Unwell / So Sick

Singapore has confirmed three more cases of Influenza A (H1N1-2009). The patients are currently being treated at the Communicable Disease Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). Their symptoms are relatively mild and all of them are in stable condition.

The second confirmed case is a 43-year-old female Singapore Permanent Resident who returned to Singapore from San Francisco via Manila on Tuesday, 26 at 1750 hrs. She was on Singapore Airlines, SQ 917 and was seated at 33H. She became unwell while on board.

The third confirmed case is a 28-year-old American female who is working in Singapore. She returned to Singapore from Honolulu via Tokyo on Tuesday, 26 May at 2353 hrs, on United Airlines, UA 803. She was seated at 33C. She became unwell on 26 May.

The fourth confirmed case is a 28-year-old Singaporean male who returned to Singapore from Chicago via Hong Kong on 25 May at 0036hrs. He was on United Airlines, UA 895 and was seated at 55H. He became unwell on 25 May.

Contact tracing of their close contacts (including passengers on the same flights) is ongoing. They will be quarantined and provided with antiviral prophylaxis. Passengers within three rows in front and behind the case who have not been contacted by MOH yet should call the MOH hotline at 1800-333 9999 to enable MOH to check on their health condition expeditiously. The affected rows for SQ 917 are 30-36 ; for UA 803, the affected rows are 30-36 and for UA 895, the affected rows are 52-58.

MOH would like to take this opportunity to remind those who have travelled in the preceding 7 days to affected countries to seek immediate medical attention once they develop influenza-like symptoms. They should call 993 for an ambulance. This will help minimise the risk of infecting those around them, especially people who are at higher risk of severe illness and complications of influenza. It is with the cooperation of the public that we can together help prevent the spread of the virus in Singapore and prevent unnecessary illness or death.

Sekian,

Terima kasih.

Living next door to Alice

Did a lot of things today.

1. Proofread 1001 chapters (fine, only 10)

2. Did some desktop layout on that stupid 10 chapters

3. Source out 20 articles that can go with that silly 10 chapters - McQuail, McChesney, Kotler, Habermas...eat your stinking asses out.

4.Prepare a presentation on smart phones, web mobile and mygamma.com. Geek level hits the roof.

The roof...
The roof...
The roof is on fire
We don't need no water let the motherfucker burn
Burn motherfucker burn

Okay. Been at work for 12 hours and now, I shall make my way home to complete 4 more chapters on how to be a writer. I need to finish these so that ...sigh..I can start on 15 more chapters of European Cinema Studies.

What the fuck...
What the fuck...
What the fuck...

U got it bad

Well, the better team won and this morning, that team just weren't Manchester United.

I fell asleep at 0130hrs...overslept...and I actually missed the first half. Ran to the TV cursing myself for falling asleep. Down by goal at 10th min. At 70th min, Lionel Messi downed another one.

Ah, and we didnt recover at all.
Our defence crumbled.
And Puyol was a pain in our asses.

So, 0-2. Barca had a good game and no, I am not sad (more like tired actually) cause better team won and I love Barca anyway.

I just cant stand non-Man U and non-Barca fans taunting us. Eh, the last time I checked, Liverpool was nowhere near the final, hokey.

All right.
Cest la vie.

###

Hush hush

2 more hours to the big match and I am already so sleepy!!

Stay awake, Ed. It's going to be so worth it. It's going to be fun cause you love both teams to bits.

Sleep...
Football...
Jihad.

Buddy Holly

...died young.

Tired is an understatement. Even penat gila babi doesnt even come close.

I have lost sense of time - nights, days, seconds, minutes, hours.

I've never worked so far.

And still I...

P/S: Man U! Barca! Man U! Barca! Man U!

P/P/S: I cant wait. I wore Man U jersey in class yesterday. Managed to gather a few Man U fans (students) to do the same. Today, no class...so I'm just settling for wearing the Man U scarf in this stuffy weather. Oh for the love of the game!!

I think I'm paranoid

I don't like regrets but if I could have done some things again, I would have attempted harder. Like studying, for example.

I could have done better for my PSLE. My prelims were wonderfull and that blew my head off. The actual results were a disaster and I was so ashamed.

My 'O' levels could have been better. I got better results throughout the course of study but I guess, when it came to the exams which really mattered, I buckled. But thank god, they were good enough for Mass Comm.

My poly results were a mess. Though I didnt fail any exams (primary school till poly), I still had a "I could have done better" moment.

My uni results...very proud of my results though I could have done better in my first semester. I didnt settle down quick enough and it affected the grades. My final semester was God-sent.

Anyway, rambling aside...I am such a lousy student.
My grades didnt reflect the joy I had doing the assignments.
I had too much fun...that's why.

Okay. What a crappy and meaningless entry.

I really need to kickstart my Masters.

I love to love

With a series of unfortunate events happening to me recently (comparable to Lemony Snickett's I suppose), there is one ringing tune in my head which attempts to bring the spring in my steps. The tune is a little bit old and (very) gay but hey, whatever works to help me through the day.

Someone taught me how to dance last night
What a move he was
And someone taught me how to do it right
What a groover he was
He taught me all the steps he knew to rock n roll
I found my sense of rhythm but I lost my self-control

When he said dance little lady , dance
Dance, little lady, dance
You know youve got only one chance
So come on, dance, dance , oh!

Told you it's gay :)

Back to work.

Don't trust me

Shush girl
Shut your lips
Do the Helen Keller
And talk with your hips

Wahahahahahah damn lame. I love people who dont take themselves seriously. The world is already so fucked-up. Why so serious?

My new favourite song right now :)

P/S: Cause deep down, I am a trapped frat boy with fart jokes. Evidence? I LOVE Night At The Museum 2.

###

That's all

I can only give you love that lasts forever
And a promise to be near each time you call
And the only heart I own
For you and you alone,
That's all
That's all

I can only give you country walks in springtime
And a hand to hold when leaves begin to fall
And a love whose burning light
Will warm the winter night
That's all
That's all

There are those, I am sure, that have told you
They would give you the world for a toy
All I have are these arms to enfold you
And a love time can never destroy

If you're wondering what I'm asking in return, dear
You'll be glad to know that my demands are small
Say it's me that you'll adore
For now and ever more,
That's all
That's all

Trust "Nature Boy" Nat King Cole to set the mood for Sunday. Ah, it will be a great time to fall in love, wont it?

Saturday sun

Have been sitting at my desk (here at work) doing absolutely nothing. Brain is dead. Mood has long been gone. Body? It's just wilting away.

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere

And their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had

I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen

Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had

I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad world (Gary Jules's version)

Think I shall borrow Donnie Darko from the school's library. Shall watch it tonight after my badminton session.

Yes...badminton after, what, 2 years?

P/S: Damn there's no Donnie Darko :(

It's only rock and roll

The mother came home at 1800hrs and she watched American Idol.

I came home at 2000hrs and I watched American Idol.

The father just came home at 2200hrs and he's watching American Idol.

The sister will be coming home at midnight and I think she'll be watching American Idol.

8 hrs of Idol!!!
But you must admit, it's a good one.
I went ballistic when Jason Mraz and Santana came out.

:)

Anyway...about yesterday. Still angry but I cant turn back time so I'm going to let it slide. Have been battling the urge to confront the boss and every other pariah whom I think are involved. In fact, I didnt sleep the whole of yesterday and am feeling so damn woozy right now.

Was up thinking and discussing with some unfortunate kakis and well, fatigue took my mind off anger and spite. I am somewhat at a dark place having a twisted sense of peace.

I can have a relapse though. The first week is always the hardest so...when I see these people at work, I guess I have to replace their images with that of rainbows, unicorns and fucking hot centaurs. Ooh them sexy beasts.

Hmmm.

No one can break me except for myself so these people are better off sodomising themselves.

Rainbows. Unicorns. Centaurs.

Okay need to be down with reading the papers and then....sigh...it's back to the computer.

:(

Fine. I'm slow. But I am darn meticulous.
That's damn underrated these days.

Rock n roll, people.

P/S: As you can see...I'm all over the place.

The kill

Nabei chee bye.

Had my one-on-one just now and well...it was a showdown all in the name of "constructive criticism". Quoting Keith from Project Runaway:

"There are constructive criticism and there are insults."

Had I not been overwhelmed by my flu (feverish chills, running nose, the works), I would have probably burst into tears. I put on an indignant front and I think that vexed "It" more. "It" went on and on...I took everything in though I had the urge to sneeze in It's face. But, after It accused me of so many things, I dont want "violent and crazy" to be in the list too. Though I really want to strangle It.

It said a lot of things and apparently, some of the things came from the colleagues. Now...be a man/woman whatever. Tell me if you are not happy. Dont go running to your mummy's chest. If you dare to speak up your mind, then own what you say and step up. Walao..bloody basket.

Is It indirectly telling me to leave?

One thing I learn today (yeah yeah it just hit me..how dumb), people at work cannot be trusted - both colleagues and students alike. They're all nice to you if they need help. Once you say something that doesnt go well with their ears, they'll run to higher power without even trying to clarify things. I can understand the immaturity of some students...but how do you explain colleagues? And all done behind the cloak of anonymity?

Ass wipe cowards.

Maybe teaching is really not my thing. To all my students, I am sorry for negatively influencing your life <-- that was what It was hinting by the way. That I have been negatively influencing people...from students to colleagues. It made me sound like I have been teaching my students how to become fundamentalist terrorist, alcoholic, drug abusers, sex maniacs, thieves and other heinous criminals. Again, never overestimate others' thinking ability, hor.

Friends (at least I think they are...they havent stabbed me..yet) told me to just let it pass. Come on. Isnt it disheartening to know that your superior has such skewed opinion about you? What are you going to do next?

(a) Be extra nice and bend your back to make sure they change their impression

or

(b) Just continue to be who you are and hope that people will just ... get it?

Most people will go for (a) but...but..walandey...you did nothing wrong, sia!@#$@#$

...
...
...

Was so tempted to call it quits. But then again, I shouldnt let others' insecurity stop me from my financial joy and shopping.

But, it's about pride. There's only so much bruising I can take within that 20 minutes.

Urgh.
I just have to resort to cursing.

To the colleagues who said those things about me without any basis or allowance for my defence, I curse you.

To the students who said those things which I didnt...without any basis or allowance for my defence, I curse you and your parents for ill breeding.

A plague on both your houses.
A plague on both your houses.
A plague on both your houses.

Sitting at the dock of the bay

It has been a horrid lazy Sunday which saw me rot on my bed till 1800hrs.

As I was rotting and reading the papers at the same time, lo..here's what I saw.

Din had placed a photo in the papers.
Everyone goes "Awwwww..."

:)

Last Saturday, after watching Star Trek with Meiling, I headed off to Marina Bay to meet Win, Linh and Riza. Linh just flew in from Vietnam and wanted to catch up. We all managed to psycho Riza, who's in Monash Sunway, to come down. From Marina Bay we all got into a cab and headed to Keppel Bay.

We headed to TCC. It was 2000hrs by then...pity, it would have been perfect if we were there are sundown.

After TCC, we took a walk along the pier/bay. I was looking at the yachts longingly and at some beautiful houses there. Ooh the life!

Took pictures on the road; sitting, squatting, jumping...just fall short from lying down. We left around 2230hrs and headed to Raffles City's McDonalds. Our Vietnamese friend (Linh) missed McDonalds so much so we went there to let her bask in the oily glory.

Riza went back to KL the next day and Linh followed suit a few days later. The latter headed to Langkawi from KL, before going back home.

Lifestyle of the young and free..sheesh.

MANCHESTER UNITED!!

Good season, guys.
Good season Uncle.
So, can you please step down?
Mourinho..come to Old Trafford.

###

Here comes the sun

I came home from work around 2000hrs and I fell asleep immediately, waking up at 0330hrs. 7.5 hrs...wow, was I that tired? It's 0500hrs and I am staring at my fan and stoning to Kings of Leon.

Was planning to watch GA season finale but...am too stoned to flip open my laptop.

Was looking for reasons to go out tomorrow. There's no work and no NPCC. Was planning to jog but I havent got running shoes; swim but my hair's too dry. And well...there's good ole match between Man U and Arsenal at 1945hrs.

Maybe I can go out and buy a swimming cap so that I can go pool-dunking on Sunday. I have run out of movies to watch, also.

Wah..damn mundane.
But then, it's good.
Too much drama at work.
See how it saps my energy?

Shall read my ELLE magazine and do sun salutations at dawn.

P/S: Banyak kau punya sun salutations, Ed. Subuh tak nak buat?

Dance little lady dance

2 weeks ago, I cleared my wardrobe and threw away almost half of what's inside. So...I am in a mission of starting afresh (somewhat). Since I cant yet start over with my job, the wardrobe will be the substitute.

it's the sale season and so...I am slowly stocking up. I saw a nice orange office dress just now and bought it on a sale. Just tried to put it on minutes ago and ... Argh...it didnt fit. Being a sale item, I dont think I can exchange. Man!

Lesson: Don't shop when it's almost closing time. Oh well.

Caught two shows today - SELL OUT and HENRY POOLE IS HERE - and both were equally depressing, but good nevertheless.

Spent the afternoon gallivanting alone after the first movie and in the first 30 mins, I was like a walking confusion. I dont know what to do, where to go, etc. I literally drift around. Just felt lost in the crowd (1700hrs and it's crowded???) and in the madness of Orchard Road.

Get off the road and go in the mall, Ed.
You'll be safe there.

At about 1900hrs, I met Meiling at The Cathay and we headed to Picturehouse. 2 'arty' shows in a day and both were damn ironic stuff.

Still it's a good day.

Is it Saturday already?
No?
Damn.

P/S: I know...and I am fully aware of my chronic melancholy. To have someone else, however, saying it to your face is really painful. Burn-out has never felt so painful.

The one

It's going to be a real dilemma next week - adam lambert or kris allen?

I started this 'tournament' rooting for adam cause he's a rockstar and he has this crazy creativity and chameleon-like appearance. I didnt dig his thick make-up and tight pants but...it's okay.

But the last few weeks, I kind of got slightly turned off with the judges' constant adam-pimping and sudddenly, adam's singing got slightly unbearable. Why must you waaaaaaaaail so much? And, gosh, why must you stick out your tongue and wriggle it when you waaaaaaaaaail? It's terrible.

Kris has always been an underdog. The judges' not-so-constant treatment towards him has probably robbed his vitality and made him less charming as the weeks went by. He didnt smile as much and he often caught on camera frowning and not as huggy-huggy like the rest. But damn...I like melancholic guys like kris. And when he gives you the smile, the world is a better place.

Of course, his voice is not as great as allison's or adam's (sans the waaaaailing) but it's folksy, sincere and it's what jason castro wanted to be but couldnt. Almost mraz-like, this kris.

When he sang She Works Hard For The Money (thank you baby *blush* haha), I was wow-ed. But last night's Heartless was ...unbelievable. *jaw drops heart melts*

I almost forgot that I had actually gone to watch a fantastic movie before that (Angels & Demon). W-O-W.

That rendition will be my idol season 9 song. Last season's was the sex on microphone michael john's It's All Wrong But It's All Right live rendition of the dolly parton's song.

Still, adam will have the title in the bag. But it's okay. Kris will be the one singing in my mp3 player.

P/S: Not working today. Thought better get a day off before I go crazy and run amok at work.

Walking on broken glass

I woke up for Amazing Race all tired. I had an exhausting sleep.

Dream 1: I was in this house whom I assumed was my boyfriend. There were a lot of animals running around in his 3-room flat. There were mice running around, a dugong which walked on its flipper (?), a chimpanzee and other creepy looking creatures.

The animals were all vying for his attention and I was sitting on his couch, stunned. The dugong stood on his kitchen table and started to hop like a kangaroo. My boyfriend was running around to keep things in order, it was crazy.

The dugong leapt off the table and ran towards me. My boyfriend shielded me and we went to one of the rooms where he tucked the chimpanzee to bed. The dugong came again and we ran to the other room, closed the door and got under the blankets. Before I did that, I saw another dugong under the bed. O.m.g.

Dream 2: I remember getting off a plane and I looked around ...I was in Japan. I was whisked onto a speedboat and had no idea where I was taken to. We stopped on this beach where the sand is white and the water is clear.

I saw many other groups of tourists getting off at the beach. We all headed to this block of flats which housed a lot of backpackers' lodges. I got into the elevator with 2 hot Brazilian guys and stupid me thought they were Singaporeans and I talked to them in Singlish.

I stepped out of the lift; the Brazilian men were off to another level. As I was walking along the corridors looking for a backpacker/travel agency called TRAVELLODGE, I realised that I did not have any yen on me.

I couldnt find the place and I ended up in a Chinese market. I asked a lady who spoke good english for directions, she brought me to a place and told me ''The lodge is just ahead.''

I cannot remember if I made it there.

The way I (30) rock

What's the best Mother's Day gift?
Knowing that you're going to be a grandma.
My chocolate fondue maker seems so lame now.

Me?
Two words...

Liz Lemon.

###

Deny, deny, deny

I choked on my tears while watching Grey's Anatomy and was making a hell of a racket (gagging and coughing)at 0500hrs in the morning. That's for holding back tears. Next time, I should just let it out and wail to my heart's content...beating my chest and being on my knees and all.

Oh.
It's Mother's Day today.

I am not going to admit that I have been having the urge to become one. I am not going to admit that I want a nice beautiful wedding by the sea. I am not going to admit that I want to be the most beautiful woman on my wedding day. I dont want to admit that having someone by my side is what I need. I am not going to admit that everything I have is enough right now. I am not going to admit anything.

Denial, has always been a good friend of mine.
Deny...deny...deny, Brooks & Dunn told me.

"We deny we're tired, we deny that we're scared, we deny how badly we want to succeed. And most importantly, we deny that we're in denial. We only see what we want to see and believe what we want to believe, and it works. We lie to ourselves so much that after a while the lies start to seem like the truth. We deny so much that we can't recognize the truth... right in front of our faces." (Meredith, GA)

I see love and beauty all around
I also see the sadness that's embedded in your frown
I wonder why you choose not to talk to those around
I sense a fear of lifting heavy feet
Higher than you want to
I just want to believe your truth

You stand there but you do not cast a shadow
You walk away with every word you choose not to say
I suppose that moving on paints a new colour for each day
I don't like to see dreams put on the shelf
To deal with on that one day
I just want to be happy for you

'Coz I only have one second, this minute today
I can't press rewind and turn it back and call it now
And so this moment, I just have to sing out loud
And say I love I like and breathe in now
And say I love I live and breathe in now

I move on holding on to what I learn
It's time to move on from the notion
That the whole world's against me
Break free of shackles that formed young
Time free in now
And now I know it's not all up to me
I can count on another
So move on lighter and be free

'Coz I only have one second, this minute today
I can't press rewind and turn it back and call it now
And so this moment, I just have to sing out loud
And say I love I like and breathe in now
And say I love I live and breathe in now

I believe in for today

I just want to know that you're okay
Cause I believe in breathing just for today
I just want to know that you're okay

'Coz I only have one second, this minute today
I can't press rewind and turn it back and call it now
And so this moment, I just have to sing out loud
And say I love I like and breathe in now
And say I love I live and breathe in now
And say I love I live and breathe in now (Breathe In Now, George)

I think I shall go rest.
A thousand times goodnight, beautiful mothers of the world.

P/S: "Sometimes reality has a way of sneaking up and biting us in the ass. And when the dam bursts, all you can do is swim. The world of pretend is a cage, not a cocoon. We can only lie to ourselves for so long. We are tired, we are scared, and denying it doesn't change the truth. Sooner or later we have to put aside our denial and face the world, head on, guns blazing... Denial. It's not just a river in Egypt. It's a freakin' ocean. So how do you keep from drowning in it?" (Meredith, GA)

Transatlanticism

Hey, are you there?
Can you still hear me?

Cause it would have been so nice if you can. We are so near but...it's silly. It kind of reminds me of this poem I wrote when I was a teenager. I'm not going to pen that stupid poem down here cause it was written when I was still a juvenile. Anyway, thanks to Ginny for highlighting this song and oh..it's beautiful. It touched my broken heart strings. This is pretty painful and painfully pretty at the same time. I dont know which is worse; being physically distant or metaphorically distant.

I think the latter will kill me more.

*sniff*

The Atlantic was born today and I'll tell you how
The clouds above opened up and let it out

I was standing on the surface of a perforated sphere
When the water filled every hole
And thousands upon thousands made an ocean
Making islands where no island should go
Oh, no

Most people were overjoyed; they took to their boats
I thought it less like a lake and more like a moat
The rhythm of my footsteps crossing flatlands to your door
Have been silenced forevermore
The distance is quite simply much too far for me to row
It seems farther than ever before
Oh, no

I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer

I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer

So come on, come on
So come on, come on
So come on, come on
So come on, come on
- Transatlanticism, Death Cab For Cutie

P/S: It's time to cry my eyes out on Grey's Anatomy.

If you're thinking of me

A journalism maestro, Roy Peter Clark, once compiled 14 eccentric traits shared by writers. I remember laughing like crazy when one of my lecturers discussed these traits in class back in uni.

However, after I actually become a writer, I don't find these traits funny at all. I find it sad that I can totally understand where these writers (and their eccentricism) come from. Some interesting traits:

Trait 1
Good writers see the world as their journalism laboratory, a storehouse of story ideas. If they can get out of the office, they can find a story. In fact, they can't walk down the street or drive to the mall to watch television without finding something to write about.

Trait 7
Good writers understand that an important part of writing is the mechanical drudgery of organising the material, what the AP's Saul Pett describes as "donkey work". They may respond to this be developing careful filing systems. They also develop idiosyncracies that help them build momentum during the writing process: pilgrimages to the bathroom, taking walks, daydreaming, junk food orgies or self-flagellation.

(Ed: YES!! OLD CHANG KEE!!!!)

Trait 8
Good writers rewrite. They love computer terminals, which permit maximum playfulness during revision. They move paragraphs around, invert word order for emphasis, find stronger verbs and occasionally purge the entire story to make a fresh start. Alas, they are rarely satisfied with their final stories and, burdened with imperfection, can hardly bring themselves to read their own work in the newspaper. Writing is an expression of ego, making the writer vulnerable and, at times, insufferable.

Trait 11
Good writers write primary to please themselves and to meet their own exacting standards, but they also understand that writing is a transaction between writer and reader. Unlike many other journalists, these writers have confidence that sophisticated work will not be lost on their readers. They treasure the reader and want to reward and protect and inform the reader and take responsibility for what the reader learns from a story.

Trait 14
Good writers write too long and they know it. Unlike other journalists, who stop caring for the reader after the lead is complete, these writers use transitions and endings to keep their readers going. Their endings are so good that it is almost impossible to cut stories from the bottom. They want their stories to be seamless or connected by a single thread or to flow. They want readers to read every word.

Uh oh.
Flash meeting at 1500hrs.
It's morphing time.

Picking a chicken

I am anal towards stupid unnecessary stuff. When I cant decide whether I should be asleep or awake, the weird/crazy part of me will come out.

Sometimes I'll re-arrange my wardrobe at 0200hrs and re-arrange my clothes into colour,'season', Monday to Sunday wear. I'll even wear some clothes to check fitting and other 'fashion ailments'.

On other days, I'll clear my make-up drawer and rack and re-arrange them into various categories - brands, powder, foundation, blush, eyeshadow, gloss, lipsticks, mascara, liners...etc. I will check all the eyeliners and sharpen them if I have to... And get kohl all over my hands. And when I am unhappy with the end results, I'll do it again.

And on some other day, I'll scrub the toilet like crazy.

It's almost 0400hrs and phew phew, I'm just done with my make up arrangement and scrubbing the toilet.

Time to sleep.

A thousand times goodnight, star gazers.

P/S: When I came home from my uni studies in Aussie, the first thing I did was to scrub the kitchen toilet at midnight.

Cry baby

I am pathetic.

5 minutes after American Idol had ended and I am still crying.

Did you hear her voice, America? Didnt you hear Janis Joplin, Heart, Joan Jett and Chrissie Hynde in that voice? The grit, the love?

You're a gem. I'm gonna miss you Allison Iraheta.

With love!

What in the name of black mumba, python, king cobra and rattlesnake (cause these are the only ones i know) did you send me?!

G-I-O-V-A-N-N-I!!!

I love the bag!! Though it's not THAT legendary Aigner and I don't fancy the smell that comes along with it, it's vintageness can compensate for that. Aiyoh! Thanks, man!

*speechless*

Ed

P/S: When you say "take care of the bag" does it mean that when you come back here, I'll have to surrender it back to you?

P/P/S: I met your Sinbad and yes...I held my words. But I really wanted to ask him about his shoe size haha.

Another brick on the wall II

What an unfortunate sight ... me slaving over the computer, pulling my hair at random times.

..
..

I am in the middle of creating a textbook for this news writing module which will be offered next semester. It's harrowing but I take a little comfort thinking that news writing is what I am academically trained in (was a journalism major...my uni life was surrounded by words and papercuts).Technically, this shouldnt be a problem.

Hear that, Procrastination?

What will be more horrifying is my next task - producing (1) European Cinema and (2) Screen Theories textbooks. I cannot imagine how much time I will need to come up with something decent. I think they will have to spare me from teaching just so that I can come up with something worth printing and distributing. Yay...more slavish hours :i

Okay.
Back to news writing.

P/S: Very mature, Ed.

You just can't get enough

Iniesta scored in the dying seconds and that's it for Chelsea as the Catalanonians made their way to the final based on an away-goal advantage.

Like I mentioned, it was not much of whom I prefer cause my Man U are waiting for either one in the final showdown. But indeed the idea of not wanting to have an all-England finale did overcome. A lot.

I mean...I feel Barca will put up a great fight against the Devils and if Man U were to lose, there's no other team to lose it to.

But that did not mean Barca played great just now. Chelsea were robbed of great chances and were hampered by some dubious decisions by the referee. Barca did not have many chances but well, sorry Chelsea fans, they had one superb shot and that's all that mattered really.

So... May 27th. If Man U win, I'll bring my Man U jersey to work and wear it. If Barca win, I'll bring my Barca jersey with 'HENRY' written at the back.

I kid.

Sleep.

P/S: But I do have the Barca 'HENRY' jersey...thanks to Adrian

P/S/S: Was so ecstatic when Barca scored that I picked up the mobile and smsed 'Woohooooo!' to the brother in Norway.

Don't take your love to town

We know of diehard fans and ..well, die-hard fans.

Poor fool!

Do the Arsenal players feel your pain?

No, right?

So come on...It's not worth killing yourself. Don't take your love to town, man.

Workingman's blues

Alamak...what in the name of Jose Mourinho...

That was a beautiful goal by Essien. And it's only the 9th minute.

###

Wating for the world to change

I am all for Barcelona cause they play be-yoo-tiful football and I am a fan of Johan Cryuff, Maradona, Romario, Kluivert, Figo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Deco and Messi. But Barca, though exciting, will be a great hindrance to Man U's trophy dream.

And Chelsea...they have my Great Sulk Anelka.

So, come rain come storm (which is happening right now by the way), I don't want to care about who will be making their way to Rome. Man U will be waiting.

Institutionalised

Shopping always makes things slightly better. Even though it's just me sitting here surfing Amazon Books.

I'll wait 1 month for my book to come.

Move it, Avicenna.

Blue velvet

Just a little note from dear ol' Cambridge:

"This (DOCUMENTARY module) is a very stimulating module to review and we imagine, to teach. The standard of work, particularly among the top band of students, was most impressive and the teacher involved should be congratulated at having inspired this group to produce such good results. We reviewed some excellent work on this module. We note that while standards were generally high, there were a few students who, we presume, just couldn’t be bothered which seems a shame given the general enthusiasm displayed by most of the class.

An excellent marker’s report that was most informative. Marking was easy to audit, fair and consistent. Well done."

Yay! I love the students for sharing my passion and enthusiasm.

....but this doesnt make everything okay, cause it's not.

P/S: There's always something to smile for even when the chips are generally fried down.

P/P/S: Former HDMC students, this module is not longer the one you used to take. I have revamped it to include 3 components - essay, preparing a shotlist for production and a film project. Went mad marking them.

That's amore

Habis kau, Almunia!!

It's less than 30 mins left and we're up 3 goals to nothing and ..what.. Fletcher just got red carded for bringing down Persie! Penalty for arsenal...

1 consolation goal and now arsenal is on the mend. Crap. This is not how I wanted to write this entry.

15 more minutes on the clock.

It's one foot in Rome ... If arsenal dont score anymore, we'll all be in Rome tomorrow :)

Sex on fire!

Watched Wolverine and I loved it. But...man, Gambit needs more air time, man!

It's 23 mins into the 2nd leg of the Arsenal-Man U match and wehehehheheheehweheheh we're 2 goals up courtesy of Park and Ronaldo. Tempting as it might be to 'close shop' I hope we'll not slip (especially in the 2nd half) and let Gunners overtake.

Come on, Devils!
Tonight, we dine in hell!!

P/S: No yellow cards...no yellow cards..

Broken strings

When you break down in tears for no apparent reason, and when you really have no desire to fight, to love and to live, something is really horribly wrong.

I feel like I've given up. It sure feels like the scene where Meredith fell into the sea and had no will to rise up to the surface anymore.

Sink.
Sink.
Sink.

Sometimes when I feel blue

I dont feel good and it's work-related. In fact, I have been feeling like this for 3 months already and it has come to a point where I could feel the dread in my throat. I can just throw up just thinking about work.

I have grown more morose and ... I dont know, I hate being me right now. I cant seem to keep up with work cause I really have no heart in doing them. And if you know me, I need heart to do a lot of things cause otherwise, I wont budge. So yeah, others call it procrastination but I'll call it whatever I want to call it.

I need time and space to develop/grow and these are the things I dont have. I am the kind who needs inspiration but I havent been inspired lately. I..I...I...

I feel so selfish and foolish penning this down cause it seems I am so self-absorbed. Again, call it whatever.

I hate this.
It's giving me indigestion.
And chronic melancholia.

Rape me

Landed at 1900hrs last night and stayed till 2230hrs at the airport to send the brother off to Norway.

Right now, I am physically and mentally tired. It's 1100hrs and I need to get my ass to work, pronto.

But...but...I'm tired. It was not a holiday for me okay. I exhausted myself with the parents and their nonsense all the way in Penang. what sort of vacation is that...?

More when I gain my sanity.
