Pass the duchie on the left hand side
I have finally finished editing the 200+-paged manuscript, inclusive of changes and all. I feel like screaming out in glee…hell, I even feel like doing cartwheels here in the library. However decorum is stopping me from doing it. It is rightfully so.

I have to just swallow the joy then.
Anyway, my black Rado watch had its face smashed couple of days ago. Think someone moved my stuff around during the reno and well, the watch fell victim. Great. Just great. So today I wore my white Adidas (or is it mossy green?) to school and fuck, the plastic mini strap (you know the one where you slot in the running end?) broke. Fuck lah. Now I have 2 watches …the old green Adidas and the blue Mickey Mouse one given by Meiling. Both are not the kinds that I would wear. And besides, blue and green….they don’t match most of my clothes.
Fuck.
I need new watches.
And contact lenses.
My student commented that my specs have a lot of scratches on them. I know, okay. I know. I don’t earn enough to do all these at the same freaking time.
I hate being short-sighted.
What a life.
Okay my battery is dying and it is getting freezing cold here in the library. Think something is wrong with me. I am feeling freezing cold almost all the time. Will go home soon and tonight, I shall meet the ex-SNPians in town.
Hello ladies.

My lover stands on golden sand
Past few nights had been hell. I felt like a vagabond in my own bedroom. I was surrounded by big black trash bags and I would be sprawled on the wooden floor like an orphan. The only thing different would be that I had my laptop with me…lulling me with songs to sleep.

So pardon me if I have been feeling very tired, unfocussed and uninterested.
Lauren, I can kill to be in your suite right now in KL.
There are many times when I find meself walking in and out of the rooms looking dazed. I have been almost intolerable at home, kicking a big fuss whenever I cant find my stuff. My ties with the family have also been strained because I resent them being in my face all the time. They hate me for being in a perpetual foul mood all the time. But somehow they don’t comprehend. Why is it only the parents have the right to feel tired and irritated? Do they think that I sit around and play with the freaking students? And that I don’t deserve some peace, privacy and understanding? And they still have the cheek to tell me off? That I am too self-centred? Let me just tell you…whatever manner I turned out, it is all because of things ingrained by you.
Sigh…
I have ranted enough. It is a natural habit when I am too tired. And I am suffering from lack of TV and radio. I haven’t even open my Elle and Cosmo magazines. It has been almost 2 weeks.
Anyway mentioning TV, I did manage to catch the Screen Actors Guild Awards last night. I yelped with joy when Little Miss Sunshine was announced as Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
Seriously. Love. That. Show.

As always, Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t win anything. He has been very close every year. Hopefully his time will come soon. He missed it with Gangs Of New York, The Aviator and this year he has 2 biggies with The Departed and Blood Diamond. However every year his opponents seem to edge him out. Easy and slowly baby. Easy and slowly.
I shall go back to marking. This entry has by far been frivolous. I need some soothing sounds. I need some sustenance. Food, that is.
Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memory's so clear
Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen
As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are my
Forever love
Watching me from up above
And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave
Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are - To Where You Are, Josh Groban
Ah.
Elysium.

Get great friends
I didn’t go to work today. No. I wasn’t late. In fact I woke up early to tell the school that I couldn’t make it today. I spent the whole night sleeping on the new wooden floor because all the mattresses were taken up by the family members next door. Plus, I didn’t have any bedsheet or blanket and it was freezing cold. I woke up with a great ache and a terrible chill.
Anyway here’s wishing a dear old friend…
HAPPY21st 27th BIRTHDAY LAUREN LEE PEI YEE!!

Shit…so many pictures!
Happy birthday babe. Though you are now in KL celebrating your birthday with your colleagues by immersing yourself in work, I still wish you all the happy wishes and hope you have a good day. Hope you had a good time yesterday.
Yesterday…Sunday 28th Jan 2007.
Grace picked me up and we made our way to Vivocity cause the birthday girl wanted to go there to take a look…she being the VVcity virgin herself.

In order not to get lost or to forget her Mazda, I helped Grace took a picture of the parking lot.
After walking around and stuff, we decided to move off in the evening. We headed to Siglap and had dinner at Secret Recipe.

Thanks Grace Lau for the dinner!
After Secret Recipe, we moved on to The CheeseCake Café.

I didn’t take pictures but the two girls did so I’ll upload them here once I get them. Meiling told me about this place on Saturday so I decided to bring the girls there. The place is a very nice hideout and the cheesecakes are yummy! Lauren had chocolate cheesecake and I had peanut butter cheesecake (I thought it was delicious). Grace didn’t get a cheesecake and instead, she got a choc truffle cake. Nice. Last night…God knows how many pounds we put on.
After gorging ourselves with cakes and fruit tea, we made our way to Changi Airport tocollect pick up Ting, who was holidaying in Hong Kong. Ismail, who was from work, joined us too. Guess he just wanted to be with us and of course, to see his first wife..aka..Lauren, the birthday girl.
When Ting came out, we all headed to Popeye’s (love the chicken! Pity I was too full!).

Ting brought with her a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Wahlao…we managed to eat a piece and it tasted…out of this world. Sadly, we were all too full to finish them and I had the honour to bring them back. This morning, when I wanted to eat them for breakfast, they were gone…ravaged by the family members. Damn sad okay!!!!
See…had a fun and tiring weekend.
No wonder I couldn’t go work.
Am looking forward to this weekend. It is the official celebration with the Moonies.
People, let’s eat crabs!

What..another week gone?
Friday saw me meeting the gurlies – Liah, Weiling, Clara and Noreen – at Thai Express @ Marina Square. It was nice talking to them … the usual stuff..work, life, men, husband, boyfriends and stuff. Mostly they talked, I listened. Same old…same old.

Noreen bought roses for all of us. And I got my present. Cold hard cash…haha. That will go to my contact lens trust fund.
Thank you ladies.
After that, one by one left, leaving Clara and I behind. We didn’t want to go home so we decided to catch a show instead. We intended to watch Blood Diamond but there was no showing. So we watched MISS POTTER instead.

After watching a series of sad and gory movies, MISS POTTER came like a breath of fresh air. The show was about Beatrix Potter, the creator of Peter Rabbit, the most loved children’s book/character of all time. Renee Zellweger was perfect for the role – well she is an honorary British and single. Sounds like Bridget Jones.
MISS POTTER borders on being very harmless and too perfect because the show has no villains (other than society’s prejudice) and there is no tragic drama that is obviously shown to the audience. Instead, it ropes in the viewers to feel along with the lead characters and in this show, the feelings are that of tenderness and slow-burning passion. The cinematography in this movie is EXCELLENT. Again, it is EXCELLENT as we see the beautiful English countryside at the turn of the 20th century. The mountains, the lakes, the forests…gorgeous.
“The most exciting words are the first words of a story. They take you on a journey. my story brought me here. Where I belong.” Miss Potter
Of course I have a little fondness for it because both she and I are ..ahem..writers.
MISS POTTER is enchanting and if you seriously need a good pick-me-up, feel good kind of show, this is the one. Renee is splendid and she is fast becoming one of my favourite actresses (Bridget Jones, Cold Mountain, Nurse Betty, Down With Love, Jerry McGuire, The Bachelor, Chicago…). There are definitely flair, comic timing and genuineness that she brings. Awwwwwww.
And the fact that Ewan McGregor, one of my top 5 favourite actors, is in it makes it even more … err..aww-worthy.
...
Saturday saw me going to NPCC and just like the week before (aka the birthday) I fell asleep at around 1500hrs and woke up late for my meeting. I was supposed to meet Wanyi, Yushan and Yiling at Raffles MRT at 1800hrs but I only woke up 30 minutes earlier…unshowered and unprepared. Took a cab down to the Asian Civilisation Museum once I was ready and met the girls there.
What was the occasion?
It was Shadiq-Ash’s wedding.

Wanyi, Yiling, Yushan and I managed to find seats at the corner of the ballroom. We shared the table with 2 of Shadiq’s former cadets. They soon recognised me. Urgh..I felt so old. Anyway we couldn’t see the video montage and couldn’t really see the newly-weds. So we entertained ourselves with food, jokes and cam-whoring.

The food was nice and the dessert selection was great. I thought the black-pink décor was nice too. But of course, the best was the company of friends. Old friends.
Here’s Fifi starting it off…by trying to eat the mic.

Of course the last picture is the picture of the couple who will get married next…Din and Ida! June 2008…mark that month, ya’ll.
After the wedding, we girls (plus Fifi) made our way to Boat Quay’s TCC to chill and also to celebrate Wanyi’s birthday. I managed to take a shot before the bloody phone went dead.
So yeah..Happy birthday Wanyi. Or is it Amberle?

Birthday girl and Yushan.
The latter looks shock.
Maybe because she just found out her good friend’s English name is “Amber…with an ‘le’ at the back.”
0130hrs and we split ways.
I was tired like fuck.
Went home..caught the Man U versus Portsmouth match and fell asleep towards the end.
And we knew then what happened on Sunday.
I didn’t go to class.
P/S: Shadiq and Ash, I wish you a lifetime of marital bliss. May you spend your entire lives in the wonderful company of each other. God bless.
