A vague jade

Yeah, the company had asked for my invoice and that means, am getting money in time for Hari Raya. It's not much and they only took 1000+ of my words. So that means only $300+...but it's better than nothing. That can pay for my Hari Raya clothes, shoes, hair and ..urgh..ang pow money.

God is good to me...even though, it's clear that at times, I dont deserve it ;)

Had a vague plan for today but somehow it didnt materialise. Duh, vague mah! But anyhow, am planning to hit Kg Glam later with the da-jies and maybe, if I am still feeling adventurous, will head down to Geylang Serai or Little India or Chinatown.

Must start to soak in the festive atmo. I am too jaded for my own good already.

Yup too jaded. It seems like nothing fazes me anymore. Everything is too mild. Everything is too lame. How can it be like that? I used to be such a junkie - getting rushes out of nothing. See, I am jaded already. Too jaded. Which is not good because you cant appreciate life if you are jaded. You cant see beauty if you are jaded. You cant be humane if you are too jaded.

I want to be un-jaded.

I shall go buy a piece of jade bangle. Eh?
Or anyone wants to give me something..jade-y?

Hmm..

Later.

###

Our life is a fucking beauty contest

He caught me staring. I got quite flustered that I almost photocopied my face.

Passing stranger! You do not know
How longingly I look upon you,
You must be he I was seeking,
Or she I was seeking
(It comes to me as a dream)

I have somewhere surely
Lived a life of joy with you,
All is recall'd as we flit by each other,
Fluid, affectionate, chaste, matured,

You grew up with me,
Were a boy with me or a girl with me,
I ate with you and slept with you, your body has become
not yours only nor left my body mine only,

You give me the pleasure of your eyes,
face, flesh as we pass,
You take of my beard, breast, hands,
in return,

I am not to speak to you, I am to think of you
when I sit alone or wake at night, alone
I am to wait, I do not doubt I am to meet you again
I am to see to it that I do not lose you.
(To a Stranger, Walt Whitman)

Sheesh.

Went over to Sharinah’s new place and well, kind of excited for her. We were standing in the hallway discussing where she could put her chairs and furniture and stuff. Kind of cool. It will be cooler if it’s mine..

Reached home and manage to squeeze in a 30-min power nap before Nani came and picked me up. We went to Plaza Singapura where I bought a flaming red cardigan. Went around and I took her to Wang Jiao ‘kaya’ place to break fast/dinner.

Beautiful.

Then we went off to catch LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE!

This has got to be one of the best movies I have ever seen this year. At one point (a hilarious scene..totally out of this world!!), I was laughing so hard, I almost choked and died. Nani laughed louder though. Had to shush her up. Hahaha.

Little Miss Sunshine doesn’t disappoint. Just like Everybody Loves Raymond, it takes a premise of a totally dysfunctional family. The family is tearing at the seams and this road trip seems like a salvation begging to be noticed. The lead character is amazing as a seemingly innocent 7-year-old. You HAVE to check out her talent.

The movie grapples with many societal issues. But, it doesn’t burden the viewers. Instead of feeling pity, somewhat you are overcame with feelings of familiarity and empathy. Little Miss Sunshine is a gem. Watch it. It will really make your day.

I am so happy to catch such a great movie.
Yeah!

After movie, Nani left to meet her boyfriend and I was left to my own device. Feeling happy after the movie, I gambolled down Orchard Road, with ice caramel macchiato in hand, and checked out the late night shopping down at Wisma Atria. Almost went crazy at TopShop but .. but..i had to curb the enthusiasm. Had a hard time parting with some pieces of clothes. Didn’t buy anything in the end. Which was good.

Ended up at Borders and well, it continued to be a good day because ..

I FOUND SYLVIA PLATH’S THE BELL JAR!!!

Was holding a stack of books…but had to put most of them back.

Anyway...

I love poetry.

Think I will start my literary collection soon. Will try to buy at least one poetry book in a month or two. I will start collecting my Blakes, Yeats, Keats, Nerudas, Gibrans, Hughes, Brownings, Frosts, Tagores, Angelous, Tennysons, Wildes, Kiplings, St Millays, Elliotts….and the list is endless. I just love poetry!

Awrite enough. It’s almost 5. Time for shut-eye.

A thousand times goodnight. And a thousand times more wishing to see thine eyes.

Clap your hands...show me what you've got

Want to know something? I have been taking cabs to school the whole week. Late, that's why. I am promising meself that next week, I will try to leave the house earlier. Am still adjusting to the body clock and the fasting time. Still adjusting.

Yesterday the father asked if I wanted to go KL mid October before Hari Raya. Eh, why not? Can go shop! So yeah...am waiting for his further news and action. A little gateaway. Although the parents are going, there is a bright shiny spark to it. Chances are, they are going to pay.

Heh!

Awrite.

Fell asleep while almost finishing Trainspotting just now. I love that show, think I shall continue watching it later. But right now, now that I am done for the day..just waiting for 1245hrs to come so that I can conduct a little test, I shall pop in my Romeo and Juliet DVD. My excuse? To refresh my mind so that I can answer the students' questions on Romeo and Juliet when they start their revision soon. I shall have to put the book and the DVD cover not-so-conspicuously on my table so that other teachers can see.

Later.

P/S: Am going to Sharinah's new place after school to check out her new house...and erm, the bangla chinamen macho contractors/builders.

Thursday, September 28, 2006

Lo, it's Friday once again

I have FINALLY come out with the model Literature exam papers. 1.5 weeks late, I tell you. Anyway, I am glad they are done. Maybe I should go and reward meself with a movie later. Think I can go watch Little Miss Sunshine or The Night Listener.

Don’t you just love movies?

Or is it just me?

O well.

Was desperately looking for a diskette just now when I chanced upon a stack. One of them consists of my old poems – a collection of personal favourites and my own original ones, compiled and written when I was in my angry teens. Woah, I sure did have a lot of issues back then. However, most of them were societal/political issues. Think I was much smarter back then. Work and adulthood make me stupid.

Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths
Enwrought with golden and silver light
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths of night
And light and the half-light
I would spread the cloths under your feet
But I, being poor, have only dreams
I have spread my dreams under your feet
Tread softly
Because you tread on my dreams
(He wishes for the cloths of Heaven,Yeats)

I just love Yeats.

Awrite, that’s it.

A thousand times goodnight, poetic beings who are just being humans.

Red hot madness

It's almost 1300hrs and I have just finished marking test papers. Been doing that for the past 3 hours and am pissed. Pissed at what, I have no idea. Just pissed.

Also, I am beginning to see and hear more politics here in the teachers' room. This sucks. It's unavoidable and inevitable I know, but it still sucks nevertheless.

I am just amazed at how bitchy some of these people can be. And dont say "You are also bitchy, what!" to me. At least I wont backstab or spread rumours around. I cant be bothered.

And oh, I have this niggling feeling that I am stepping on some people's toes. I dont know whose but i think I am stepping damn hard on their digits.

Maybe I lack dedication in my life.
I shall not go beyond what is required of me.
Since I am just a relief being in their eyes, then I should just act like one.

Fuck your credibility.

###

I sit down and ponder

Just the day, I was arguing with one of the students. We were debating about death. He mentioned that it was no good dying young. I had to differ. “You cannot repent in time,” he said. “But if it’s time to go, you have to go,” I said. “Die young…a lot of sins…never repent..how to go heaven, cher?” he continued. “Well, I guess I am fine with hell. There are clubs there,” I concluded.

Of course God, I didn’t mean it.
Sorry big guy.
I do want to go to heaven.
I do, I do.

Watching Liverpool-Galatasaray match right now and the latter had just scored (3-2 to L’pool now). Crouch had just scored a beautiful (yeah even a non-believer like me HAS to admit it) goal (his 2nd in the match) and the Reds are dominating the game. I wish Galatasaray can bounce back. Hell, I hope they win. But ..aiyah.. I think Crouch is on a roll tonight. COME ON GALATASARAY!

Damn those freakish long legs.

Sharinah and I went to trim our hair and were “psycho-ed” by the effeminate hair stylist to rebond our hair. He was zero-ing in on our weakness – curly, frizzy hair. I told him nope. Don’t think m y hair can take another beating. Let it rest already, while I grow it longer. Then we see what we can do to it.

We KFC-ed during break-fast time. Hadn’t had fast food for quite a while and that is good. Felt quite guilty eating outside cause when I got back, the parents had already prepared tons of food. Told them I would eat later but I fell asleep all the way to 0230hrs (yes it’s 0400hrs now and I am wide awake). Now, I am just eating my Lindt Excellence Ecuador 75% Intense Dark chocolate. Think the food can be eaten tomorrow night.

I lovefucking love dark chocolates. And this has got to be one of the good ones I’ve tasted. Didn’t try many obviously. I am a creature of habit and familiarity.

Oh well.

Am conducting an open-book Lit test tomorrow. Now the problem is, did I tell the kids to bring their books? Sheesh. I don’t understand these kids. What’s with keeping their books at home???? Will their parents read abridged Shakespeare? Why bother having a timetable if you don’t bloody stick to it. What’s inside your freaking bag anyway?

Okay, I don’t want to know.

A thousand times goodnight, hormonally-charged students.

P/S: Some male students have been getting quite bold. Do I look like a potential gf to you? Wake up your freaking idea.

I wonder if you know

I have freaky people around me and what is sad about it is that...they may be thinking the same thing about me. Hahaha.

Stayed up to watch the match and well...I couldnt wake up obviously and had to take a cab (what? again?) to school. This has been quite a weakness because taking the train and then a feeder bus is just too tiresome for me because I still have to entertain bright and perky students on the bus when all I want to do is to ...zzzz.

And erm...I think I am ridiculously dressed today. Am wearing the sister's dress right now and I keep on thinking that it is too short, which is not possible because how can a normal dress look short on a short person? I think it is I feel like I am acting "young" by wearing this piece of garment. Haiyah.....next time dont wear lor.

Think I shall go trim my hair. Didnt buy shoes yesterday. I figured...I could use the money for more cab rides to school.

Oh man.
I might as well charter a cab everyday.
Or, look for a semi-permanent ..ahem..personal all-rounded chauffeur.

You yi ge di fang...

遠方 有一個地方
那裡種有我們的夢想
某天 也許會相遇
相遇在這個好地方

*不要太擔心 只因為我相信
終會走過這條遙遠的道路

OH PARA PARADISE 是否那麼重要
你是否那麼地遙遠
重唱 #

可惜 我們的故鄉
放不下我們的理想
好嗎 想問你一下
告訴我外面的世界
(Paradise, Beyond)

Now let’s go Cantonese. Let me see. Should be like this, if I am not wrong.

Chang ging…moon joi liu hei mong
Nei ngoh wooi yau tin chung hoi hak am
Sui ji…joi chi dik sat mong
Hon je lui yi ging jau do jun tau

Mong jeuk nei jau yuen … ngoh bing moot yau sam suen

Oh para paradise

Oh para paradise

Oh para paradise

I really, really, really love this song. And growing up, I just love Wong Ka Kui’s voice

“Life is not about what you’ve gained, but what you’ve done.”
(Wong Ka Kui, 1962 – 1993)

Awrite, it’s getting a bit freaky in here.

Oh well.

Just finished setting up a Lit test for the Sec 2 Express…bloody Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. Argh, bloody Shakespeare! Other than that, nothing much to say about school today. I did accompany Miss Lee and 2 other cadets to HTA though. They were to try out new revolver – Taurus and the new Smith and Wesson. I didn’t get to try because…gah, I wasn’t in my uniform.

Dammit.
I think I should just keep my uniform at my desk.

Went to catch a show with Sharinah after breaking fast today. And I must say, JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE, though typical, is still more entertaining than Gigolo Wannabe and P.S.

The movie is just a mish-mash of Ten Things I Hate About You, Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen, Mean Girls, You Drive Me Crazy, Cant’ Hardly Wait and Bring It On. But true to this genre, no matter how predictable, high school comedy will always entertain. Though the level of entertainment is subjective.

JTMD still brings on the romantic yearning…especially *ahem* to single girls. And with that, I was just purring like a lost kitten throughout the entire movie, wishing I had a colourful and exciting love life.

Awrite…need to eat something for the fast and to enjoy the remaining half of Man U-Benfica match. So far…it has been sucky.

Man U seem to be on a slump.
Must be the fasting month.

A thousand times goodnight strong Muslims. We shall handle this month with utmost ease.

The teacher and her shoes

My throat is drying up. Been screaming since 0800hrs and now it is 1215hrs.

You’ve heard of MILF.
We’ve heard of (p)MILF.
And today it seems like a TILF-day.
Must be the heels.
They wanted to know where I’d gotten my shoes.
I am not sure if the shoe fetish lies with me…or with them.

Didn’t know that of all things, it had to be my shoes which fascinate all the kids.
To think the father said I had one pair too many.

I shall get me another later.

I *HEART* shoes.

Okay, that’s so bimbotic.

Better the devil I know

I was god damn right.

So sad..
So sad..
So sad..

But oh well, Hady's a trouper and he is more versatile (read: poppish). In all, it was a great finale. But what's an event without the biting feedback?

* ENERGY= a weak link..cant sing, cant dance cant speak English
* why were the finalists miming? We all know most of them suck anyway...
* Mathilda's ill-fitting dress was distracting
* Gurmit doesnt know sistic's website address????
* Ken Lim wrote that bland song for Taufik???
* why werent we told about the ratio?
* Wake Me Up When Sept Ends is too low for Tanya Chua

Hah.

P/S: Ismail voted 20 times for Hady. Alamak, I couldnt top that.
P/S: The brother voted 30 times for Taufik in the first season. Faint.

Hangin' tough

Have been free for almost 2 hours. Combating sleepiness is almost a futile attempt. It's 1300hrs and i still cant go home because they assign lessons till 1445hours later!!!

Sleepy...
Hungry...
Bored...

Setting the papers is a near-impossible task with sleepiness looming above my head.

Lauren was supposed to accompany me to the Indoor Stadium tonight for the SI results. But our dear friend is sick at the moment so...i have a vacant space.

Oh well.

###

Manic Sept babies' birthday gathering!!

Am sending Lauren some samples of my Chinese song collection. Faint.

Tiring weekend. I need another weekend to recuperate, man. Simply had too much fun.

SEPTEMBER BABIES’ PARTY
When: 23rd Sept 2006
Where: Merchant Court Hotel
Who: Ed, Lauren, Ting, Grace, Jason, Nani, Ismail, Susan, Sean, Sha
What: Jap-inspired high tea

By 1545hrs, we were all at Ellenborough Market Café @ Merchant Court Hotel. We were initially pissed (Ting threw a mini bitch-fit) that due to a baby’s 1-month-celebration, we were placed al fresco on a hot Saturday afternoon. However, hunger and excitement crept in and we tucked in happily. Of course there was a lot of cam-whoring. And err..yeah…the funny conversations and jokes.

Ting: Japanese preppy student
Grace + Jay: Jap-inspired Tshirt
Nani: Jap tourist
Lauren: Tshirt made in Japan
Ed + Sha: kimono-esque top
Susan: “act-cute” hair clip
Sean: hmm..sleazy Jap man perhaps?
Ismail: Da-xiong/Nobita of Doraemon!!!

Thank God I didn’t turn up as Doraemon.

Anyway…get ready the cameras...

Here we go!

The 2 birthday girls. Sha and Susan. Jo couldn’t join us because she was having her auditions @ MediaCorp.

Then it’s time to give the presents. We bought Susan a GUESS bag and for Sha, a thumb drive (well that was what she wanted, mah!). Mail’s sister also contributed a frame to Sha’s stash. Hahaha. You’re part of the family now, Sha.

More photo-whoring followed before we eventually left that place at about 1800hrs.
By the way, I think Sha looks like BlinkyMummy.

Susan, Sean and Nani soon left us. We then headed to The Coffee Club @ Boat Quay. Parked ourselves on the bean bags, ordered more drinks and snacks and then started a series of cramp-inducing games of charade, animal game, vocab game, winking-murderer game and haha, the sausage game (which escalated into a vulgarity contest). For the latter, we had to ask someone stupid questions and the person had to answer “Sausage”. The person who answered the questions shouldn’t laugh. If he/she did, he/she had to be replaced.

“What do you dig your ears with?”
“Sausage!”
What do you like to sleep with?”
“Sausage!”
Who do you like to kiss your wife or sausage?”
“Sausage…”
“What’s in between your legs right now?”
“Sau..sage!”

Crazy.
But that was just the tip of the ice berg. Soon, we changed the answer to..ahem..other words which shall not be named here.

Bad art-y shot there. Anyway we stayed till 2330hrs before heading to Orchard’s Swensens’ to ..eat again.

Hahaha.
Jo was to join us then and she hadn’t eaten dinner so we all decided to go there to meet her.

Anyway we soon parted at 0130hrs. Sha, Lauren and I then headed to Cineleisure to watch P.S.

Anyway the movie..P.S. …well I didn’t quite get the show. So I don’t think I want to do a little feature on that movie. Bah!! Fell in and out of sleep. The slow pace didn’t help either. The only thing I can remember about the movie was the sex scene. Ah, but then again, I will always remember such scenes.

39-year old woman met 20ish-year-old boy.
She lusted after him.
They fucked.
Why must it be so difficult?
Gah!

Finally got home at about 0400hrs. What a day!

Okay that summed up my weekend. It's back to the grind tomorrow...with nothing to wear. And an unset exam paper.

But still a thousand times goodnight my sweet beautiful ones. Thank you for being a part of my life.

P/S: The sister went to Chiang Mai just now for some social service project. WE saw her boyfriend. Ah…

P/S/S: Managed to fast today. Happy fasting to my fellow Muslims.
