If I'm caught in the middle...

Hey!

Looking for me today?

I am here.

I will be back on Saturday, 3rd June.

However, do keep a look-out for guest bloggers. Heheheh.

Before I go, here’s wishing
- Ting and Grace an advanced HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
- The parents…HAPPY 28th ANNIVERSARY!
- Wei-Xiang a HAPPY ENLISTMENT DAY!

Have a good week, guys. Remember, be nice.

A thousand times goodnight, neighbourhood philosophers.

How do you love?

I am damn sleepy and tired right now.

Sigh.

I just get to some thinking. Sometimes, when things get too comfortable, they are too hard to let go, isn’t it? Then what? Clinging to the thinnest piece of hope? Hoping that with a twist of fate, things will change in your favour? What a not-so genteel girl to do?

How come two people can be so different…and yet, similar at the same time? How come I can see a lot of things but somehow they just paint a big messy picture on a naked eye?

I don’t get life sometimes.
It’s too mean.

There is a song that’s inside of my soul
It's the one that I've tried to write
Over and over again...
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But you sing to me
Over and over and over again

So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours
I pray to be only yours...
I know now you’re my only hope

Sing to me the song of the stars
Of your galaxy dancing
And laughing and laughing again...
When it feels like my dreams so far
Sing to me of the plans that you have for me
Over again

So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours
I pray to be only yours...
I know now you’re my only hope

I give you my destiny
I'm giving you all of me
I want your symphony
Singing in all that I am
At the top of my lungs
I'm giving it back

So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours
I pray to be only yours...
I pray to be only yours...
I know now you’re my only hope
- Only Hope, Mandy Moore

My hopes, my dreams, my salvation. Show me the way for I am tired. But most of all, I feel lonely being engulfed in the dark alone. Rescue me from the perils of disintegration.

I am here.
Is that you, my love?

The end of me

Ouch! My limbs are aching terribly.

(2100hrs, 30th May)
Ed: Hey xxx, this is Ed. Do you have the programme of the Endau Rompin trip?
XXX: No I don’t have. You have?
Ed: No
XXX: Oh..K. Thanks anyway.
Ed: Thanks. See you on Thursday.
XXX: Thursday? You mean tomorrow? Wednesday?
Ed: Ark!!
XXX: You thought we are going on Thursday? We are leaving tomorrow..31st. Wednesday!
Ed: Alamak, I forgot! I thought Thursday! Mati! Die!
XXX: Tomorrow ah!
Ed: Lucky you told me!

I ran around in circles..panicking. Shit, I need to go SG Pools immediately to change my schedule and to submit the timesheet. I almost ran out in my pyjamas – sans undergarment! Grab a sports bra and what-have-yous and immediately ran to the MRT and headed to Selegie. Throughout the journey I was busy sms-ing people, cancelling my Wednesday activities. Was also panicking because I haven’t changed money, packed and other rubbish.

Side-track.
On my way back from SG Pools, I was on the bus watching the re-run of Singapore Idol. I saw my Jonathan Leong Ah Beng on TV! Wah…He sounded damn nice. And he looked good better with cap. Thought I could watch him tomorrow but damn..the trip is tomorrow! Anyway guys, support my 23-year-old Ah Beng okay? My Ah Beng's damn smart you know! Political Science student leh…and still single. Woohoo!

I * heart * smart Ah Beng.
Side-track’s over.

Yeah..got home and packed.
Within 1 hour all's done.
Record time.
I get better each time.

Missing item: torch light, Malaysian currency.

YAWN.

I am tired, man.

Went MacRitchie’s Tree Top Walk at 1130hrs with Wei-xiang, Shu Xiang and Adrian. Took us about 2.5 hours to complete the 10+KM walk.

Oh…you guys should see the look on Adrian’s face when we were on the bridge. He had acrophobia and was seen painstakingly trying to finish his walk across the bridge. It was such a sheer joy to torture him by walking real slowly in front of him and shaking the bridge. Bliss!

And after lunch at Thomson Plaza, we went to play tennis at a condo in Serangoon (SX’s friend’s place). Played for 2 hours and gaaaaah…the ride back home was torturous. My legs were heavy like lead and I stank so bad. Think I just raccoon-ed the whole bus!

Oh. there's a book fair at Thomson Plaza and the books are going off at a damn cheap price. Many books there...look at what Adrian and I found.

And well...look at what had caught me eyes .

"If I'm so wonderful, why am I still single?"

Walking home…had to take the darn overhead bridge. Oh this was when the best part set in. Was half way up when both my knees were attacked with muscle spasm/cramps. I couldn’t move! Had to stop in my tracks and held on tightly to the railings like some senior citizen who lost her walking stick. It was very very painful. Took a while to finish my steps and was hobbling all the way home.

Why was I so gei kiang to go hiking and then play tennis?
Because I thought I had one day to recuperate!
I thought the trip was on Thursday, remember?
Now I have to go through hiking and other jungle activities again without a rest.
Bloody hell!

Man.

Anyway tennis was frustrating because:
1) I sucked
2) I couldn’t stand being sucky.

Yeah. What to do…I am competitive and I hate being sucky. Even though I hadn’t touched a tennis racquet for 5-6 years, I still hate that I sucked. Ting, you can understand this feeling right? Would have flung the racquet but it wasn’t mine. Yes Ismail, I promise I will NEVER fling your badminton racquet again. Then best…I got whacked in the eye, no thanks to Adrian. But revenge was sweet because I whacked a ball into his left cheek.

Sweet.

Ah…wonder if the trackpants and shorts on the laundry line are dry…

Some night, huh?

My nights are killing me.

Sometimes I do not see the point in doing and telling the right thing. There are some who just do not buy sincerity and honesty. Might as well I lie, right? At least the guilt comes later … after I have enjoyed my game of bluff.

Yes. Sometimes I do have a problem with morals.

Oh!

HAPPY 28TH BIRTHDAY, SHARINAH!!!

Seriously, it's family.

Just read the severity of the Central Java earthquake. Wonder if Pak Wim’s relatives in Solo are affected. Heck..wonder if I have any relatives in Java who are affected. I am sure there are. Both my sets of grandparents are from Java … so I am sure there are some “lost” relatives there. Hope they are all okay then. Got no money for me to remit.

Urgh.
I feel lousy.

Anyway, I had a weird kinky dream. I was on a date with an obviously kinky person whom I couldn’t make out who he was (blurred face, lah). He then brought me to the movies.

Ed: Hey what movie are we watching?
Man: It’s a family show.
Ed: Oh…
(In the cinema. Movie started)
Ed: Eh, why is the colour of the movie a bit “soft”?
Man: Just watch.
Ed: Eh…why the daughter naked? Eh why the father comes in?
Man: Heheh. Family movie, mah!
Ed: IDIOT!! It’s an incest show!
Man: Ssshh!

I then woke up happy.

Weird.

Your friendly Irish stout

My crazy weekend is over and for the next 3 days, I have nothing to do. Okay…nothing major to do. Anyway, got some pictures from Sha. Hahaha. We’re damn bo liao people.

Don't ask me why the vertically pictures appeared so weird.

Awrite.
That’s about it for the birthday gathering, I think.

Bookie training was a bagful of mixed feelings. The first 2 hours were a drag as I sat there sullenly staring at the monitor screen and at the phone. CY2 came late so she sat at the back and when it was time for our dinner break, I couldn’t find her. Apparently she had left the place because she wasn’t feeling quite “well”.

But the suckier part was when I realised I didn’t bring my purse. So during break time, I sat by the roadside talking to CY2 and Sharinah…and also listening to the band which was singing Chinese songs downstairs.

Sitting alone…waiting for time to pass.

Was made to listen to the prepaid card and extended briefing for the 3rd time. Guess they didn’t know I had attended it before…and I even had extended briefing/dual agent training already last Friday. But well.. I didn’t tell them because the briefing took a good 30 minutes off sitting stone-cold waiting for calls. Oh, I think I am losing my voice. It went all low and husky throught bookie training. I think it must have been due to the KTV and clubbing sessions.

Anyway, post-dinner and briefing was a swift delight. I finally loosened up and talked to Phua, this damn funny and wu liao mentor. He and Fino thought I was a Chinese. Then this NUS guy came and sat beside me and he too helped to make time go faster.

NUS: Ah..you’re Mona. Any trouble with the script?
Ed: No. I just hope I don’t get a customer who speaks Chinese.
NUS: But you can just read the text here (pointing to the script).
Ed: Erm..no. I cant read Chinese. I am not a Chinese.
NUS: You’re not?
Ed: No I am not. I’m a Malay.
NUS: But “Mona” doesn’t sound like a Malay name.
Ed: Well it is if you say it with a Malay accent.
NUS: Ah?
Ed: Never mind. Well…technically, the name is Irish. Do I look Irish to you?
NUS: Hahahaha.

Anyway Clara sms-ed me telling me that the singer whom we saw at Timbre on Friday was on Singapore Idol and his name was Jonathan Leong. So I went to the website and gaaaaaaaaaaah…so beng!

He wasn’t this beng when I saw him that night, leh! I thought he looked better than this? I think I was blind that night. Or maybe, the cap and shades he was wearing were great disguises. What gave me the impression that he looked like Jay Chou? I must have been intoxicated by Liah’s cranberry bacardi.

And he’s only 23???? *slaps forehead* Ed is a paedophile.

I give up in eyeing men. Tsk tsk tsk. I’ve got poor taste, poor judgement. Hahahaha.

O well.

It’s almost 0500hrs and I can feel a lack-of-sleep kind of headache creeping up. Besides, I’ve got nothing else witty or entertaining to write about. Tomorrow hopefully will be a great day. Don’t have any thing planned tomorrow so maybe, I’ll go to the library to do some reading.

Nothing hectic or crazy tomorrow, please. I need some downtime.

There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That's a fact
It's a thing we can't deny
Like the fact that I will love you 'till I die

We are twelve billion light years from the edge
That's a guess
No one can ever say it's true
But I know that I will always be with you

I'm warmed by the fire of your love every day
So don't call me a liar
Just believe everything that I say…

There are six billion people in the world
More or less
And it makes me feel quite small
But you're the one I love the most of all

We're high on a wire with the world in our sight
And I'll never tire
Of the love that you give me every night

There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That's a fact
It's a thing we can't deny
Like that fact that I will love you 'till I die
And there are nine million bicycles in Beijing
And I know that I will love you 'till I die
- Nine Million Bicyles, Katie Melua

Love this. Soothing and sweet. Just what I need.

A thousand times goodnight, honey rollers.

The day after Saturday

Sharinah's mother didnt want her to go out today(!!!!???).
So Meiling and I had to cancel the birthday lunch treat.
What a bummer.

Okay...not really. Hahaha. More rest time for me before hitting bookie training later which will last till midnight.

Wonder if they let me do Extended Betting tonight. It is somehow more fun with the alert scrollers rushing you and irritating the hell out of you at the same time with its incessant ringing. Hah. Wonder how it is going to be later.

Oh, my left kneecap still feels loose. Urgh. Lousy.

Later tonight.

Saturday's Twisted Fun

Tired. Freaking tired. But…still not as tired as I can maximum-ly be. I couldn’t wake up for NPCC because I was so tired from Friday’s antics. Tough.

Just got back from HRC with Sharinah, Liah, Caiying and Man Hon. Kellyn was there too but didn’t really hang out with her. Maybe next time. Well, minus the very slow start and the constant over-indulgence of the occasional "live" band, I had a good time. I just hope the rest had too. Danced like mad (I mean..MAD!) and erm..now, I think, I have one loose left knee cap.

Lauren picked me up at 1340hrs and we both headed to Kallang McD’s in our uniform. The cabby was a bit tickled when we told him that we were going to a theme party. He also asked if I was really a St Nicks’ girl. He wanted to send his daughter there next year.

Virgin shot of the day.

We reached McD around 1400hrs and many guests were already there. Most of the them came gamely in school uniforms. We also had a “discipline mistress” in the house…who was caught smoking at the carpark outside. Hahaha. It was hilarious.

Ting – Thai school girl
Grace – Thai school girl
Sha – CHIJ St Joseph’s Convent
Susan – CHIJ Toa Payoh
Ismail – Regent Sec
Jason – ITE boy
Lauren – St Anthony’s Convent
Joanne – ITE girl
Ed – CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School

Tam, Stef, Lorri and Cheryl were also there. Tam won Best Dressed Guest…which was deserving because she really looked out-of-this-world. Lorri and hubby won Best Dressed Couple and erm…yours truly won something along the line of Best Dressed Convent Girl. Can die…I wasn’t qualified actually. I didn’t wear shorts underneath my uniform.

Anyway, the party finally got started and the McD staff had 2 games in store for us. It was funny because the staff was probably younger than us and she was DAMN serious. We were all fooling around and being total brats. The staff kept a totally straight face…probably dulan with us. Tough.

We gave Ting an assortment of rubbish – stationery, brick game, Old Maid card, bubble balloons, etc.

Hahahahahaha. The last shot is a token neighbourhood mat-and-beng shot. Next…a group of blue-pinafore-clad girls thought they were Pussycat Dolls.

As we were all fed with Happy Meal, we were also given toys and other toys. It was funny to see Ismail opening his packet of nuggets…only to find out that there were 4 pieces instead of the usual 6. Duh..HAPPY MEAL!

Then the perverted neighbourhood school boy decided to check out what’s underneath my uniform.

We were all chased out by McD at about 1545hrs because they had another party after that. We lingered outside and took some more pictures at the carpark. Then Susan left us to go to another gathering while Gideon (Ting’s friend) joined us for karaoke at Apollo Centre. Yup, we (sans Gideon who took them off) all went there in our school uniform.

Hahaha this is our blasphemous attempt at trying to recreate the Last Supper shot. From this picture, it seems like Ismail was “Jesus”.

KTV session ended at 200hrs and we then headed to Fisherman’s Wharf down the road for some yummy fishy dinner.

Will post some funny pictures from Sha’s camera. There were a few shots of Sha and I screaming to Bohemian Rhapsody in our un-belted pinafores…looking like pregnant rockstars.

And yes…Nani, your presence was greatly missed.
Hope you are having a good time in Malaysia.

Ting and Grace…hope you guys had a wonderful time. I certainly did. Thanks for coming up with such a creative and fun celebration. I think I behaved a bit too "wild" today but haha, it was all for a good cause. Heh! Also, hope you like the birthday present (the shoes!!) and Grace, yours is coming too! I wonder if the next birthday (the August babies) can be as crazy as this. Jay and Nani, the theme of Occupation Night really sounds challenging and exciting at the same time. It will DEFINITELY be a kinky affair, I tell you. Cant wait.

Rushed home at 2200hrs and in 20 minutes I was again out of the house to meet Liah and Sharinah. Am kicking myself in the head for ambitiously wanting to club after a hectic day week…but gurls (and a guy!), it was bootyliciously fun.

Time now is 0715hrs and I am feeling quite awake still. Am meeting Sharinah and Meiling for lunch later to celebrate Sharinah’s ..ahem..28th birthday. Hope we are not going somewhere far. Predict that my legs will give way later. Also later at 1800hrs, I will also have my bookie training. Aiyoh…sian.

The day has been too hectic and noisy. I am losing my voice after the KTV and I am losing my hearing after clubbing. I need something subdued and calming.

I want to go fishing.

See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side
I wait for you
Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait without you
With or without you
With or without you

Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And I’m waiting for you
With or without you
With or without you
I can’t live
With or without you

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

My hands are tied
My body bruised
She’s got me with
Nothing to win and
Nothing left to lose

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

With or without you
With or without you
I can’t live
With or without you
- U2, With Or Without You

I am god damn tired.
But well…life is something that we have to get through with.
Wonder if I can wake up in time later.

A thousand times goodnight, hungover party people.
