Pictures of you...pictures of me

Almost 0200hrs already.
Hope it's not too late to wish HAPPY DEEPAVALI.

More pictures first. These were taken at Ismail's Best Picture Birthday gathering. Of course what I have are crappy shots. Ismail and Tini have better ones but they havent uploaded theirs yet.

Be thankful with mine first.

The birthday boy...and the man he was supposed to be. Lawrence of Arabia!

Well..Andrew's from England and he was injured; The English Patient!

Tini's interpretation of Maria in The Sound of Music

Alfie+Sha's interpretation of Forrest Gump and Jenny.

Okay, the rest of the pictures I have dont really depict our characters well. Must wait for Ismail's shots cause he took individual pictures of us. In the meantime, here's a bit more.

I drew Sha's name for the gift-exchange.
Habis Sha...aku kasi kau McDonalds' fries.

Oh... I took these at home.

Alamak...wrong hand.

Oh shut up!

Anyway...I won the Best Picture Quiz and Ismail gave me an Oscar...

... printed on a piece of card. Hahahaa.

Later.

After The Rain

It's already the 28th day of Syawal and before Hari Raya leaves us, here's a final recollection of my Hari Raya with my friends.

The Moonies

The Gurlies.

With that...Hari Raya is over.

With the benefit of Mr Kite

The horror.

I fell asleep while surfing and totally missed the football action. Heard Liverpool run riot against Besiktas last night ..8 goals to nil. Must have been damn amazing. Drats.

Not only that, I also slept my "working" time away. Something stirred me to wake up at 0600hrs and with eyes full of sleep, I ploughed on relentless preparing for my morning lesson. Could only came up with 15 PowerPoint slides.

The lesson went smoothly, thank God.

Went gallivanting last night in search of clothes for Daffy's wedding dress. WEnt to Marina Square, Plaza Singapura, OG and Robinsons. Was about to give up and call it a night cause everything had been disgusting. However, just when I declared enough was enough...something cheap caught my eye. I couldnt believe that prior to the discovery,.I was almost desperate enough to buy this $175 (after 50% discount!) Grecian dress which looked semi-awful on me.

Thank God I didnt and saw this one instead.

Cheap..but it looks okay to me.

The cleavage has to go though...

Okay time to go lunch. Am having exam invigilation in the afternoon.

Later.

To the club ya'll!

Darling companion

God...It took me so long to mark this particular assignment because it's so self-indulgent! What a waste of my fast-depleting youth. Bluergh!

A few sms-es just came in:

1. tomorrow's post-work activity is confirmed: Chill session at the Asian Civilisation Musuem's Timbre

2. weewee confirmed that tickets for My Chemical Romance had been secured

3. Daffy reminded me that her wedding is this Saturday and that the dress code is Formal Black Tie.

4. Meiling cancelled our supposed "date" for Lambs For Lions movie premier because she had to work OT.

....and laptop is still silent.

Although I am not a fan of Tom Cruise, I had psyched meself for the movie...but, oh well, it's not gonna happen. As for Daffy's sms, man...formal black tie event. Maybe I can go scout for clothes later now that the movie has been canned. If budget really restricts me, I'll just turn up wearing a black tie. Literally.

Gah.

Need to do some financial check.

Later.

P/S: Am contemplating watching Lars & the Real Girl or Factory Girl.

P/P/S: Coffee money from the football blog will really come in handy now...but..hmm..where is it?

###

Sound of silence

Okay.

Snow White is back on track.

It's just that after the operation...she has become dumb. Mute.

There is no sound coming out from the computer and I have tried fiddling around with the controls and stuff.

This sucks.

Hard.

No Rain

I woke up to the commotion in the kitchen. The father had left the clothes to dry last night and when the morning downpour came, he made so much noise because we couldnt inform him that it was going to rain and that the clothes should be taken in.

Get it?

We didnt tell him that it was going to rain on the next day!
It's always like this.
Whenever he hangs the clothes out, all of us should just sit by the door or window and wait for the slightest hint of a thunderstorm.

Once I heard a thunder and I told the father that it was going to rain. He said, "Aiyah...just thunder." Few minutes later, the rain beat down mercilessly and guess who was to blame? No points for you though.

..
..
..

Crazy/anal parent aside, it is a beautiful rainy morning.

No...the meeting with the acquaintance didnt happen because unfoRtunAtely, hE hAd soMetHing On iN thE LasT miNute aNd TherEfoRe tHe mEeT-Up hAd tO bE PostpOned - this is the way he sent his sms to my by the way. I thought only my childish sister does this. I'm wrong apparently.

Of course quite happy that it didnt happen. Was damn tired anyway cause the night before (Sunday) I only managed to get some shut-eye at 0430hrs. Idaho's sick and so she asked me to cover for her last minute and I stayed up to do some lesson and activity planning.

Yes...when I am not sneaking around somewhere, I am actually a hard-working human being.

Oh..finally managed to get the Linkin Park concert tickets. After being so wishy-washy about it, I finally dragged my ass to Raffles City to get them and was quite surprised (okay..not THAT surprised) to know that only the free-standing tickets were left. I knew the cheap priced ones were gone...but the expensive seating ones too? Damn...too late!

The thing is, as much as I like to jump around like a monkey about to mate, I will be working on that day and work is only finished at 1730hrs. Clara's even worse..around 1800hrs. If we were to get seats, at least we know that ..you know..there's a place for us.

But now that we have to stand...I chose the $128 one instead of the $148 because I know...we cant definitely squeeze to the front considering that we will be late and that Clara is not a very crowd-friendly/jostle-and-joust kind of person. If I'm alone, hell yeah...but I am not. So $128 is the better choice.

It better be.

Okay time for work.

"All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
I like watchin' the puddles gather rain
And all I can do is just pour some tea for two
and speak my point of view
But it's not sane, It's not sane" - No Rain, Blind melon

P/S: Happy belated birthday Cai Ying!!

P/P/S: Snow White is back, ya'll. But i havent configured the work internet connection yet. Till then, it's the office PC still.

Welcome to the Black Parade

There's a place for us
A time and place for us
Hold my hand and we're halfway there
Hold my hand and I'll take you there
Somehow
Some day
Somewhere.....

Top (L-R): Ed's Maria of West Side Story, Nani's Maggie Fitzgerald of Million Dollar Baby, Sean's Charlie Babbit of Rain Man, Susan's Velma Kelly of Chicago and Lauren's Carolyn Burham of American Beauty

Bottom (L-R): Ismail's T.E Lawrence of Lawrence of Arabia, Tini's Maria of Sound of Music, Sha's Jenny Curran of Forrest Gump and Alfie's Forrest Gump of Forrest Gump

Missing: Andrew's Almasy of The English Patient (he left for work but damn he was in character!), Grace's Annie Hall, Jo's Schindler's List and Jay's Platoon. The trio didnt turn up at all.

[More actual photos to be up soon...using Snow White, which will be collected tomorrow. Hooray!]

Anyway, we were at Amirah's Grill at Pahang Street just now to celebrate Ismail's birthday. We got a cosy private room with sofa and settees, cushions, TV and a stack of DVDs.

We had hummus, pita bread, garlic bread and fries as appetisers before settling into the kebabs and all the meat for dinner.

Anyway, the room was something like this...

Not exactly the same (cant find the picture) but...same format, lah.

Anyway we got Ismail The Godfather DVD series. Hope he likes it...he better, cause he was the one who asked for it. Mail, hope you had a good time nevertheless. Apologies if we did look kind of mendak.

Quite a few events are lining up for the Moonies. Up next will be Jo's Hen Party. Need to confirm with her the date before we girls can plan something simple yet meaningful. Next, will be the IsmaTini's engagement - where we will add to Ismail's entourage to Tini's abode.

A week after the Ismatini affair, there will be the JayJo's wedding...haha should be the event of the year, I guess. Need to confirm the time and all also...exciting. Then of course, there is the Moonie End-Of-Year gathering.

This year, the gathering will most probably be held at someone's house (not sure whose yet) and it will also most probably held on the last day of the year. Just now, we had "ballotted" the names for our goodwill present-exchange and I drew Sha's name. Hehehe...must get her something kooky...like her.

Jay and Jo...we drew the names for you.
Ismail has the details.

There will tentatively be the Moonie Awards Ceremony where we give out awards and titles to crappy deserving winners. There were also talks of a theme for the year-end gathering.

Mentioning theme, Lauren and I planned to have a cheena chinoiserie chinese theme for our birthday next January. Am waiting for Sean's suggestion/approval/violent objection. If it is approved, shall have to dig out chopsticks and the works for accessories.

Also have few other themes in mind: TV Series Theme, Back to the 80s Theme, Black Metal Theme, Sports Theme and Biblical Theme.

The latter will imaginably be quite hilarious although it's blasphemous. Imagine someone coming as 'Jesus on a cross'... or Joseph and the coat of colours. Adam and Eve? Moses with a stone tablet? Virgin Mary? the people from Sodom and Gamorrah? David and Goliath? Noah and a huge ark? Kwa kwa kwa!

Hahaha..if only everyone has a rude insensitive blasphemous twisted sense of humour like we do.

..
..
..

Idaho is really sick and will not be coming to work tomorrow. She told me The Boss would put me as her substitute. Strangely, The Boss hasnt told me yet. Thank God Idaho had warned me earlier.

Now, I need to prepare something for the relief class.
Gah...I dont have my laptop in the morning.
Grr.

Got to run.

A thousand times goodnight, kebab-ombs!

P/S: Shortcake, call me at 2000hrs tomorrow if you havent heard from me by then.

I feel pretty

Red Jumpsuit Apparatus-Your Guardian Angel
Uploaded by brienta

Beautiful song....sigh.
I know I have put it up before..but..

When I see your smile
Tears run down my face I can't replace
And now that I'm strong I have figured out
How this world turns cold and it breaks through my soul
And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one

I will never let you fall
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all
Even if saving you sends me to heaven

It's okay
It's okay
It's okay

Seasons are changing
And waves are crashing
And stars are falling all for us
Days grow longer and nights grow shorter
I can show you I'll be the one

I will never let you fall
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all
Even if saving you sends me to heaven

Cuz you're my, you're my, my
My true love, my whole heart
Please don't throw that away
Cuz I'm here for you
Please don't walk away and
Please tell me you'll stay
Stay

Use me as you will
Pull my strings just for a thrill
And I know I'll be okay
Though my skies are turning gray

I will never let you fall
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all
Even if saving you sends me to heaven

..
..

Not going to colleague's open house anymore cause Idaho is sick and I dont want to be there without a friend. Shortcake is also not going cause she is busy. The Boss will be there...so.urgh..forget it. Am not ready to show them my red hair.

Yeah, I highlighted my hair and yesterday, it looked flaming. Think it will be less flaming in days to come.

Oh...got meself a red apron. It doesnt look as goodas the one in the movie but...o well.

But even if I get the whole similar outfit, I wont look the same cause Natalie Wood was just so gorgeous in that show.

I was at Marks And Spencer's yesterday and I saw a pretty red dress and I wenr "Hmm..Maria wears that in the show!"

Then I look at the price tag...a 3-figured price.
No thanks.
Maria can be naked for all I care.

Hmmm...there is still about 4 more hours for me to change my mind and outfit.

There's a place for us,
Somewhere a place for us.
Peace and quiet and open air
Wait for us
Somewhere.

There's a time for us,
Some day a time for us,
Time together with time spare,
Time to learn, time to care,
Some day!

Somewhere.
We'll find a new way of living,
We'll find a way of forgiving
Somewhere . . . - West Side Story

Wonder if I can play the card game which I had picked up from the students last week at the chalet. That kept us up for hours. We drank a lot of water and all needed the loo. But it was good clean fun. And clevr too.

We'll see.

It's your day, Mail.

Later.

Please don't stop the music

Owwww.
I cant move my legs.
I freaking cant move my legs.
Adoi!

Left work at 1900hrs and met Lauren downstairs. We then took a walk down to Clark Quay's Central Mall where we stuffed ourselves with chocolate toast drenched in peanut butter. It's unthinkable here...but trust me, the taste is wonderful.

Weiling joined us soon after and we all adjourned to Burger King's where Clara soon followed. From there, we moved on to The Cannery. After much mulling, we finally got a place at The Pump Room.

I preferred the Highlander...but that joint didnt have seats for us.

Highlander's a Scottish bar and the waiters/waitresses wear kilts. And there were these 2 ang-moh singers just now performing Belle and Sebastian tunes.
Belle and Sebastian, leh!

The interior of The Pump Room was nice.
Pity we didnt get the booth seats...top with the lovely chandelier.
We sat outside.

Anyway...we chatted..got some drinks...got some grub...made some plans. Liah came at about 2245hrs. Both she and I soon left for the club. The initial plan was to head to St James. But that place began to sound like it was located at the end of the world. So I decided to go MOS instead...since it's just a few doors away.

Got in at 2330hrs and left at 0245hrs.
Tired.
Too old.
But still not to old to stop, heh.

It's almost 0600hrs. Think I can still catch another 2 hrs of sleep before heading to work.

Yup, work.

A thousand times good night, two-steppers and krumping krumpers.

P/S: I still dance like a man on speed.

P/P/S: Either that I dont move at all...which is not good if you are in the middle of the dance floor.

Knock on wood

* For those who want to know about Snow White, she has comatosed and is waiting for her Prince to rescue her. Hopefully soon. In the meantime, the 7 dwarves mourn.

It's Friday already and I am looking forward to the weekend cause the weekdays have been disgusting. At least over the weekend I will be busy having fun and I wont be bothered at the thought of Snow Wh..you get the drill. In the meantime, I just need to get along with the PC at work and the forgotten one at home.

Ah!
The forgotten one with a yellow screen monitor…
...which needs constant hard knocks.

Last night's mad MRT crush was horrid. I came down to the platform only to be greeted by a massive flock of human cattle. Apparently, the tubes are experiencing some major delay. It was peak hour…so you could imagine how bad it was. It felt like Eid Adha (Hari Raya Haji, lah!) came way early and that suddenly we were all in Mecca facing the Kaabah. Allahu akhbar!

Except of course, instead of the black stone, we are all staring and trying to squeeze our way to the door.

I stayed for about 20 minutes waiting for the train. Was meeting Meiling in town so I thought MRT was the best mode. Of course I was wrong so I got out and took #7 to town instead. Squeezy but hey, at least I got on it.

Reached Cineleisure and Meiling was late. Girlfriend was stuck at Newton MRT and when she got out, she couldn't get on the bus either. Therefore, she walked all the way to Orchard. Mind you, her sprained ligament hadn't even healed yet.

Anyway, we had a movie preview event last night. Obviously we were both late…and so were many others. However, we only managed to miss out about 10 minutes of the movie. What movie?

It was BEE MOVIE, by the way.

It was nonsensical…duh, about bees talking to humans. But then again, since when do cartoon characters make any sense? Even Transformers talked crap sometimes.

BEE MOVIE was colourful and haha, if you like Jerry Seinfeld's wry sense of humour, you will like it. Only a handful laughs could be heard last night and while many enjoyed the usual slapsticks, not many responded to the word play. I don't know. Maybe it's because the jokes were really lame to them…or maybe, just maybe, they were expecting some rocket science seriousness and weren't ready to be tickled.

Me?

Hey, I'm Tickle-Me Elmo.

Old man falling down on his face will make me laugh for days.

Turtle struggling back on its feet after being overturned?

Will remember that for years!

Oh come on.

Laugh first then help, lah.

I'm not that evil.

I just like good cheap laughs.

Okay fun time's over.

Back to the droning sound of ink on paper…marking, that is.

No one's there when your dreams at night get creepy!
No one cares if you grow...of if you shrink!
No one dries when your eyes get wet an' weepy!

From all the cryin' you would think this place's a sink!
Ohhhh!!!!!!!
Empty belly life!
Rotten smelly life!
Full of sorrow life!
No tomorrow life!

It's the hard-knock life for us
It's the hard-knock life for us - from the musical Annie

Oh well.
Let the day be over soon.
Tonight, to the club, ya'll!!!

For The Girl Who Has Everything

It's 0635hrs and I just woke up. Apparently I had fallen asleep on the floor (again) just after switching on my laptop. My work is all over the floor and I didnt manage to do anything, The laptop's condition has taken a turn for the worse and am now using my pc. All the cleaning doesnt seem to help. Point of no return, I guess,

Don't talk about it now cause I am utterly depressed. My work schedule is stalled.

Anyway...

Had the visiting session last night. Headed to Noreen's place and then to Liah's and then to mine. Liah came over for less than 10 minutes cause she had an appointment with her bf.

Yes, a boyfriend.
Still fresh haha.
Yay.

Noreen, Weiling and Clara stayed till almost midnight cause..we had a long chat. Guys, it was ...you know..a good talk. One quality time can make up for all the many lost time I tell you. I am glad we met up last night. Wouldnt want to have missed it for the world.

Realise that there are many more real problems out there than a deteriorating computer system. Makes me feel lucky that right now, the only problem I have in my life is that my laptop is not working. I should be thankful that I am not sick (as much as I know), dirt poor or suffering any form of abuse. Must really learn to appreciate the things around me. Spoilt computers can be repaired. Spoilt heart...difficult.

Damn.
Who am I kidding.

Feel like going back to bed. Am really god damn tired and sad. Am so tempted to call in sick but I am too lazy to go to the doctor's to get an MC. Need to save my files on lappie. Think I will have to send to the witch doctors already. The faster I send it...the faster I'll get it back. I hope.

Argh. I have a gazillion things to do and I cant do it because the computer is acting all PMSly cranky.

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
You begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life
How to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life
- How To Save A Life, The Fray

Been avoiding posting up this song cause this has been such a cliche song, no thanks to Grey's Anatomy. But after last night's chat, I really feel that... I dont know... we all need to be saved.

God bless us all.
Every last one of us.

Have a pleasant day, loves.
