I shall continue from
here.
Friday 6 July 2007Suppose to go see the
Big Buddha on some hill/mountain at Lantau Island but we all got up late. So went to get lunch (at some noods place..Crystal Jade? Jade Garden?) and then to
Wong Tai Sin, to the temple. Lauren and Grace went to pray. I didn’t...duh.
Anyway after getting their ‘lots’, we went in search of a fortune teller in the surrounding area. Lauren took us to this old woman whom she had gone to earlier to have her fortune read. The old woman said she would be meeting a certain “Mr Wong” if I am not wrong.
Remember Lauren.
It’s Mr Wong...not Mr W(r)ong.

After the temple visit, we headed to
Tung Choi Street in Mong Kok. This place is famous for cheap buys. Went to Argyle Centre where I bought a pair of red wedges. Got a bag, hairbands and some earrings too. The place was crazy packed. After getting out of there, we headed to the Ladies’ Market. Nah...didnt fancy anything.
Oh, maybe magnets.
We walked around. We were quite tired by then. Grace then brought us to Tsim Sha Tsui, to the Avenue of Stars which overlooked the city. The place was like Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

We then headed to this cosy little Italian restaurant (Grappas’s) where Grace played *ahem* host and treated us to dinner. Elizabeth, Grace’s old friend, joined us. She’s cool and funny and well...no awkward moment there. Thank God.
Liz and Grace took us to
Lan Kwai Fong. It was a hilly clubbing area...not for the faint-hearted.
The climb, not the clubs. Anyway LKF was happening. Next time, I’ll club. Hopefully I wont be too old by then.

And since no one wanted to club and there was no place to hang out cause everywhere was packed, we headed to Causeway Bay and had...mango desserts again.

Forget Grace and Liz.
Check out the sexy mango below.
It was way past midnight and it was drizzling.
So we headed back to Grace’s place and called it a day.
Saturday 7 July 2007Today we all woke up early. Lauren and I joined the Lau ladies – Stephanie, Grace, Joan (her mom) – for breakfast. Her mother brought us to this
dim sum place and they were nice to get non-porky stuff for me. I love
dim sum and yet, it was my first time eating at a real
dim sum place. Coolness.

Those who were there.
After the breakfast/lunch, Lauren and I broke away from the Lau ladies and shopped on our own. We figured that we should give Grace the privacy to be with her family,
lah. We were not THAT mean as to have her all to ourselves. Sheesh.
Anyway we shopped until we dropped. I got 2 black dresses to add up to my ever-growing
noir wardrobe collection. Lauren was on a roll too. She went Marc Jacobs-crazy and bought a handbag and a wallet. And of course other things.
Oh we also went to this gigantic shopping mall (Pacific Plaza?). It has an open ice skating rink out of nowhere!

Hah, this was the place where we had those mango desserts.
Hui Lau Shan @ Causeway Bay.
As you can see, Lauren and I didn’t take many photos cause there aint time to take snaps when your fingers were busy browsing anything browsable. I am quite sure we went somewhere to rest/drink but I cant really remember cause there’s no picture evidence. Hmmm...
Grace re-joined us at Causeway Bay in the evening, after her dinner with the family. As Lauren and I hadn’t had dinner, she took us to this Macau restaurant . She left us soon however, cause she was off to meet some old friends. No biggie. After dinner, Lauren and I dragged our sorry feet and continued shopping.
Soon midnight almost crept in.
Shops, like it or not, were all closed.
So we two retreated to Starbucks.
Ah, coffee.

Nothing like familiar coffee to wrap up your day...and our last night in Hong Kong.
Sunday 8 July 2007Woke up early we did for it was the last day. We all bundled into Grace’s car and her father brought us to this yummy fish ball noodle place for breakfast/lunch. The fish ball...out of this world.

After the meal, we went to the bohemian/retro sea-side spot -Stanley Market Chek Chue..cool place. The downside? The mid day heat was beginning to give all of us a headache. ‘Scorching’ was not even fit to describe the day.

There was this stretch of eateries at
Stanley Chek Chue along the sea front and they kind of reminded me of an underdeveloped boat quay.
But less sleazier and more family-oriented. The gelato cafes were tempting us to come in to cool ourselves.
We were melting!
We almost fried our brains!

Meaningless shots showing that Grace and I were losing it.
Couldnt take it.
Retreated to the nearest McDonalds for ice cold drinks.
Bundled into the car again and this time, we headed to
Repulse Bay. That name still doesn’t fail to crack me up. Haha.
There are some Buddhist stuff there. Many tourists from China were there. All of them were seen jostling to take photos with the statues. Me? I just stand in the sun and roast myself.

There was this little statue which was especially popular. If I’m not wrong, the statue was said to bring good fertility to those who touched it.
Or something like that. So our 2 friends decided to join the fray. Had to take a few 'NG' shots before I could finally take a proper shot of them molesting the statue.

More stupid shots of us at Repulse Bay...and of Lauren trying to jump.
Whatever.
Just check out the view in the background, okay?

Naturally, we got all sweaty attempting all the jumps. We stank up the car and together with the heat, it was getting unbearable. Hahahaha. Think Grace and I were beginning to get heatstroke.
Anyway our ‘Tour of Duty’ wasn’t finished. Grace’s father drove us to
Ocean Park next. We didn’t go in...but they figured since I hadn’t seen it, they would be kind enough to drive me there.

Except taxis and private cars dorp off.
Dorp off.
Get it? Get it?
Anyway Ocean Park was extremely crowded that day. I bet there must have been some heatstroke/dehydration cases. Oh well. The place looked fantastic. Next time, I’ll definitely go in.

Us at the back seat.
Our tour was finished. But there was still time left before we headed back. So Grace’s parents dropped Grace, Steph, Lauren and I at the ferry station so that we could sit on the ferry for a little bit of sght-seeing. Okay it was for me...cause I wanted to take the Star Ferry at Star Ferry Pier Central. Bah.
Took the ferry to the other side (Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier) and back.
Hahaha.
Like that also happy.

From the ferry terminal, we took a bus back to Grace’s place. The ride home was sheer torture! The aircon was barely working and the whole bus was stuffy. Everyone was suffering. I couldn’t take it anymore. Forced meself to sleep otherwise, I’d get delirious. Horrible.
Reached home, took a quick shower, did last minute packing and hung out at Steph’s room. Here are some pictures of Grace’s pad.

The room/beds where we slept.

The bathroom and Grace/Steph’s room.
Then it was time to go. But before going to the airport, Grace’s parents brought us to this obscure place where we had to walk under a bridge and pass a big
longkang. We were going to have dinner at this really far-flung restaurant (Yung Kee restaurant?) which served really yummy goose meat.
Grace’s father: The longkang here makes the goose meat nicer. The smellier the longkang, the better.
Strangely, it was true. Eerk!

We then made our way to the airport. Bade everyone goodbye and thanked Grace’s family for having us over.

Plane took off around 2015hrs and it was a rough flight – stuffy and just plain bad. All of us couldn’t sleep and were just eager to land.
So that’s it.
Will I go to Hong Kong again?
Of course!
..
..
..
With a truckload of cash this time round.
P/S: Thank you Grace! P/P/S: Oh..dont you worry. I will.
