Let us all get along...

Nobody knows
Just why we're here
Could it be fate
Or random circumstance
At the right place
At the right time
Two roads intertwine

And if the universe conspired
To melt our lives
To make us
Fuel and fire
Then know
Where ever you will be
So too shall I be

Close your eyes
Dry your tears
'Cause when nothing seems clear
You'll be safe here
From the sheer weight
Of your doubts and fears
Weary heart
You'll be safe here

Remember how we laughed
Until we cried
At the most stupid things
Like we were so high
But love was all that we were on
We belong

And though the world would
Never understand
This unlikely union
And why it still stands
Someday we will be set free.
Pray and believe

When the light disappears
And when this world's insincere
You'll be safe here
When nobody hears you scream
I'll scream with you
You'll be safe here
(Rivermaya)

Must thank Fifi for taking the trouble to come to school just to pick up some documents from me to the embassy. Owe you one, sir. By the way, I wasnt wearing a baju budak-budak, okay!

Anyway Thursday is over (school hours at least) and phew, other than the bugging visa issue, I am glad that it is over. I have never liked Thursdays...not since stepping into this so-called new environment. Thursdays are hectic. Thursdays are crazy.

And the canteen served rotten egg omelettes today. It was TERRIBLE. No wonder the students say the Malay food here is crap with a capital 'K' -- malay, what!

I am absolutely tired. Fell asleep while doing some work last night and ended up on the cold floor till morning. Left home early but decided to go to the bank and run some other errand. In the end, decided it was a bit late to take the train and so hopped onto a cab.

Need a sex life.

P/S: THE EMBASSY JUST CALLED ME AND SAID THAT MY VISA HAD BEEN CLEARED!!! WOOHOO!!

P/P/S: Maybe the nasty letter I sent last night condemning the embassy had a part to play.

###

Why the sky is blue and some embassies are fucked up

Seriously, what is wrong?
I dont even want to do this in the first place.
Why am I punished for something which took place about 4 years ago?
What is fucking wrong with you people?
What is fucking wrong with me?

Yes, I am still having problems with my visa.
Don't ask.

Oh well.

I was called to the P's office at about noon. Like, uh oh what did I do this time, right? I walked into the office, all ready to be sacked. Maybe some students had complained about me or something. In fact deep down, I was excited at the thought of being sacked. Freedom, maybe. Haha.

Came in and P told me that I might have to take extra workload because one of the English teachers had tendered her resignation. P asked me when would I be staying till and I answered "at the end of this term" and she responded with an "Oh".

I have about 4 more weeks.
No. I wont be around for the next semester.
I need to move on beyond $65.

Taking other people's load when my own is practically untouched and neglected. What an irony.

A thousand times goodnight, deep-thinkers.

Ed needs editing

It is out.

Damn.
They didnt edit my work.

Have yet to review the next movie. Maybe I wrote so badly they didnt want me to write again. What a bloody bummer.

###

Singing my heart out...

Today went by like a breeze. That was a good thing by the way. But no…no news from the fothermucker Aussie Embassy. Will give them one more day. I cannot wait. I have a gazillion things to settle.

Had big plans after school. Wanted to visit the hospitalised auntie but I didn’t. I even bailed on Meiling on a free (!!) show. Was supposed to meet her at 1900hrs at CineLeisure cause she had a pair of free passes to watch Freedom Writers.

BUT NO… I HAD TO FALL ASLEEP.

I only woke up at 1915hrs when she called me to find out where I was.
Dumbfucked.
Gah.

Anyway Sunday had me up early. At about 1115hrs, Clara, Grace, Weiling and I were at KBOX Ang Mo Kio, breaking the morning malaise with our warblings. Liah joined us soon after even though she had a flight to catch that night. She was leaving for Melbourne/Sydney.

Such a commercialised country and yet they have a problem with a plebeian like me.
Koala pooh.

Left that place at about 1430hrs and headed to Banquet for more tummy sustenance. Liah had already left to continue to pack. Clara, Weiling and I then bundled ourselves into Grace’s car…to our next destination…Dempsey Road.

Weiling brought us to The Wine Company and the girls soon settled on a bottle of white wine from Germany. I took a sip and well put it this way..God doesn’t want me to drink and don’t worry, there’s no reason I will because I really really hate alcohol. How can people put that vile thing down their throats is beyond me. White wine…red wine..sour..bitter..smelly like hell…argh!!

More photos from the girls.

After another bottle (red this time), the girls decided they liked the place so much they would come again. Think they set the date to April 15th. So if you want to have fine wine with fine girls and want to talk crap with me over some lame juice or tea, come join me at Dempsey Road’s The Wine Company on April 15th.

The password will be: Hell yeah, you’re fine!

By the way, the price for a bottle of wine is about $35.
According to the girls, it was cheap.

Weiling and Clara soon disappeared later that night, while I ended up at Grace’s place with Sha joining us. Had packed dinner, watched a bit of Grey’s Anatomy and then Ugly Betty. Rather, it was just Sha and I watching cause Grace was almost unconscious on the bed…no thanks to alcohol, I guess.

Yeah she was driving earlier on.
No…we werent caught.
Not sure if she was fit to drive even.
Ooh…the young ones.

Oh well.

Tomorrow…I have to bring some cadets to HTA for their NPCC Day Parade training. Oh man…the OC asked if I could do him that favour cause none of the teacher officers would be free to do it. Could I have said no? I couldn’t tell him that I was not free because I was supposed to have fancy drill training tomorrow anyway. Shit…now I have to spend my Wednesday afternoon sitting and watching cadets getting screwed by field instructors from HTA. Must bring binoculars so that I can while the time away checking men in blue.

I love blue.
More than that, I love men.
But most of all… I love myself.
Hmm..okay.

Mentioning love, the past few days had me wishing for someone by my side. Bit silly I know. But I have been having some trying moments lately and someone comforting will be nice. I don’t know. I’ve never been attached. Don’t know what it is like.

Heh.

A thousand times goodnight, well-wishers.

P/S: The close auntie has been hospitalised since Thursday. Visited her last night and ah..a bit of a sorry sight. May God speed her recovery.

P/P/S: I am not turning alcoholic. I just want to taste for myself and make my own decision. And after tasting it, think I will stand by God’s decree. Vile..vile.

The passing weekend

What did I do on Thursday?

Oh…went to Aussie Embassy and found that it was closed after 12noon. Went Borders to cheer meself up with 2 cheap books – Yeats and Frost. Then Grace came to town because she wanted to get her Stefanie Sun album. Oh..had a hearty dinner.

Nothing beats comfort fat…except for fats.

Friday I left school at 1140hrs right after my last lesson. Would have reached Aussie Embassy in time if the cabby didn’t make a wrong turn and headed to American Embassy instead. Seriously…what the fuck. I felt so exasperated and the security guard could see the frustration welling in my eyes. He then softened up and said he would grab a form for me from upstairs. So I waited for him 15 minutes.

Then on my way out of the embassy, somehow I got damn fed up with everything, I actually threw the form into the bin. It was an ultra rash decision but hey…I was extremely exasperated.

I walked all the way to Orchard in the hot sun. Bought meself a pair of shoes, a dress and a pair of Gisele Bundchen’s Y Ikatu Xingu Grendene sandals. Sayonara Havaianas.

I know..i know..They all look a bit Minah-ish.
But then..Havaianas are gay-ish too.
Both brands are made in Brazil.
Ah, what a liberated Malay girl got to do?

Went home after 4 hours of retail therapy. A quick nap followed and then it was ktv time with Sha, Ismail and Grace at Apollo’s. Salina came and joined us and we had one super side splitting moment though I couldn’t remember to what song did the embarrassment take place.

The session ended around 2330hrs and we all headed in 2 cars to Spize at River Valley Road for supper after that. Mail left and the four of us hopped over to Braddell to visit Lauren who was tending to her late grandma’s wake. Went home about about 0230hrs and 2 hours later I was dead to the world at home.

NPCC was boring last Saturday and oh..it was super duper hot. Dragged meself to religious lecture in the afternoon but I guess that was really worth it. Met Sharinah’s boyfriend after that. He and his brother came to join us after class for a quick dinner. Felt a bit awkward but oh well, I’d get by. Anyway they sent me to Pak Budi’s house at Coasta Rhu.

Adrian, Waikuan, Marinah, Des, Esther and Wan were already there. So were Terence and wife. Shuxiang joined us soon after that. We didn’t do much barbeque because Pak Budi’s friends were the ones who did the superb job. We just ate.

Nice

Des and Adrian wanted to hang out so we three headed off to Esplanade for drink. Had my peppermint tea…putting me into instant stoned mood. Walked to Orchard around 0200hrs and then home.

Sunday was nice and tiring at the same time.
Tomorrow.

Things going down

Was hanging out with some teachers during break just now. Shared with them my “China MacBeth” story and they too found it amusing, I think. Anyway we came to talk about Romeo and Juliet and this teacher (I don’t know her name for the love of me!) told me not to show the movie starring Leo DiCaprio because it’s crap.

Ed: I have already shown it.
T1: Oh no! That show is terrible!
Ed: Why is it terrible?
T1: It uses guns instead of swords and they label the guns as swords and..and..
Ed: But that’s why it is good! It is creative, modern and different. Kids love it.
T1: Yeah creative but it doesn’t do the story any good. The old one is better. Think it is very old..from the 50s or 60s.
Ed: But the students will fall asleep. [Ed thought she too would fall asleep]
T1: But it very good!
Ed: I think you and I … generation gap.

And I have this feeling that she is younger than me.
Haha.
How dare she insult my favourite movie!

Earlier, I was with another relief at the canteen buying food. She was saying how some teachers were wearing “provocative” clothes to school.

T2: You know…some of the teachers wear colourful bras to school, leh!
Ed: Err..okay. How do you know?
T2: They wear tight white shirts and then can see their bra!
Ed: What is wrong with that?
T2: Can see, lah!!
Ed: Yeah I know you can see…but what is wrong with that?
T2: Cannot lor!! The students will see the bra, what!
Ed: (getting annoyed with the mindless conversation) But so what? It is not like their breasts are visible.
T2: Cannot lah! The students sure say what one…
Ed: But I don’t see nothing wrong with that. I mean..cant the adults have more leeway?
T2: I am not as liberal as you, lor…
Ed: [Ed thought..what the hell…]

Am I being blasé about it? To me, it is just a bra. And well, we are adults, surely we don’t want to be treated like students, right? What is a little coloured bra, a little dyed hair, a little nail polish? We are not even talking about multiple piercings and tattoos.

It is quite weird to be talking about it because I have always been around an “open” environment. I almost choked on my tuna sandwich when she said that she was not as liberal as I was. Can you believe this came from an 18-year-old?

Am I so different?
Or is everybody else the same?
Or am I more interested in the general picture and not into details?

Or simply maybe…I have better things to do and to think of.
“What shoes to wear tomorrow? Shoes that stay clear from my 5 blisters?”
“What to teach?”
“How to punish them?”

I am sorry.
This entry is going to be mostly on work.

The relief teachers were called to stay back after school for a briefing. We were told that most of us would soon be required to conduct remedial lessons beyond the 5.5 hours of work. Oh and that, we wont get paid. We were also told that the P said we relief teachers are distancing ourselves from the students and from the teachers. She said some of us were even too aloof. We were also told that the P was concerned about us not greeting her. We were told that if P didn’t hear or acknowledge our salutations, we should bow even lower say it again or say it louder.

Yes, Ma’am ..No, Ma’am
Yes Sir yes Sir
Three bags full … of crap.

This is totally getting shitty. It is not that I hate what I am doing. In fact, I have never been so hardworking even though this is the most underpaid job I have encountered in my life. It is just that…I feel abused. Already we have to work 6.5 standard hours everyday and if we want to mark stuff or do some housekeeping, we will easily clock in about 8 hours a day. Now they also want us to submit medical certificates if we decide to be absent. We also need to attend the general meeting. All these unpaid, of course.

Money-minded, you say?

Time is money, you know. With them taking up my afternoon, they are robbing me of my rest and also my other jobs. I can write and edit in the afternoon but no…they want me to stay until the cows come home. By then, I don’t even want to have dinner.

Why is it like that? It is defeating the purpose of me doing relief teaching in the first place! I no longer have the afternoons cause whenever I come home, it’s almost dark. I go home..dinner..a bit of tv..blog reading..emails…and then I prepare worksheet and “classroom strategies”. By then, it is almost *gasp* 0200hrs already and I wake up at 0600hrs. And if there are freelance writings to do, I don’t sleep.

Ah screw the academic industry tonight.
I need to do some stuff.

A thousand times goodnight, screw-ups and fuck-ups.

P/S: Fairuz just called me and I spent more than an hour whining and bitching to him. Urgh, it helps to have someone understand.

P/P/S: Seriously, my visa cant be more screwed up.

You Don't Have To Tell You Love Me...

God! Tonight’s American Idol is the bomb. Am not a fan of Lakisha and so her lacklustre show doesn’t faze me. But Blake oh Blake oh Blake…you made me want to fall in love so badly.

And then Jordin, with I Who Have Nothing… she made me damn depressed.

I, I who have nothing
I, I who have no one
Adore you and want you so
I'm just a no one, with nothing to give you but oh
I love you

You, you buy her diamonds
Bright, sparkling diamonds
But believe me, dear, when I say
That she can give you the world
But she'll never love you the way
I love you

You can take her any place she wants
To fancy clubs and restaurants
But I can only watch you with
My nose pressed up against the window pane

I, I who have nothing
I, I who have no one
Must watch you, go dancing by
Wrapped in the arms of somebody else
Darling it is I
Who loves you
- I (Who Have Nothing), Shirley Bassey

Urgh.
My heart bleeds.

Today was not really a good day. I even passed up the chance to catch free screening of Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles even. I had a testy time with one of the Sec 1 classes today and urgh, almost had a meltdown there and then. It was a really shitty hour and I really couldn’t wait for it to end. When the bell finally rang, I made a beeline to the toilet and bawled my eyes out.

Another teacher came into the toilet and I, who was in one of the cubicles, had to stifle the sobs. It was such a terrible feeling. I almost chewed on the toilet roll just to prevent from wailing.

Sigh.
Just an hour earlier, I had a good time with another class.
Yes they were noisier but the dynamics were different.

I know I know. You must be saying that I shouldn’t take it personal. But you cant help feeling frustrated, right? I had to control saying mean things to them and I have a habit of breaking into tears when I am God damn frustrated so you can imagine that. I bet my nose was flaring like a bull and eyes were getting misty with anger and frustration. If I had had a …I would have… Urgh!

Anyway, I stayed in the loo for about 10 minutes. After that, I walked slowly (my feet were aching and were covered with yesterday’s blisters…added frustration!) to the hall. I sat down on the piano bench and began to bang the ivory keys away. Soon I was preoccupied with which keys to press that I eventually cooled off my anger.

I would have sung a song but my voice refused to speak.
After a day of shouting, it just didn’t want to function.

I am seriously giving everything a re-consideration. Just into my 6 months of teaching and I have already been defeated. The ego takes a beating definitely but recalling how helpless I felt in class just now, I do have that niggling feeling that maybe…this is not what He has planned for me.

I don’t know.

I had fancy drill training after school and I told my NCOs to take over the training because I was really in a bad mood and didn’t want to aggravate my angry throat. I went to the upper floor to check the scene from an aerial angle and was bored to death. So hah, I went down again and took over the training…where the screaming got to be slightly therapeutic.

Played basketball with my NCOs and some of the cadets after the training. Was telling them how I frustrated I felt and they dragged me to sweat it out and forget. Seriously, what will I do without these group of people in school? They make up members of my personal support group in this school. And I really really love them.

What a coincidence that these people are not my direct class students. Maybe then my perception will be different.

Anyway it has been an emotional day consisting mainly of anger. The agent called me up and said that (surprise surprise) I had some problems with my visa. I knew it, Aussie Embassy has something against me. I have to go down tomorrow and re-apply for a visa, then go back and have a medical check-up and then submit the results to the Embassy again.

Australian Embassy.
WHAT IS THIS?

Why am I made to feel like a criminal when all that I have done was to study in your country 5 (!!$%) years ago? What did I do to get such treatment and to waste such an unnecessary amount of money? Is it because I took part in the Anti-Gulf War protests? It is, isnt it?

Come fucking tell me.

I am beginning to hate this piece of pseudo-continent. If not for the father and some unfinished businesses, I don’t think I ever want to go.

Need to sleep.

A thousand times goodnight, sad clown.

Sing with me now, sing for today...

Recently, I made my English class write an essay entitled ‘My Hero’. Today, as I was marking them, I stumbled upon a submission written by my Cambodian student. He wrote that he regarded soldiers as his heroes.

Suddenly, visions of Khmer Rouge and Saloth Sar aka Pol Pot come to mind.

I picture my student as a soldier. No…not the SAF kind of soldier. Rather, it is the MILF (that’s Moro Islamic Liberation Front, you sickos!) kind of soldiers.

Lord have mercy :(

Honestly what will become of me
Don't like reality
It's way too clear to me
But really life is daily
We are what we don't see
Missed everything daydreaming

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
Come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to end?
Come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?

Traveling I only stop at exits
Wondering if I'll stay
Young and restless
Living this way I stress less
I want to pull away when the dream dies
The pain sets in and I don't cry
I only feel gravity and I wonder why

Well the dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon so that they could
Dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon so that they could
Die die die die die
- All Good Things, Nelly Furtado

Was chatting with my students and warning them about the impending mid-year papers at the same time just now in class. Then it hit me. My days with them are numbered too.

Why numbered?
Cause whatever is the outcome, I wont be around (school hours at least. I still have to attend NPCC training) teaching them anymore.

It is a pity really because this particular class is a bit dear to me. I take pains remembering their names and knowing which province they come from. Well…more than half of the students are from China, 1 from Cambodia, 1 from Philippines and 1 from India. There are the locals in there of course. And besides, a new student came in yesterday. Guess where is he from? We are just about to get to know each other better.

But yeah, all things must come to an end and perished. Guess I will miss the one period we have every Tuesday. The kids will saunter back to class after their Home Economics lesson and in their hands are their latest food creation. We will then have an “open table session” in class and study at the same time. Food on the table and I go around tasting. It was macaroni and cheese today.

Not bad really. I am so gonna miss the food.

What?
You think that I will miss the students?
Are you nuts?

Hah…who am I kidding? I will miss those morons.
Especially those in my 2 English classes.
Adorable morons that they are…
God..did I say “adorable”?

Lord have mercy :(

Bah! I seem to always write about school and students.
This blog is fast becoming a relief teacher’s toilet bowl.

But
But
But

I know you like it.
You want to read it.
You want to kiss it
You never miss it.

Okay, enough. Time to prepare some stuff for tomorrow’s lessons. There’s the Speech Day fancy drill training tomorrow. The training itself deserves an entry on its own. Next time.

Wow. It is raining. Bliss.

A thousand times goodnight, suckers.

P/S: The plan is settled and I have the burden to be in charge. I don’t like to take lead all the time you know.

P/P/S: Guys, our dragon friend (remember her?) is pregnant again with 2nd child!

Not elite or uncaring...but get out of my face still

No. I didnt feel sleepy on the first day of work. In fact, my first (yes, first!) yawn of the day just came minutes ago at 0030hrs. Guess the week-long holiday did do me good.

Woke up bright dark and early. I even stepped out 5 minutes earlier than usual. It was pouring so the walk to the bus stop at Yishun wasnt that hot and unbearable. I rather have it wet, you know (heh).

Everything went on oh-so-well...

...until the feeder bus came all sardinified.

I was only at the second stop for fuck sake and yet the bus was full? I peered to the back and there they were... morons hogging the aisle and not moving to the rear. And those morons eventually made me late because the next bus didnt come like until 15 minutes later.

Anyway...

A few boys in one of my Sec 1 Literature classes were playing this stupid game where they make a circle/ring using their thumb and index finger. They will then get people to look into that ring using lures such as "Hey, what do you call this?" and then they try to force their fingers into your view. If you look into the circle/ring/hole, you get a smack on your shoulder. I told you it's stupid.

One of the boys tried to lure me. I looked him straight in the eyes and told him to shut up. He still persisted. Pissed me off all the more.

Student: Come on, Cher! What do you call these two rings?
Ed: Your asshole.

Then I walked away.
Few metres down the walkway, another nincompoop tried again.

Poop: Cher, can you guess what is this? (made a ring using thumb and index finger)
Ed: Don't know, don't care.
Poop: Look, cher! I am sure you can guess...

I decided to look down into the ring and wanted to push the fingers out of my sight. Before I manage to do that, the boy landed a smack on my shoulders. Oooh he woke up the bitch. He should have let sleeping dog lie.

Ed: Oi, what was that for?
Poop: You will get a punch if you look into the ring lah!
Ed: [grabbing Nincompoop by his shirt and stunning his friends around him] Eh, you think I am your friend, is it?
Poop: Eh..eh..no lah Cher!
Ed: Listen, huh. I am not your bloody friend. I say again..I am not your friend. You dont punch me. You dont even touch me. Understand?
Poop: Orh..orh orh...understand understand.
Ed: I am not your friend.
Poop: Sss..Sorry...sorry.

Nothing like a miseducation once in a while. I hate to be touched, let alone be punched by imbeciles. Thank God I tamed the initial reaction of punching Nincompoop back.

That's it for tonight.
We shall see what tomorrow has in store.
A thousand times goodnight mafia and yakuza and ah long. Bestow your prowess on me, the lowly relief teacher.

P/S: Meiling said my temper and profanities are under control lately. I forgot to tell her that I dont dance unless I hear music and i dont scratch unless it itches.

It's too darn hot

Met Clara and Weiling on Friday evening after finishing the movie review. Followed them shop and after a long, long, long dinner, Clara and I bade Weiling farewell and we both made our way to St James Power House (or is it Power Station? Entah!)

The place is huge and the queues are snaking. I am not interested in all those rooms, save for one. Thank God Clara agreed and we both headed to the Bellini room - live jazz music. Pity that the place is more Bubble rather than Sinatra or Fitzgerald. But hah…this is Singapore. Duh.

We only got seats beside the band. Accoustics werent so good there.
Never mind. Next time.

I told Clara that the jazz musicians looked very tired and listless.
Most probably it is because they play at funerals during the day…and Bellini Room at night.
Heh.

More people would have been more fun.
But the two of us had a nice, tame time by ourselves.

When the band finished its final set at about 0230hrs, we skipped home..but not before checking out other rooms like the manic DragonFly (wahlao that beng place is damn happening) and the one that whips Latin/Cuban music. The latter is sizzling hot. Aye carumba!

Saturday had me seated pensively in religious class. Hahaha. Less than 24 hours ago, I was in a hell-fire on Earth. But I believe in balance and besides the class was only a lecture/talk by a charismatic religious man (Zakaria Bagharib). It was in English and there wasn’t any pressure or anything. So yeah… Anyway, we touched on achieving worldly gains and higher education in regards to Islam. I like.

Meiling made me (haha!) watch Stomp The Yard with her yesterday evening at Bishan. So after class, I half-heartedly stomped to Bishan while Sharinah made her way to work.

The movie?
Unoriginal.
At all.

Maybe I have watched too many dance or ghetto-in-da-hood kind of shows like Honey, 8 Mile, You’ve Got Served, Step Up, Take The Lead and Drumline. This show is just a mixture of all of them. ALL OF THEM.

STOMP THE YARD takes place in a slightly atas black university. Why atas? Because we see fraternities and sororities taking pride in their academic achievements. We are introduced to the Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Pis, Thetas and the whole lot of A Maths algebraic terms. But no…this movie totally disregards anything academic and instead focus on this thing called “stepping.”

Stepping
a bit of line dancing + a bit of Maori Haka dance + a Chris Rock skit show + street dance

+

+ +

The plot is boring. A group provokes another. Someone dies…someone else gets the blame. Someone tries to start a new living and gets pulled back into old ways along the way. Someone sees a girl. Someone faces obstacles…bla bla bla. In the end, there will be a dance competition and the main lead wins.

Predictable, no?

The only person who provides a charming sight for sore eyes is Chris Brown. Even then he gets shot during the first 15 minutes of the show. What the hell….And besides, the dancing is not very good. I have seen better on The Wade Robson Project.

Watch STOMP THE YARD only if you have money to burn or you just want to wriggle in your seat with frustration. I must have irritated Meiling with my constant “Come on, man!” and “It’s so predictable!” When Meiling told me how much she loved the show, I just stared at her blankly.

Then I went “What show?”

Hah.

Anyway…all was not lost. Man U won the match against Bolton and I managed to catch Giselle on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on StarWorld.

Oh bring your sexy back!

Meiling: The world must have people like us so that they know what “being slim” is.
Ed: It is not fair…boo hoo…

And now…Sunday is soon coming to dusk.

Work beckons.

P/S: The father wants a holiday again next month. And surprise..surprise..he wants to go Australia again. This time round, it’s either Brisbane or Melbourne. And now…I am again pulling my hair out in planning the trip.

P/P/S: I can predict another visa problem coming up.

Exactly last year, I was in Timor...

The past few days saw me pulling my hair out doing write-ups after write-ups. Okay..actually there are only 3. But it had been difficult because I was in a holiday mood. And now…the break is almost over.

Noooooooooooooooooooooo!

Yeah...Snow White has a Snow White wallpaper.
Haha how lame.

Snow White is sick. I have used my antivirus, spybot and adware…but it is still lagging. Using MSN messenger will make it even worse. She will then stall! What is this? Such travesty!

“Tiuniama Kah Chowhai ar”

Hahahahaha. I just stumbled upon this phrase and have totally no idea what it means. Maybe it has the same meaning as tiu lei lou mou hai. Kwa kwa. Whatever it is, it sounds funny.

Anyway, Beyonce and Shakira have collaborated and they come out with a mediocre song (so disappointed in you, ladies!) called Beautiful Liar but with a sizzling MTV. When it comes to dancing, I prefer Shakira’s shimmy so yeah…in this, I am all for Shakira.

On Thursday, ohgenki.com gave me some passes to catch NADA SOU SOU. After a quick dinner at Botak Jones near my place (I just discovered that few months back!), Grace and I quickly zipped down to Plaza Singapura.

Yeah Jay and Jo, Botak Jones was opened that day.
Indeed the portions were humongous.
And yes...they are closed every Monday.

The lead actor Satoshi Tsumabuki (“Yota”) is the one who plays Suzuki in Waterboys. He looks better there. In Nada Sou Sou, he looks like a “mat” and haha, he behaves like one too. The actress (“Kaoru”) reminds me of BlinkyMummy. The long straight hair…the bangs…the megawatt smile (okay I sound obsessed over BM. Tsk tsk!).

Nada Sou Sou is based on a popular Japanese ballad of the same name and well, it aims to be a tear-jerker but somehow it falls short because to me, it wants to be cute at the same time! How can you be sad/tragic and cute-sy at the same time?

Kaoru’s incessant whining and constant high pitched shrieks (“Nee Nee!”…ad nauseam) calling her step-brother nearly drive me mad. I wish everyone will be wiped away by a tsunami or something since the movie is set on Okinawa.

The movie borders disturbingly on incest. Well it is not really incest because technically Yota and Kaoru have no blood relations but still, it feels almost sick. However, all is not lost. Yota is likeable and the cinematography is beautiful. Though the plot is VERY predictable (someone dies in the end..BAH!), it is still digestible because hmm.. hmm..because we are Asians and we should support Asian movies.

Oh well. It does have good music accompaniments.
And have I said…beautiful cinematography?

My msn is driving me insane.

P/S: It is really getting hot in here.

P/P/S: Carrie Underwood’s Don’t Forget To Remember Me makes me bawl….boo hoo.

P/P/S/S: Exactly this time last year, I threw caution to the wind…left my job and ran to West Timor. I really miss that place.
