And the plot thickens.
Specimen A: Are you there?
Ed: Yes...how are you feeling?
Specimen A: Better now actually and excited just thinking about you.
Ed: Oh..wo-key.
Specimen A: How I wish I can hug you, kiss your neck...
Ed: Dont you think this is a bit forward? [yes, Ed's a prude like that]
Specimen A: Sincerity is good.
Silence.
Specimen A: Did I upset you? I am just attracted to you.
Ed: Nah...I'm not upset.
Specimen A: I hope you dont think of me as a psycho or something.
Ed: I appreciate the sincerity haha but it is bordering on psycho. [this part came out together with his words]
Silence.
Ed: Omigawd we said the same thing. Ah, that's freaky.
Specimen A: You see! Connection!
Ed: You must excuse me, I'm a cynic when it comes to love.
Specimen A: I'm a cynic too. And we are not even talking about love, just attraction.
Ed: I'm cynic and a pessimist. I'm depressing!
Specimen A: I am attracted to you. I'm sorry to say this.
Ed: No dont be sorry. Yes, I do attract people. Even my students were attracted to me haha.
Specimen A: Please choose me!
Ed: Slowly...slowly.
Silence.
Specimen A: Choose me.
Ed: How can you say that? You dont know me.
Specimen A: You mean all these chats are fake?
Ed: [God, he's gone all emo!] No no.
Specimen A: I believe in all these. Attraction.
Ed: All right all right. Join the queue.
Specimen A: A queue...?
Ed: Well, I am sure you have a queue of girls on your list too.
Specimen A: What do you mean? What do you mean that I have other girls on a list? How can you assume that?
Ed: Easy...easy...
Specimen A: Good night.
Oh bitch, please!
Oh suddenly he's offended now? Let's see how it goes tomorrow. I'm not gonna apologise. What did I do? And why is he behaving like he's the girl here? Tsk tsk tsk. What is the world coming too?
Laughable, really.
All right back to me. I wonder if you guys get enjoyment reading about my "road to self-destruction" stories. It's exclusive here by the way. My friends know I dont talk about these things in the open. Hah.
W.O.R.K.

Hallelujah I Love Her So
Argh.
So depressing.
After almost 8 years, I finally caught Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon this morning in preparation for my Film Class in the afternoon. And then, I watched it again during the class. 2 times back to back and now, I feel so depressed.
What I've learnt - True love dies.

I love Michelle Yeoh.
It's a beautiful movie and I've really fallen in love with it. The Gobi deserts, the mountains, the forest, the waterfalls...lovely. Most of all, I love the poetic language. Beautiful.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Li Mu Bai: I would rather be a ghost drifting by your side as a condemned soul than enter heaven without you... because of your love, I will never be a lonely spirit
...
Yu Shu Lien: To repress one's feelings only makes them stronger.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Sounds cheesy but hahaha, when they said them on celluloid, the words sound so nice.
Movie is overrated but you must understand, I am not an avid Chinese-film follower. Even if I am, you must admit, this is different than normal. Have you checked out the cinematography and other camera techniques? This is Lee Ang. It's so Lee Ang. I could see Brokeback Mountain in those tigers and dragons.
Oh well.
If the sky opened up for me,
And the mountain disappeared,
If the seas ran dry, turned to dust
And the sun refused to rise
I would still find my way,
By the light I see in your eyes
The world I know fades away
But you stay
As the earth reclaims it due
And the cycle starts anew
We'll stay, always
In the love that we have
Shared before time
If the years take away
Every memory that I have
I would still know the way
That would lead me back to your side
The north star may die
But the light that I see in your eyes
Will burn there always
Lit by the love we have
Shared before time
When the forest turns to jade
And the stories that we've made
Dissolve away
One shining light will still remain
When we shed our earthly skin
And when our real life begins
There'll be no shame
Just the love that we have made before time - Love Before Time, Coco Lee
Another day, another drama.

A Little Bit More
Good morning, loyal subjects. Heh.
Specimen A: How's your day?
Ed: I'm tired.
Specimen A: Me too. I'm tired because of you.
Ed: What?! [I wanted to say "What the fuck have I got to do with you?" but let's be a lady here]
Specimen A: I am tired from work and thinking about us the whole time?
Ed: Us? What us? You dont even know me.
Specimen A: Ah, I think I know you more than you know it.
Ed: O-kay. You're confident.
Specimen A: Not in me...in us.
Ed: What?
Specimen A: Yes, I picture us together and how beautiful it will be.
Ed: How can you say that when you dont even know that person...and that you've only seen her pictures?
Specimen A: I believe in our chats and your pictures.
Ed: *gulp* wo-key...you scare me.
Specimen A: What are you scared of?
Ed: It's weird that someone can say all these things to a stranger!
Specimen A: You're no stranger. I like the honesty. I like what I see and read.
Ed: How can you be so sure?
Specimen A: I have faith!
Ed: Okay...I am short, fat and a geek. How about that?
Specimen A: How short?
Ed: barely 1.55. Like Kylie Minogue, only less sexy.
Specimen A: That's all right and as for the Kylie Minogue part, hahaha!
Ed: Hmmm
Specimen A: And I like geeks.
God.
How can you top that?

The crying game
One night over stupid MSN...
Specimen A: So, pray tell, where do you like to be kissed?
Ed: Err...judging by my lack of height, it has to be the forehead.
Specimen A: You're funny.
Ed: I know.

Anyone who has a heart
Wait wait.
Wanna wish happy birthday to my bitch, lauren lee pei yee.
HAPPY 28th BIRTHDAY, LAO LEE!!!
Hope it's a good one this year.
..
..
..
I fell asleep watching music clips from the 90s on MTV at 2345hrs. Felt a bit nostalgic, felt a bit old and ...whoosh, I fell asleep. Of course before that, I had to fight off a barrage of smses from Specimen A/Franco. In the end, I told him I have friends who were from out of town and I had to entertain them for at least a week.
Dont be clingy.
I dont even know you.
That means I have one more week to gather my chicken feathers together and meet him. That is, if he is still interested then. Que sera sera.
I have a mountain of work in front of me.
Cant wait for the one week CNY break.
Club!!
When I get to the bottom
I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and turn
and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Do you don't you want me to love you
I'm coming down fast but I'm miles above you
Tell me tell me come on tell me the answer
and you may be a lover but you ain't no dancer
Go helter skelter
helter skelter
helter skelter
Yeah, hu, hu
I will you won't you want me to make you
I'm coming down fast but don't let me break you
Tell me tell me tell me the answer
You may be a lover but you ain't no dancer
Look out
Helter skelter
helter skelter
helter skelter
Yeah, hu, hu
Look out cause here she comes - Helter Skelter, Beatles
"You may be a lover but you ain't no dancer"
haha, I like that.
Okay, here's where I type the 4-letter word again:
WORK.
P/S: Realise I have stopped talking about wanting to be in love? I realise I dont want it after all. Love scares the bejesus out of me.

Woman Trouble
My nerves have gone all Woody Allen on me.
No it is not because of the first date thingy.
There's more to this scandalous part of my life.
Right.
Let's just call him Specimen A or Franco. I've got a few messages from him in class today and well, receiving them made me nervous and gave me tummy knots. Not in a good way, for sure. He wanted it to be tonight. I lied and told him I have class till 2200hrs. I would have said till midnight but that's stretching it. I am still feeling sick just thinking of the possibility. I am sure he is a nice guy but it's just that ... I..I..I dont want to be in an awkward position. Position, as in "situation" and not that kind of position.
Fine.
It's not you, it's me.
I still havent replied his last message. And he knows where I work. You may ask why am I feeling like this. I dont know. Like I said, I have a complex social disorder. I am neurotic to the bones and tensed and I definitely hate to be alone with a stranger. What the hell can I say to a stranger? And I'm a walking paranoia. Do I smell bad? Is that chocolate in my teeth? Is my hair too dry? Is my voice too loud? Is my speech slurring like it always does? Am I too eager? Too passive? Do I talk too much? Can I make lame jokes? When can I make them? How about dirty jokes? A racist one?
See?
And then there's Specimen B or EuropaDiscoDancer. This one is a bit complicated. Cant reveal much here lest I want more heckling from you guys. I just told Idaho about this over a drink 30 minutes ago and she hasnt stopped giving me the funny looks. Whatever it is, it is not my fault and I didnt do anything.
I told Idaho how EuropaDiscoDancer gave me the creeps. In fact, I told her how everyone was giving me the heebeejeebies and that I had become a socially inept person. Anyway, this EuropaDiscoDancer is an enigma. Wait, I think he thinks I am an enigma. Under normal circumstances I would be flattered but EuropaDiscoDancer is not a species of normal circumstances. Okay maybe he means no harm. Maybe I think too much. Maybe I am chicken shit. Maybe I cluck.
Maybe.
I am literally having cold feet. So kids, the lessons of the day are:
1) Never start what you cannot finish.
2) Wear warm clothes in a cold environment.
3) When unsure, be vague.
Go home, Ed.
P/S: I am gonna be on invisible mode on MSN for the time being. Just leave me a message. I'll be online when the sun doesnt shine.

The First Night
What have I got myself into this time round?
Why doesnt he get it that I am practically a nun?
I am running out of reasons and I can feel cold feet creeping in.
I hate going out on first dates.
Why must I do this in the first place?
It's like putting myself in the auction market.
Urgh.
I dont want to go to a park with a stranger.
Somebody help me.
..
..
I am scared.
I think I shall go lie down.
A thousand times goodnight, haunting owls.

Karma chameleon
There was a cute Malay boy sitting at the table across mine. Think he is doing his uni assignments. Of course I was distracted.
But he's gone now.
And my headache's back.
Hungry.

Whoop, there it is!
Gigi, who has nothing better to do on this cloudy Sunday, tagged me.
I, who have nothing better to do on this cloudy Sunday, will do it.
1. At what age you wish to marry?
Before the Golden Age definitely. 30 is ideal but i am 28 now and still single. So..ho hum.
2. What color do you like most?
Blue..any kind of blue.
3. Where is the place you want to go most?
Yes, a torturous question indeed. Right now, I can think of southern Spain.
4. Which part of you do you hate most?
i try to love all of them so that they be good and listen to me. But the stomach is a bit rebellious.
5. When you encounter a sad moment, what do you do?
Cry, swear, chocolates, blog about it ... in no particular order.
6. What are you afraid to lose the most?
this one is the same as Gigi's answer: My inability to love. how true.
7. If you win $1 million, what would you do?
go Malaysia/Indonesia/Hong Kong and shop. RM2.5 millions!
8. How did you celebrate the New Year.
by the Kallang river with good friends and sparkling juice and sparklers. happy times have those who arechildish child-like.
9. Till now what is the moment you regret most?
Man is always the downfall of a woman. There was one girl, one boy by the river one night. No...there was no sex. No...that wasnt why I regret it.
10. Which type of person do you hate the most?
One who doesnt wish to seek improvement and challenges.
11. What is your ambition?
To see other cultures and civilisations.
12. If you have one wish, what would you wish for?
Everyone to be in good health.
13. Name one of your body parts your hubby or boyfriend tells you he adores.
2 words - naked boobs. Hahahahahhahahahaa...ok, maybe that was what I wanted to hear. Okay I dont know. doo doo doo doo.
14. What is the best gift you can give someone this year?
my time. I am serious. it's gonna be a tiring busy year.
15. List two of your Top Ten New Year’s Resolutions.
(i) start jogging again
(ii) dont buy 3 pairs of shoes in one sitting.Buy 4!
16. What do you need to do this year in order for you to be happier in life?
have sex plan and save for my future
17. What's the best lesson in 2007 (be specific).
A job is just a chore if you dont put in passion and teaching is not about the students, but about yourself.
18. In this very moment, are you doing what you thought you’d be doing at this stage in your life?
I thought I would be much attached and be preparing for marriage...and with a remarkable career to boot. Too typical. It makes me sick. So to answer the question, it's a loud NO.
19. If you knew tomorrow was the final day of existence, what would you do today?
Go for a walk with my parents, close relatives and friends and then pray for forgiveness. Pray until the cows come home. Have a really good shower. Will ask my mother, sister and aunties to scrub me while I am still alive. The next time they do it, I'm dead.
20. If you wanted people to say one thing about you at your funeral, what would that be?
Here lies someone who listens to the calls of the wind, bringing her passion wherever she lands.
..
..
Am supposed to tag it back so if you are reading this, just tag yourself. You can just answer the questions in your heart or just reflect on it. No biggie.
Back to work.

She works hard for the money
My head is pounding.
This is like a hangover sans the alcohol.
Thanks to a certain St James last night.
After a quick bite with Idaho downtown, I rushed to Vivo to meet Din and Fifi. Dragged them to catch a show with me. And hahaha, they never seemed to enjoy the stuff I wanted to watch. This is another evidence.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is a long, tedious and complicated son-of-a-bitch kind of film. The long Southern drawl didnt help either. Strangely still TAoJJ intrigued me. I didnt fall asleep and I yawned only 3 times. And no...it's not because Bradley Pitt is in it. Or Casey Affleck.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Jesse James: Go back to bed.
Robert Ford: I got to use the privy.
Jesse James: You think you do, but you don't.
...
Charley Ford: You think it's all made up don't ya? You think it's all yarns and newspaper stories.
Robert Ford: He's just a human being.
...
Jesse James: Do you want to be like me? Or do you want to BE me?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
TAoJJ moves like a crippled man across the Saharan deserts - slow and stressful. If stressful tension is what director Andrew Dominick wants us to feel, then this film is a remarkable, no, stupendous masterpiece. The acting chops of Brad Pitt and men are first class and the cinematography and sound (by Nick Cave!) are breathtaking.
Trust me, the scenery is breathtaking. And because the pacing is slow and the length is so long (2hr 40mins, go figure), you can scan every pixel of the sky, the fields, the forest - every pixel, back and forth, diagonal and inverted.
For a Western film, TAoJJ doesnt have much action. Even if there is one (the train robbery), it is done artistically and with much surrealism. The part where Jesse James was shot was so artistically poignant, I cannot imagine Brad Pitt doing it. I mean come on, this is the regular jock who did Thelma and Louise, Seven (Love it!!), Fight Club, Legends of the Fall, etc. He was never artistic. Ah, and I love him more.
Oh, what? Fifi and Din?
Those 2 companions?
Asleep.
Sorry guys for dragging you to this.
This is like Half Nelson all over again for you two.
Hehehehe.
We met Yiling and Yushan after that and headed to Marche. Didnt take any pictures cause most of us were famished. Oh, they gave me a birthday present!

A non-sporty watch!
Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
After that, around 2300hrs, after much deliberation, we headed to St James Powerhouse's The Boiler Room. I had fun there. We then went out and checked out Dragonfly and the PowerHouse before leaving at 0300hrs. By 0430hrs, I was concussed and woke up 7hours later with a massive headache.
The image of the petite suspected-gay performer at The Boiler Room gave me nightmare.
It must be the big afro hair.
Am here at the library trying to do my freelance projects. I have 2 separate projects and I have no idea how and when I can finish them. I am so screwed. But I so need the money.
Am so broke it is not even funny.
Okay, work.

Okay, work.

Up where we belong
If the passing of one moves you to tears
The cemeteries will be flooded eventually.
But yes, sad poetic words of the passing shall not go unnoticed.
...yawn...
I shouldnt be at work.
I should be in my NPCC uniform having fun and shaping our future leaders.
Been in the office for 2 hours already and I havent really done jack shit.
Productive, indeed.
Being the very free person that I was, I decided to catch a show last night and managed to rope in Lauren as well. So after work, we made our way down to Plaza Singapura and rested our asses on the uncomfortable seats of GV.

ATONEMENT boasts beauty - cinematography, costumes, sounds - but I wasnt gripped into it and when the film ended, I was perplexed. I felt slighly ... empty. I felt like, plot-wise, there was much hoo-ha over nothing. The acting wasnt that great and the story didnt make me jump for joy, or bawl in manic sadness, or depress in melancholic bleakness. Nothing.
Maybe I had too high an expectation.
Or maybe the busy chatter of a young couple sitting behind me and the loud talking-on-the-phone stupid woman sitting in front of me spoilt the whole show.
...
...
Okay, maybe it was these idiots who made the whole experience sucky.
ATONEMENT couldnt have been that bad.

Cecilia Tallis: I love you. I'll wait for you. Come back. Come back to me.
...
Robbie Turner: The story can resume. I will return. Find you, love you, marry you and live without shame.
...
Robbie Turner: [about the letter he sent her] It was a mistake.
Cecilia Tallis: Briony read it.
Robbie Turner: I'm so sorry, it was the wrong version.
Cecilia Tallis: Yes.
Robbie Turner: It was never meant to be read.
Cecilia Tallis: No. What was in the version I was meant to read?
Robbie Turner: Don't know... it was more formal, and less...
Cecilia Tallis: Anatomical?
Robbie Turner: Yes.
...
Older Briony: So, my sister and Robbie were never able to have the time together they both so longed for... and deserved. Which ever since I've... ever since I've always felt I prevented. But what sense of hope or satisfaction could a reader derive from an ending like that? So in the book, I wanted to give Robbie and Cecilia what they lost out on in life. I'd like to think this isn't weakness or... evasion... but a final act of kindness. I gave them their happiness.

I woke up this morning at 0700hrs, on the floor ... after again falling asleep while reading the papers the night before at 0200hrs. While waiting for the pins and needles in my right hand to subside before I could actually lift meself off the floor, I stared at the ceiling, thinking about the movie, re-enacting every scene one by one. Then it hit me, ATONEMENT is a briiliant story.
God. This is like Brokeback Mountain and Cold Mountain (yeah, I like mountains) all over again. I didnt get it the first time round...only to love it later.
Well, what can I say? ATONEMENT is a great story, especially after reading in-depth analysis of the original novel. The lines are well-crafted and it is a very complicated story. Shit, I need to get the book. I have a feeling the documented words will move me more than the celluloid drama.
Shall go get the book.
..
..
..
Gah!
I've become one of those who read books after watching the stories on film.
Oh by the way, ATONEMENT featured the beach and the Seven Sisters of Sussex, England. I was so excited when I saw them and turned around to Lauren, proclaiming quietly, "I was there on top of those cliffs alone. So beautiful."

Man, I didnt know there were houses beyond the cliffs.
If I had known, I would have begged for shelter and a warm cup of tea.
I couldnt feel my limbs due to the cold.
Anyway yeah...I was there one lonely chilly afternoon in Seaford, East Sussex. Like I told those who were willing to listen, I stood on the pebbly beach, shivering in my t-shirt, gypsy skirt and lame cardigan, contemplating if I should climb the cliff or make a u-turn back to the bus stop. The clouds above the English Channel didnt look too friendly and the sea gulls were flying too near for comfort. It was about 1500hrs and I was the only one there. It turned out I climbed the cliff after all, cursing and swearing when I was nowhere up nor down.
But yes, the view at the top was majestic. Even though it was just a bed of sea ... it was majestic. The cold...dont get me started. Basically I survived thanks to Damien Rice's The Blower's Daughter and REM's Everybody Hurts which were ringing in my head constantly.
I took a lot of pictures...with lots of difficulty of course; trying hard not to be blown away, trying to hold my pee, trying to stop shiverring so that I could aim (my lenses, not pee). Unfortunately, like every tragedy written in history, something was bound to go wrong. I lost that particular roll of film. Gone...just like my money at the end of that month. So yes...I have no pictures of myself standing in front of the English Channel.
Okay.
Nostalgia aside.
Back to work.
Later meeting the guys for a bit of ..*swoon* Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck in The Assassination of Jesse James.
P/S: I bought The Magnificent Seven DVD on Thursday and saw it yesterday. I'd never enjoyed a cowboy/western fare (apart from Labu Labi western bar scene) but now, I'm such a fan. I want to buy The Good, The Bad & The Ugly now.

Animal Nitrate
Totally concussed last night. After dinner with Idaho and MamaManny at Breeks, I broke away and walked around Marina Square (okay, just Zara and Dorothy Perkins) on my own. Nothing exciting caught my eyes so I bus-ed home. The bus journey from Marina Square killed me. Took a bloody long time, the air con was freezing and the silly TV Mobile was blaring like nobody's business.
I slept on the floor while reading the papers at 2315hrs. Could also be due to the hydogen sulphide-d air produced by the sister's smelly terrapins under her bed. Farking smelly. Woke up at 0630hrs with lenses still stuck to the eyeballs. Had a bloody long shower and by the time I was done, it was time to head to work.
I will throw them today.
Throw them to the farthest corner of the kitchen.
I dont want to be salmonella-ed.
Okay, it's a lazy Friday... just the way I like it. After 4 days of preparing lessons and having classes, I like to just molt at my desk from morning till knock off-time, listening to angry rock songs. Yes, I am an angry person. Bite me.
"Ilyana": [looking at my students' ad campaign] You mean your students did this?
Ed: Yes, for their advertising project.
"Ilyana": Wow, you mean they know how to do this? Higher Diploma?
Ed: Yes.
"Ilyana": [picking up a few samples] These are very good yeah
Ed: Not really. The ads are not well-made and product placing not good. This one is too cluttered, not very aesthetically pleasing.
"Ilyana": Oh...got such a thing, ah? [Picking up another sample] I dont understand this one.
Ed: Ah, some are not that easy to decipher.
"Ilyana": You know, there are many ads on TV which I dont understand.
Ed: Yeah...many.
"Ilyana": Especially this..this..mocca.com with the man and he didnt wea..
Ed: [cut in cause couldnt be bothered to listen] I like that.
"Ilyana": I dont understand that one and it is terrible.
Ed: It's funny. It's a bit disgusting but everyone remembers it.
"Ilyana": I dont understand that one. How can people like to watch that?
Ed: Well I find it funny and besides, people remember it. So it serves its point.
"Ilyana": It doesnt make sense, you know.
Ed: [fed up] It doesnt have to make sense. We dont like it but others, like kids and teenagers find it funny.
"Ilyana": Is it? I dont understand. I dont get it. It doesnt make sense.
Ed: [very fed up] If you want to make sense, go read the newspapers.
Think I sounded too rude but really, I couldnt give a rat's ass. "Ilyana" is just half a step below my direct superior by the way and she can always tell the management what a rude bitch I am. Not that they will listen to her too, considering what a tragic joke she can be. However, I am not afraid. 6 months working with incorrigible people makes me one too.
By the way, on Tuesday, "Ilyana" came to me and passed me a belated birthday gift. I was touched of course. She didnt have to (yada yada) but oh well. I thanked her and just before I knocked off, I opened the gift. It was...

Strepsils, neh.
Extra Strong!

So funny.
When she has handing me the gift, she said, "This is just a small thing. In [country where she's from], this is a traditional gift to teachers."

Wo-key.
P/S: I appreciated Strepsils and the gesture of kindness. I just found it funny, that's all.
P/P/S: Another colleague passed me this biscuit she bought from her hometown. She didnt know if I could eat it or not so I checked the box she was holding. There was "lemak khinzir" (lard) written on it. I mean, I dont eat at halal establishments but it doesnt mean that I eat lard. B-lard-y hell...lucky didnt eat. That tau sar piah looked so harmless!
P/P/S/S: But thanks for asking :)

Hanya suatu persinggahan
Engkau bagai air yang jernih
Di dalam bekas yang berdebu
Zahirnya kotoran itu terlihat
Kesucian terlinding jua
Cinta bukan hanya di mata
Cinta hadir di dalam jiwa
Biarlah salah di mata mereka
Biar perbezaan terlihat antara kita
Kuharapkan kau kan terima
Walau dipandang hina
Namun hakikat cinta kita
Kita yang rasa
Suatu hari nanti
Pastikan bercahaya
Pintu akan terbuka
Kita langkah bersama
Di situ kita lihat
Bersinarlah hakikat
Debu jadi permata
Hina jadi mulia
Bukan khayalan yang aku berikan
Tapi keyakinan yang nyata
Kerana cinta lautan berapi
Pasti akan kurenang jua
Back to work

Dancer in the dark
Am experiencing a tragic lull period in my life.
Nothing is worth giving a shot anymore.
This feels slightly beyond jaded.
I go to bed, wake up for work, go to classes, back to my office, do class prep, I go home, I do class prep, go to bed, wake up for work, go to classes, back to my office, do class prep, I go home...ariston and on and on and on and on. Just how pathetic can life be?
I am tired of putting up a front in front of people. Truth is, I dont know if I like whatever is it I am doing. I dont like to talk and yet my job requires me to talk non-stop. I dont like to be nice but yet, I am told by the boss that the student is king. I dont like all these clothes I am wearing to work. I dont like these shoes. I dont like these bags. Heck, I dont like carrying bags.
Sadly, you plough on cause you dont want to make a fuss; to be a difficult thorn in the flesh. You cant convince people around you that their lives are a sham. You cant convince yourself sometimes that life is worth waking up for. You join the robotic motion of climbing up and down escalators and join the performance that general consensus has choreographed for you. You shake, you move, you dance ... but the co-ordination fails you. Your rhythm is out of sync with the rest.
Do you screw the rest and dance to your own tune?
When will I be free and be me?
Not some cold, urban worker with the need to run in and out of MRT stations?
I dont even know why am I still in the office at this time when there is no reason to stay.
And people say work then came and made us free. Rat race. Bloody rat race.
........
Libraries gave us power
Then work came and made us free
What price now for a shallow piece of dignity
I wish I had a bottle
Right here in my dirty face to wear the scars
To show from where I came
We dont talk about love
Then work came and made us free
What price now for a shallow piece of dignity
I wish I had a bottle
Right here in my dirty face to wear the scars
To show from where I came
We dont talk about love
We only want to get drunk
And we are not allowed to spend
As we are told that this is the end
A design for life
A design for life
A design for life
A design for life
I wish I had a bottle
Right here in my pretty face to wear the scars
To show from where I came
We dont talk about love we only want to get drunk
And we are not allowed to spend
As we are told that this is the end
A design for life
A design for life
A design for life
A design for life - Manic Street Preachers
And we are not allowed to spend
As we are told that this is the end
A design for life
A design for life
A design for life

I've come to the stage where I understand every gibberish muttered by The Manics and John Lennon.
And I dont even need weed to help me.
God bless us all.

Land Down Under
I didnt realise that I wrote on 2 Aussie men back to back.
I miss Australia.
Yes yes, I said I didnt want to step into that wretched place anytime soon because of my sad story with visa applications. I still dont know where the hell I went wrong. Maybe they knew I was in the student riot thrice. Maybe they knew of my anti-Aussie government research papers. Maybe they lost my health records and refused to admit their fault. Maybe they thought I was on Aussie weed and would like to get some if I should return.
Sodomites.

You'll be safe here
Another thespian bites the dust and it's Heath Ledger this time. I like this guy since Home and Away ... when he was that hunk of a surfer dude down at Summer Bay. When I see him again on 10 Things I Hate About You, I (and the rest of the world I suppose) was charmed.
This is tragic.

Perth wouldnt have done that to you, Heath.
It wouldnt.
So long, Ned Kelly.
"[on playing The Joker in The Dark Knight] The Joker, so far, is definitely the most fun I've had with any character. He's just out of control -- no empathy, he's a sociopath, uh, a psychotic, mass-murdering clown. And, uh, I'm just thoroughly, thoroughly enjoying it. It's just exceeded any expectations I had of what the experience would be like."
"I only do this because I'm having fun. The day I stop having fun, I'll just walk away. I wasn't going to have fun doing a teen movie again.... I don't want to do this for the rest of my life....I don't want to spend the rest of my youth doing this in this industry. There's so much I want to discover." - Vanity Fair (August 2000)
I guess he has stopped having fun.
Gosh.
We need to have fun, people.
Right.
This coming from one manic depressive to another.
I've been searching for you
I heard a cry within my soul
I've never had a yearning quite like this before
Now that you are walking right through my door
All of my life
Where have you been?
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
And if that day comes
I know we could win
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
A sacred gift of heaven
For better, worse, wherever
And I would never let somebody break you down
Nor take your crown, never
All of my life
Where have you been?
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
And if that day comes
I know we could win
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
And everytime I've always known
That you were there, upon your throne
A lonely queen without her king
I longed for you, my love forever - Again, Lenny Kravitz
Tragic, indeed.
But forever young he'll be.

Love dont come easy
I dont do married men but well, now that he is separated from his wife, come to mama, Daniel Johns.

Bring tears to my eyes.
I met Nani just now and we caught a show at Cineleisure. And Sha, you're right. It is kind of depressing.

THE SAVAGES was marketed as a comedy but fortunately, it is not. It is so not funny. And I mean it in a good way. Some may think of this fare as slow, brutal and draggy but well, life is like that sometimes. Bitter, harsh life.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Wendy Savage: Maybe dad didn't abandon us. Maybe he just forgot who we were.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The Savages, as expected, will not charm the generally lame cinema-going crowd. It's too slow, too many words, too dull bla bla. But if you want honesty and the cold harsh truth to slap you in the face, then this one is definitely for you.
OKay I can barely keep my eyes open now. Tomorrow then.
A thousand times goodnight, hardcore procrastinators.
P/S: You slagged too much lately.

Wendy Savage: Maybe dad didn't abandon us. Maybe he just forgot who we were.

Time of My Life
Okay this is early but I've just checked the akan datang movies and ..arrrgghhh... The Assassination of Jesse James (Brad Pitt! Brad Pitt! Brad Pitt!) is coming out this week!!!!!!!!
Will definitely catch it this weekend.
Though broke, I think I can find ways to squeeze some moolah.
It's Brad Pitt, lah!
As stupid and twisted as it may sound, I need to "clear off" some other shows quick. So tonight, I'll catch The Savages and on Thursday, it will be Atonement . Next week, I'll try to catch The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.
I shall cancel or push forward Dan In Real Life, Love In The Time Of Cholera, Mr Average and Reservation Road. Too many and well, the timings of these films are already erratic.
The Kite Runner is coming out on the 31st January.
Ooh so busy!

Living on a prayer
Original words fail me this morning.
But ah...the language of love fails us never.
Words fall out of my mouth
And I can’t seem to trace what I’m saying
Everybody wants your time
I’m just dreaming out loud
I can’t have you for mine and I know it
I just wanna watch you shine
Tripping up on my tongue
It’s all over my face and I’m racing
Gotta get away from you
Burning all the way home
Try to put it to bed but it chases
Every little thing I do
When the light falls on your face
Don’t let it change you
When the stars get in your eyes
Don’t let them blind you
You’re beautiful
Just the way you are
And I love it all
Every line, and every scar
And I wish that I could make you see
This is where you ought to be
Come down to me
Spell it out in a song
Bet you never catch on to my weakness
I’m singing every word for you
Here I’m thinking I’m sly
Then you’re catching my eye, and just maybe
You’re thinking what I’m thinking too
When you see it on my face,
Don’t let it shake you
I know better than to try and
Take you with me
You’re beautiful
Just the way you are
And I love it all
Every line, and every scar
And I wish that I could make you see
This is where you ought to be
Come down to me - Come Down To Me, Saving Jane
Yes, yes. It is okay to fall in love.
It is okay to be out of love.
There's always more loving to go around.
A thousand times goodnight, pining lovers down by the meadow.
P/S: 0400hrs. Get sleep, Ed.
P/P/S: I feel so old...

Sweet like chocolate
*burp*
The students bought me 3 pieces of doughnuts (my birthday? awww) from The Donut Factory (*cough*bribery*cough*) Ate one during break and almost choked to death, no thanks to the fine powder sugar. Anyway, thanks ladies and yeah man, they are yummy.

Now I have a freaking toothache.
Showed Aladdin in Film class today and we did a bit of postmodernist film study. I am getting tired of that word, if I were to see that word again this word, I..I..I buy myself a new bag.
The father is at home now, back after 6 days in the hospital. That means, no more TV for me already for he will be hogging it. *grumble*grumble*
Shall go jalan-jalan.
