Breaking the habit

Ang Wee Wee already bought the My Chemical Romance ticket for me. Woohoo!!!

Now, shall have to get Linkin Park's ticket soon.
My student told me the cheapest ones have all been sold out.

So excited to see Shinoda again.
In the end, I will probably bleed it out and become numb and eventually, faint.

Lame, Ed.
So lame.

P/S: The girls are coming over later.

P/P/S: Am wearing my Hari Raya baju kurung. The colleagues' reactions were bloody exaggerated...like they've never seen anyone so covered up before in their entire lives.

One Way Or Another

I met Jaybon (not real name) recently near my workplace. He's an acquaintance from the bookie days of yore. The Malay guy lah...remember him, Matt?  Anyway, I bumped into him and he gave me his number. No choice but to give mine.

Jaybon smsed me this morning, asking if I'm free this Saturday evening for coffee and to catch-up (on what I have no idea). okay...

1) I dont like to go out with an attached/married man (whom I remotely know) on a Saturday night, the prime night of the week.  Daytime is preferred.

2) Obviously he has no freaking clue that it's the big match night

3) He gives me the creeps...the heebee jeebees.

Okay, maybe I am too sensitive regarding point #1. It's just coffee, right? Who knows maybe he has broken up with the gf and there wont be an "angry-gf-attacks-innocent-woman" kind of scenario. But aiyah...think some of you can understand my point lah,

Point #2...wahlao! Obviously he is not a Man U...or football fan. If that's the case, I shall not be bothered. Come on! All those talks at the bookie place were just bullcrap? Eurgh, I hate this type of people.

Point #3...related to above. I remember when we were working at the place together during the World Cup, I had the "fortune" to sit near him. He began to yak about his life, his religious knowledge and his sex life. YEAH, RELIGION AND SEX!  He even wanted to pry into my non-existing sex life...and was happy enough to hear all the fake detaile I lifelessly conjured. At that time, although it didnt show, I was actually damn distressed!

One night...again I was "lucky" to bump into him at a bus stop in town. After his gf boarded the bus home, he waited for his bus and conveniently chatted with me about religion. He also mentioned that his gf knew he had slept around before but she was smart enough to forgive him because she knew a man like him was hard to come by. THAT'S PURE STUPIDITY, WOMAN. Am so ashamed to be in the same species group as this woman

Why do I remember this?
It's because it's amazing how incorrigible men can be!

Anyway, yeah..at the bus stop. He also ranted about how he's always right and others were always wrong. Like...what the hell! Why do I tend to get stuck with such men? Do I look like church confession booth? A doormat or a super absorbent sponge? You just walk your ideas on me? Or exect me to listen and absorb everything you say?

Walk with me, not walk on me.

Cheap sale!
Persian carpet...$200!
Going once..twice..
Sold.

..
..

Awrite, managed to cancel the Saturday meet-up. Told him I am not free on weekends - that's the truth.

Well, I should have just left it at that but I felt bad and so..urgh..I suggested a weekday night meeting instead. I was thinking of a weekday night in the next millennium but he was quick to suggest this Monday evening.

Die.
Cannot run.
He knows where I work.

Can somebody save me at 2000hrs (that's 8pm) on Monday?
Please?
I treat you ice cream, no?

P/S: Sheesh I make it sound as if I am meeting a serial killer.

Magedimaa magedimii magedimoo...maameemoo

Just when I proclaimed my hunger...Berry Berry Strawberry came into the office and gallantly handed me 2 packs of Mamee.

Hooray!

Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Snow White is down...
No thanks to bloody idiot of "ucleaner', 'pcsecuresystem' and "your privacy guard" spyware/adwares.
Yeah the freaking irony.
My privacy guard, my ass.
Cant seem to shake it of.
Been trying for 2 days.

In the meantime, I can still use the laptop. It's just that I have to endure the regular pop ups...telling me that I should download 'your effing privacy guard'. Realised my antivirus has expired that's why. It's time to update, I guess. Am just wondering if I can clean it up without sacrificing my files/folders.

Spent the whole day doing mindless marking. It's all mindless. What a way to celebrate my "coming-of-age". I turn 3 months old today. Am good to take leave days now...all 8 days of them. Just that...I have no suitable days to take. I know if I were to take leave, chances are, I'd be doing work from home ... in all my unwashed state of glory.

Oh well.
Virtual depression aside.
Work depression aside.

The girlies are coming over to my place and we are also heading to Liah's tomorrow. Hopefully that will turn out well. Friday...will be a clubbing session. God knows where we are going. Initially Liah and I are planning to go St James' but I think there are changes. Saturday, apart from psyching myself up for the evening's big match (Man U and Arsenal, ya'll) I may need to run a bit of errand and maybe..just maybe...get a camera.

Or a haircut.
Or a dress.
Or shoes.
Or bags.
Or whatever my meagre salary can buy.

Sunday is Ismail's 27th Best Picture Birthday Party @ Amirah's Grill. Still cant decide which West Side Story's Maria I am going to come as: the red-dressed Maria (need to get a red dress!), the apron-ed Maria (need to get an orange apron!), the scarf-ed Maria or the nightgown-ed Maria (need to find my sleep gown!). Maybe I should bring all clothes and change every 15 minutes...breaking out into a song while I'm at it.

Wonder if everyone will print out their characters...
...just so that we all can make a comparison and bitch about how "tak sama" we all look from the original actors.

Oh well.

Time nos is slightly past 200hrs. Why am I still at work?  Well, I am currently running a freaking computer scan. Been at it for almost an hour and it is very sayang to stop now. Also, hah, I'm blogging cant you tell. Nowadays, I cant seem to blog at home cause I will just doze off. I dont watch that much TV also cause the father seems to be hogging it.

Awrite..awrite..shall retreat back to marking.
Boring.

P/S: Sha, have you gotten the present?

P/P/S: Hungry.....

Jingle bell jinggle bell rock

Christmas comes early this year.
But...not like I celebrate it
But still...!

Have been given a task to develop a unit and this has to be done by December. Do you have any idea how near December is? How fast it will all end? Can you imagine 60 days whizzing before January shows its nose.

80 more days.
Before I turn twenty-fucking-eight?

Yeah. Coming up with a new unit from scratch. Need to do research.

Starting now.

Instant karma ... and we all shine on

"When the sun shines
We'll shine together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath
I'mma stick it out 'till the end"

Nothing. Just felt like humming 'Umbrella' this morning. Must be due to the gloomy and windy weather outside.

..
..

Two nights ago on Sunday, as I was minding my own business and eating dinner in front of dear telly, the mother, out of nowhere spoke aloud.

"Have you no desire to get married?"

I ignored her buzzing sound and stared into the gogglebox. My heart did scream "Nobody wants your daughter, mah!" though. Just kept quiet and continued eating. It didnt occur to her that if I was married, I wouldnt be able to keep her company on that boring and lonely Sunday night. No...I wasnt hurt. I was just...you know..evs.

Then last night...hahahaha..karma did bite, I tell you. I came home and was told by the father that the mother got severe rashes and was at the clinic. He wanted me to go and look for her. However, just when I was about to leave, she came home. So I retreated back to my room and did my mind-my-own-business kind of stuff.

Then came a rap on the door. It was the mother.

"Can help me put the calamine lotion on the whole of my back? It is itching like hell!"

Ah...now you need me, huh?

You know I cant do this for you if I am married, you know. You have to take a bus, cab, jet or whatsoever to my crib cause I wont be in this house. Then you can ask the man who has no sense of gentle-ness (the father) to rub your scaly back.

Hmmm.
Karma.

P/S: Of course I do want her to get well lah. Otherwise, who is gonna do the cooking?

P/P/S: Kidding...yes..I do wish her well.

In Bloom

Home page changed ... checked.
Extras on toolbar .... checked.
Pop-ups...checked.
Slow ... checked.

Confirmed lah!
Snow White has been freaking infected with bloody herpes.
Now which one of the 7 dwarves did it?

Unbelievable. Like it knows it's going to be pay day soon.

Idiot.

To Funan, tomorrow.

###

We gotta get out of this place

Havent switched the laptop on. I have a feeling it will still be problematic.

I am giving it one more day. Going to try salvage the content to the external disk tonight. Maybe tomorrow, I send it to the "clinics" at Funan. Hopefully, they can give me a cheap price. Freaking idiot. They do this to me every year.

Wait...I think I just changed the hard disk earlier this year. Earlier this year, okay!
Bloody hell..I should invest in a fucking proper (read: expensive) antivirus/spyware.

Whatever it is, I am not going back to HP. Not when I have a whole mall of withc doctors next door.

Urgh..money money down the virtual drain.

I am so tempted to get the Macbook. Bloody hell.

I'm Not O-fucking-kay

N.B. : This contains many fucks.

Great.
Si-bei fucking great.

Yes, nothing makes me mad and sad than a malfunctioning computer. After 2 days of not switching it on, I just found that there were many fuck-ups. Am attacked by a barrage of pop-ups, viruses and what-nots. Like...what the fuck. Out of a sudden? The instinct is telling me to screw the sister cause she was the last one to use on Saturday...as I lay dead on my bed.

Yes dead. I died this weekend.

Friday saw me as usual...working "hard". In the afternoon, it was The Boss' birthday so the department had a mini celebration for him in the MCR. After that, it was off to yoga. Almost puked the curry puffs and cake. Once that was done, it was time to head to Pasir Ris for the chalet.

Intended to go off at 2300hrs but was lured to stay till morning. So stay...I did. Went off at 1000hrs, got home and then left for work at 1230hrs. Yeah had to go to work cause had to attend the stupid company bbq for the new students at the principal's house.

The place was near Lorong Chuan... behind St Gabriel's.
His house was opulent.
Huge was an understatement.
Had never stepped into such a grand house.
Mah Bow Tan's house also cannot fight.

So yeah....I was supposed to mingle but...was in no mood to mingle and pringle with the rest. Had no kakis there also and well, most of the students were from China so yeah.. a lot of chinese chit-chatting buzzing around me. No friends and out of place. Great. Stationed myself at the pit and bbq-ed till the cows came home from 163ohs to 1930hrs. Got all hot, sweaty and smelly.

By 2000hrs, I was not only disgustng, my right eye was swollen terribly ~ no thanks to the smoke and ashes. It hurt bad. I was tearing all the way home.

Fell asleep while watching the Man U-Boro match.

Woke up this morning and rushed to the library cause I had a meeting with the NPCC HQ people. We were to discuss some projects which I now regret having a part to play. Came home, watched Drumline and then fell asleep again from 1500hrs all the way to 1900hrs. God knows why was I so freaking tired.

So yeah....I got to Snow White at 2200hrs and up till now, I couldnt access my windows. Am using The Brother's laptop now because I really want to vent it out. Am getting a heartattack soon. Snow White is still fucked up. Windows Security Alert pop-ups keep coming up. Various virus alerts keep coming up when there is absolutely nothing on it.

I have done my Spyware check and have cleaned everything and yet am still bothered by all this shit. How the fuck can I do my lecture on Wednesday? Fucking chee bye. Dont tell me I have to fucking send this for fucking repair lah..

I cant take it anymore.
Was so pissed I became hostile to everyone who wanted to chat online.
Sorry.

My computer is my livelihood.

Am fucking pissed.

Over $1000+ amount of work need to be done and I fucking cant do it because the Snow White is fucking acting up. If I have to clean her up from scratch...I..I..am going to fucking kill someone. Anyone.

ARGH!!

P/S: Go to bed, people.

Something's coming, Maria!

For the third night in a row, I ended up sleeping elsewhere apart from my bed. The body is all stiffed up. Good luck for yoga later.

Yeah there will be a short 1hr yoga session at 1630hrs at the school. I sign up because I want to see how the colleagues look like when they are all contorted. Anyway just had lunch - rice, vege and rendang and oh..banana jemput-jemput - and I hope all these will all go down by yoga time.

Just found out that I am going to teach two more units: Advertising and Popular Culture and Entertainment. They sound much more fun compared to what I am having now...Global Culture, Documentary and Media Culture. But ah...I will confirm the "level of fun-ness" once I start them next month.

Back to marking..marking...and more marking.

P/S: Gonna hit the east later...some students are having a barbecue session and they have invited me. Shall show face and get out of Pasir Ris by 2300hrs.

P/P/S: I have submitted my Best Picture entry to Ismail for his birthday. I will be going as Maria of West Side Story. Not sure which scene or which set of clothes, though. There's the red dress, the pinafore, white dress and the capri-blouse get up. I may even turn up reprising the standing-at-balcony-in-nightgown scene if I can find my Victoria's Secret nightdress. Disgusting...but will do.Sing with me now: I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and bright!!!

Paranoid Android [me]

I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss.

Two jumps in a week
I bet you think that's pretty clever don't you boy
Flying on your motorcycle
Watching all the ground beneath you drop
You'd kill yourself for recognition
Kill yourself to never ever stop
You broke another mirror
You're turning into something you are not

Don't leave me high, don't leave me dry
Don't leave me high, don't leave me dry

Drying up in conversation
You will be the one who cannot talk
All your insides fall to pieces,
You just sit there wishing you could still make love
They're the ones who'll hate you
When you think you've got the world all sussed out
They're the ones who'll spit at you
You will be the one screaming out

Don't leave me high, don't leave me dry
Don't leave me high, don't leave me dry

It's the best thing that you've ever had
The best thing that you've ever, ever had
It's the best thing that you've ever had
The best thing you've had has gone away

Don't leave me high, don't leave me dry
Don't leave me high, don't leave me dry
- High And Dry, Radiohead

Each passing day brings me closer to the end.
The end will justify the means.
I am ready to put 2007 behind me.

Word Play

On Vietnamese films
- "[T]hey call them instant noodle films, because you bang it out, you shoot it, one week later it's in theatres."

- "Young girls were getting jacked, busted and fucked."

On other Asian films
- "Bertolucci said China was fascinating and that the people of china have innocence."

- "The impact from Hollywood movie to Asian movie was not only to Asian movie market, but also in the characteristic of Asian movie."

- "We all knew already that Asian movies are catchy and attractive publics."

Video killed the radio star

La Moron!

I was walking in my usual pacy, fox-trotty manner when I suddenly slipped in front of the lift. Not only that, my right heel snapped. Had to run back to the house to change into another pair of red heels. Well...my "momentum" was broken and I decided to hail a cab.

Good choice cause I came to school early.
But it took a toll on the pockets.
$18.50

Anyway...it was about Culture and Ethnicity today. Decided to show Singapore Gaga to the students as I managed to borrow it from the National Library. Interesting local documentary and it was nice to show a bit of Singapore life to the foreign students. However, the nicest of them all was when I heard the voice of the ex-boss. The MRT lady.

Her soothing voice engulfed the whole classroom and I was proud to tell the students that she was once my boss and that I had a wonderful time working with her. In fact, I just sms-ed her and wow, it has been such a long time since I last met her. Not only her...the whole jing-gang at Redi; the eccentric radio technicians, the dour receptionist, the freaky security officers, the kooky part-time presenters and of course..the boss.

Good times.
Good music.

And ah, I had the best "confinement" time ever; 2 years being locked up in a 4x4 studio surrounded by records.

Good times.

Now it's lunch time.

Park Life

Had morning class with only 3 students turning up. Apparently they werent aware that there was even a revision class - screw-ups with the Planning Dept there.

Lunch time saw me strolling over to Marina Square to meet Lauren. I was on split shift today but the MassComm team decided to have a meeting/tea session at 1630hrs. I figured...why bother going back. So I hung out at Suntec and then decided to watch SUPERBAD. Review later.

Now here I am in class. Tonight is supposedly the last class for Docu module and Rizzo is not here. I mean...WHAT THE HECK?! This is infuriating. I borrowed/pilfered documentaries to show in class but there's seldom an audience to share them with. Am I destined to keep my "knowledge" to myself?

Hahahaha.
Okay, that sounded funny-disgusting.

I am having a bad Grey's Anatomy addiction. Fridays are the best days cause they will upload the latest episodes online and then I can satisfy my need-for-grey latest craving. I then spend Saturdays to Thursdays reading recaps, previews, critiques, fan feedback and writers' analysis. It is sick, I tell you. I seldom watch TV anymore. Apart from doing work (and the occasional) meet-ups with friends, I am most of the time wired (or is it wireless?) to the web.

Awrite.
Maybe I should start on work.
No student now...might as well start on planning tomorrow's lesson.

Tomorrow...tomorrow
I love you
Tomorrow
You're only a day away

....and 3 more days to Friday's GA!

P/S: But first...let me surf the Best Picture sites for Ismail's bday gathering.

Famous last words

They are coming.
Dec 11, 2007.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE are freaking coming!

And thanks to Weewee Elyse, I am getting the ticket tomorrow.
Free standing!
Hoo-fucking-ray!!

I really cannot wait to see (and hear) the theatrics and the carefreeness. Cannot wait to smell the sweat of fellow concert-goers and have their limbs jabbing my face, their feet stepping my toes and their hair in my mouth. Yes, as sick as that may sound...that's what rock concerts are made of. And I absolutely adore it!

And I have Linkin Park coming up real soon. Dont feel like sitting down. Jumping up and down... screaming like a banshee is the way to go. I need to get rock-concert gear!!

I freaking love rock concerts!!

My Chemical Romance
I will look past their skinny jeans.
Bleurgh.

"We're damned after all
Through fortune and flame we fall
And if you can stay

Then I'll show you the way
To return from the ashes you call

We all carry on
When our brothers in arms are gone
So raise your glass high
For tomorrow we die
And return from the ashes you call"

Check this out. Shall we paint our faces????

Oh..by the way, I managed to get a few of my students to join me.
Maybe the sister is joining too
This is going to be sooo crazy.
Sahriah, game?

Okay..I need to get new and durable bermudas, sweat bands and lots of lozenges. Gonna be so broke with the birthdays and Daffy's wedding creeping in. But ..man..it's Linkin Park and MCR!

I missed the first LP concert at the Padang. Wait technically I was there...outside the venue. This time round, I need to be inside.
Shinoda's ass is mine.

Walao eh!!!
I cannot sleep!

By the way, I just realise my 2 favourite men are almost alike.
I think this is my "type". Hahahaha.

Mike Shinoda and Ami James.
I like!

Shit lah...It's almost 0400hrs. I really need to do some work.

Ta!

Pictures of us

Here are the pictures taken on Sunday.
First stop: Noreen+Faizal's place.

The busy host and hostess.

Weiling and Junyi

Err..Liah and me

Here we go.

I left them soon after and headed to Sha's at Geylang Bahru.
There we handed Ismail his box of chicken treats.

Then the stuffing-your-face feasting began.
And the visiting kicked off.
Different houses, same poses.
Dont bother trying to figure out whose houses.
We cam-whored so much, Alfie had a "culture-shock".

As always, the blurry ones come from my phone.
I think I really need to get a camera...or a better phone.

More pictures when I get them from Nani, Sha and Ismail.

Now...back to the books.

A thousand times goodnight, Bookworm Club members.

P/S: I think I am beginning to "pimp" my students. Have been giving them job opportunities as well as internships. I'm good!

Day-o...daylight come and we wanna go home

Alamak.

This morning I spilled Milo in the MCR (Mass Comm Room). I quickly grabbed a mop and clear the spill. I washed the mop after that and put it back in the original place.

Now, the the old cleaner (let's call her Britney Spears cause she is so crass) just came into the MCR. Britney said she wanted to mop the room. Fine...she is mopping in front of me right now and guess what? The whole room is smelling like Milo!!!!

Apparently, I didnt wash the mop properly!

It also goes to show that the cleaner doesnt use detergent to mop the floor.

Why do I feel disgusted now?

P/S: Ew! Before she left the room, Britney Spears complained that she had to wash the toilet after mopping. In Hokkien and broken Malay, she told me that many girls wiped their vajayjays (she said "nonok"..gasp!) with tissue and the toilet bowls were choked with tissue paper. Not enough with that, she replicated the act of wiping the punani in front of me. What the...!

###

Mas que nada... come on!

Arrgghh!!!

WHAT THE FUCK ARE PSYCHOLOGICAL REALISM AND EMPIRICAL REALISM??

Why must simple common sense be shrouded by clutter-y language?
If you cant explain it in simple terms, you fail to convey the idea, stupid!

I am so hard news.

###

Let's Get Retarded

I am sorry to burst your bubble.
Mass communication is one of the hardest subjects you can ever study.
It is a bloody collection of social sciences!

[Let me rattle on. I just need to reflect on what are the things that have I been wasting sleep for these past months.]

What I have to learn right now in order to teach my students is so vast. Over the past 3 months (yes, it has been only 3 months), I have read, and sometimes analysed, sociology, anthropology, technology, genealogy, psychology, ideology, cosmology, theology, economics, cinematography, epistemology, ethnology, philology  and the ever-boggling philosophy.

A lot to absorb right? Tell me about it. However, of all the -logies in the world, there is one...a very important one...which I havent learnt or am not given enough exposure - Pedagogy.

Pedagogy - the art or science of being a teacher

What is the bloody point in learning rocket science if I dont know how to make it interesting to the students?
Or not knowing how to engage them in debates about globalisation? What is the point if I dont know how to manage my class?

My relief teaching stint was a scam. No trainings were given to us and yet, we were expected to change the world. Not everyone has the innate ability to teach but there are many organisations who fail to consider that.

Okay, what is my problem here?

My problem is that I have to teach life subjects but I havent received the proper training of being an educator. I still cant forgive NIE for rejecting my application. Humph.

Now, here comes the irony.

I received a formal note from NIE a month into my lecturing job. It told me that I was then "fit" to be a lecturer. I was "good to go". They (the NIE) even gave me a list of subjects I was qualified to teach. Suddenly, I am good enough to teach adult human beings but not good enough to study in their "holy" institution? Or is it because ... since The School is not a government organisation, they dont give a damn about the quality of the teachers? Professor Li...am I or am I not good enough? Dont phunk with my heart, baby.

Not good enough, if I were to confess.

..
..
..

Back to my super thick and wordy book.

P/S: BEP's concert tonight. Too curious to give it a miss, too cheap to pay. 'Stingy-ness' rules. No concert, but books tonight then.

P/P/S: Where's the love, people?

Rainy Mondays and Mondays

...urgh.

I am so freaking sleepy right now.
So sleepy that I am beginning to develop a throbbing headache.

I am definitely going out for lunch soon.
Just a matter of where.
Hmm...where can I go and eat today?

I feel like Fish n Chips...maybe I go to Boat Quay.

So lonely.

This Night Won't Last Forever

Good morning <strike>Vietnam Baltimore</strike> City Hall!
It's great to make it to work.

...and dont I sound chipper?
Isnt the day looking like a recipe of disaster and malaise?
We can only tell at the end of it.

..
..
..

Had a super long day yesterday, one which started at 0730hrs. Went to school, rushed home and rushed out in the searing sun again to meet Liah, Weiling and her hubby. Was sweating buckets with my baju kurung stuck wet on my back. Cooled down at the void deck and then we went to Noreen's pad.

[pictures to come]

At about 1430hrs I had to leave cause the Moonies were having our own gathering also. Lauren was still at the interchange and so I waited at the bus stop near Noreen's...absorbing more ultraviolet rays and Vitamin D. When the bus came, with her on it, I quickly hopped on, only to find the bus had a poor air-conditioning system. It was damn stuffy...just a few notches short of the stuffiness we felt on the HK bus.

The bus wasnt even packed. Why must I pay more bus fare for bad air-conditioning? The other day I was on bus #24 and the whole bus looked like dumpster. The floor was stained and the air was sour. It looked like someone vomitted at the back of the bus the week before and the whole gunky mess just slowly dribbled its way to the front, unclean for weeks.

Reached Sha's place only to find Alfie and Jason to be the only ones there. By 1600hrs everyone was there (sans the sick Jo) which was "on-time" actually. We asked everyone to come at 1500hrs because we knew all of us would be late. And haha, Sha had no chance to be late cause we made her place the first stop.

We cam-whored.
A lot.

Oh oh!
We also gave Ismail a box of chicken treats for his birthday.
Hope he like it.

Next was Nani's, Ismail's, Tini's and chez moi. Many people, many cars. One of the successful Raya visits in terms of attendance and house calls.

They all left my place at 2245hrs. That's early considering that most of us are all night-birds. Alas, it's back to work on Monday so <strike>I </strike> everyone had to go back and rest. Sent them down and hahahaha (so much for resting) I then got into Nani's car and just sat there with her for 30 minutes. We just loved to plan events.

I didnt say "materialising" the event.
I just said "plan".

Concussed on the bedroom floor at 0100hrs and was lucky to wake up at 0730hrs even though I didnt manage to set the 6 alarm clocks. Braved the rain to work and here I am....off to make another cup of drink.

I shall make some coffee now. Strong ..kao kao..coffee.

Back to work after that.

P/S: Was watching Grey's Anatomy earlier but the stupid "feed" stopped halfway. Now I cant really work. I need to see what happen in the rest of Ep4!

The drugs don't work

“There's not a day goes by I don't feel regret. Not because I'm in here, or because you think I should. I look back on the way I was then: a young, stupid kid who committed that terrible crime. I want to talk to him. I want to try and talk some sense to him, tell him the way things are. But I can't. That kid's long gone and this old man is all that's left. I got to live with that. Rehabilitated? It's just a bullshit word.”

It took me 13 years to finally know THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (thanks to web technology!) and urgh...all those years I had missed out!

13 years...better late than never at all.

Another great show to add to my personal favourites. Tomorrow (or rather, later) I shall go and discuss this movie with one of my students. He happens to be a prison warden and it has been a great class activity...prying information from the gaol. To no avail of course.

“It’s a terrible thing to live in fear.” - The Shawshank Redemption

Ah I am quite inspired by the power of determination right now.
One day...one day...
Some day.
Soon.

..
..
..

Man U had a brilliant game against Aston Villa. When Reo-Coker got sent off, I was quite elated but however, when the goalie got sent off, I got quite sad. Flashing 2 red cards in a game always sounds like a joke to me. But oh well, it was a clear red-card worthy of a foul.

Today, everyone ticked. Nani was fluid. Tevez was effective. Anderson was menacing, Giggs was well-oiled and ah, Rooney was almost précised – save for that spot kick.Ronaldo wasn’t even in the first 75 minutes. It felt good to win 4-1 and not the usual binary 1-0 crap.

And now my weekend is gone.

Awrite.

It’s 0435hrs. I’ve been wanting to sleep ever since waking up at 0645hrs for NPCC this morning. Takes me almost 24 hours. Class later at 0900hrs, Noreen’s place at 1330hrs and then to Sha’s.

It’s gonna be a long day.

It’s the hope of retiring on my bed at the end of the day that will keep me going, I tell you.

“Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." - Andy Dufresne, The Shawshank Redemption

A thousand times goodnight, natural born dreamers.

I like to build the world a home

Am still awake. Barely though.

Oh!

Man U's up 3-1.

2nd half now.

Move along

Screw Arsenal-Bolton match.

No Anelka.
Boring.

###

Ferry cross the Mersey ... and straight to hell

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Trust Phil Neville to become a goalie.

URGH!

So much for supporting Everton.

Wait!

That's a penalty to EVERTON!
Carragher fell Lescott!

REFEREE KAYU!
Let's Rob Styles-ed him!!!

LET'S!

Bah. On to the next match.
Arsenal versus Bolton
BOLTON, for me.
It's the underdogs' night.

Of course tomorrow (0010hrs) is another story.
It's Man U time then.

P/S: But it was funny to see Neville used his hand to stop the ball. I am sure at that point, it was the best decision he had ever made.

P/S: There's going to be a lot of football snippets tonight cause, obviously, I am psyching myself for the Villa-Man U match. I am worried that I might fall asleep. So yeah...all this fake enthusiasm for other teams is supposed to prep me for the big match.

P/S: I really dont give a shit about what you think about Bolton.

###

Spanish harlem harlot

i dont have to be a pundit to say that Benitez is crazy.

RAFA BENITEZ is crazy.

Why is Gerrard taken out? Just because he missed that shot? He may look autistic listless...but hello, so are the rest of the freaking team!

Benitez is crazy.

Who's next?
Kuyt?

P/S: Maybe Benitez is doing a Fergie. Stamp down Gerrard because he has expressed his desire to leave. Like Fergie did to Staam, to Beckham...

P/S: But at least that's Fergie!

###

Fools rush in [at the penalty box]

Hibbert...red-carded?

Na-bei!

Come on Everton!
AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGHHH!

P.S: Bloody penalty goal.

###

Oh Mersey Mersey me

Am watching the Merseyside derby. Exciting.

Right now, I'm a Toffee Scouser.

Later.

I'm Not Okay

My one and only student hasnt come to class and it is already 2040hrs. Class is supposed to start 100 minutes ago.

So now...

I am watching movies online. Ice Age 2 seems to be the antidote.

Antidote to pisshood.

I am in love with the McDonalds' girl boy

As much of them being the "victims" of circumstances, I feel a burning detest for the Gizzies.

Instead...I thank God everyday for the "existence" of McSteamy.

I didnt expect that in Season 4, I will find him somewhat endearing.

McBoggling, indeed.

Goodnight ...@ 0900hrs.

How To Save A Life

Got back at 2245hrs, fell asleep while reading the papers at 2300hrs and woke up in ultimate filth of yesterday's stench at 0600hrs.

And the amazing thing is that...I am still up

It's 0820hrs and I am watching Grey's Anatomy. My body, though, is begging me to go back to bed.

Soon.

But before that...HAPPY 27th BIRTHDAY, ISMAIL s/o ASPAR!

Big girls you are beautiful....right.

Am at the Mass Comm Room (the room will be simply identified as MCR...macam My Chemical Romance) still. Been sitting in here for 3 hours and I havent done anything constructive. I totally blame my friends and the mamak near my work place.

* My friends because they were so crazy last night ... sapping my energy with jokes after jokes and hilarious pseudo-concerts
* The mamak ... because his plate of ikan-bilis fried rice is adding to my carbo malaise. The plate was also generously peppered with onions and now I am full of gas.

Tired. Sleepy. Gassy.

Am meeting Clara soon cause she is coming over to my area in search of sports shoes. I hope the search is quick cause I am absolutely knackered. And also, I think today I look like thrash - sloppy white tshirt with green jacket, black slouchy pants with shiny blue mary janes.

Yeah. I dont have a sense of fashion, I admit.
I am not covering that up with Eclecticism.
I am just gifted with grab-whatever-you-can-get style.

Do you know where you're going to?

Let me take you down 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever

Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see
It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out
It doesn't matter much to me

Let me take you down 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever

No one I think is in my tree
I mean it must be high or low
That is you can't you know tune in but it's all right
That is I think it's not too bad

Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever

Always no sometimes think it's me
But you know I know when it's a dream
I think I know I mean "Yes," but it's all wrong
That is I think I disagree

Let me take you down 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever
Strawberry Fields forever
Strawberry Fields forever

Melancholia. I've been diseased by it.

The need to dive into the naked openness has resurfaced. However, I have yet to find my own meadow and therefore it is quite pointless to be diving into nothing.

Truth will come.

Rolling..rolling..rolling..RAWHIDE!

Kaki bloody melecet.

My choice of shoes are never satisfactory.

Urgh, I hate my feet ....

...and everything else that is connected to it.

Importance of being (freaking) idle

Hung out at work till quite late. At about 2015hrs, Nani came over and we went to Boat Quay's Shah Alam for dinner. At about an hour later, we were to be joined by Ismail and Sahriah. We're going to sing our hearts' content! To the karaoke joint, ya'll.

But first, Mail handed Sha her real belated birthday present.

Receiving money and all its glory....thanks to Tini.

After that the wailing (macam anjing nak beranak!) began. This time round, we injected Hari Raya songs into the reportoire.Throughout the 3.3hour session, four of us got hysterical with laughter. In fact we were like laughing half of the time. On most parts, I had tears in my eyes and ache in the belly. Especially when Sha purposely ejected the KRU song Nani and I were singing. Klasik.

Anyway, it's full attendance. Although there are only 4 Moonie Melayus, it's damn hard to get Sha everyone together. Tonight, it was about passing Sha's her present and an advance birthday treat to Ismail. Of course, it's the perfect opportunity for a us to cam-whore (pelacur kamera, eh?). Okay...pelacur kamera sounds very very wrong there.

[Better pictures later from them]

It's just a little treat from us, Mail. Hope you, and the other 2 girls, had a great time. I certainly did.

Now, I am real tired and I dont think I want to stay up to do work. Have to just wing it tomorrow. Also, my throat is real hurting. I think it must have almost kicked the bucket when I sang Linkin Park's Faint and My Chemical Romance's Helena. Ouch.

"Came a time
When every star fall brought you to tears again
We are the very hurt you sold
And what's the worst you take

From every heart you break
And like the blade you stain
Well I've been holding on tonight

What's the worst that I can say?
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight" (Helena)

Time to wish you so long and goodnight.

A thousand times goodnight, freeloaders and toploaders.

Govinda jaya jaya gopala jaya jaya

I locked myself in the Mass Comm room and watched BORN INTO BROTHELS -- to prepare myself for my documentary class this Friday. It has to be one of the most saddest docus I have ever seen. It is inspiring, and yet, it is depressing the shit out of me. I think I will bawl my eyes out again this Friday.

Allow me to ramble.

Human beings are seldom grateful. Things are never enough; nothing is good enough. It takes watching others suffer to make us realise that, hey, we're lucky. Watching others try and fail inspire us but also curtail our dreams because we fear facing the same failure. We see how the suffering hardens them and we want to take a beating in order to soar ...but we..we..are too chicken.

I am neither asking for God to whip me bloody nor am I begging to be thrown into the throes of utmost misery. What I want are more challenges; challenges that test my patience, my sanity, my faith. I remember wishing for more patience and more strength and now I know...if obstacles dont come my way, how can I sharpen my patience, my limit?

I wasnt born in a brothel and I dont know any prostitutes. I cant really say I know what these people are going through. Alas, human suffering is universal and that, I can understand. I can understand the helplessness and the bleakness of it all although what we all have gone through are just of various degrees.

But pain and suffering are universal.
You know what kind of emotions and feelings these two bring.

Sometimes you cant help but wonder,"Where are you God in this time of need?" I have my days too. Being the logical twat that I am, obviously I dont expect to hear God say, "I am here you, little idiot. Believe in me!" but there have been days when those words would have come really handy.

From the disappointment of not being able to hear God's voice physically (we are not talking about communication through praying. just talking in general), I find that I can make out what I want to hear. I just need to have a conscience. But haha, it is a vicious cycle because my conscience says, "Trust in God."

Wokie do.
Enough of indulgence.

Was late for class today. I was done with work at 0600hrs in the morning and had intended to get an hour of shut-eye. One hour turned to 2.5 and I woke up at 0830hrs and my class starts at 0900hrs. Anyway, thanks to my legs, I got to work at 0905hrs. Hooray.

Erm. That's all.
The rambling took away most of my enthusiasm.
Excuse me while I question the tattvas surrounding me.

"Well the truth may come in strange disguises
Never knowing what it means."

P/S: I need to get a digital SLR camera before going to West Timor next year. I think it is hight time I get a camera. I have been shutterless for almost 4 years.

P/P/S: ...and have been guitar-less for 7 years.

Outside looking in

Sharinah and Meiling didnt turn up.
But...I had Lauren, Nani and Sha over.

We were lounging at the living room when the sister and the parents came home from their visiting session. Then the sister said her boyfriend and his parents were coming. Gasp! I know! Anyway, we adjourned to the bed room.

That's right!
Sha's in baju kurung!

The girls were there till almost midnight.
Thanks for coming over!

To Moonies, how about a Jalan Raya session this Sunday, 21st? Sha has offered her place as the HQ this year and so, let's gather there at 1500hrs (that's 3pm!) and after that, we'll go west.

Liah, I will head to Noreen's after work. Will be there around 1330hrs.

Okay. Off to work now.

P/S: Moonies, feedback on my comments page if any.

Greensleaves

I am in the middle of class ...

...and I have a desperate need to do a #2.

Argh, I am turning green, trying to hold it in.

Everything's so blurry

A bit passive-aggressive today.

The family, sans the father, continued visiting. We started a bit late cause we had some relatives coming over. Anyway, we headed to 3 houses at Woodlands and Hougang today. Tiring still. It's tiring to stuff yourself with food, okay!

Oh well...here are some pictures.

Taken at home on Saturday..before the "ask-for-forgiveness" part.

Oops...wrong one.
This is spastic.

Prosperous me.

We went to my auntie's place after that.
She managed to "borrow" Queen E from the hospital for a day.

The brother, the father, the cousin and son + Queen E

The me, sis, mother, cousin's wife, cousin
The auntie, Queen E

The sister with Irfan, the cousin's son.
Notice the colour difference?
The sis is adopted.

With auntie, uncles and cousins @ Marine Parade.
I love my relatives but there was an awkward moment there.

Oh well.

People came over to visit on 2nd day.

Over at my aunt's at Hougang just now.

My "Stage-4-cancer" auntie and son.
I am glad that she is still celebrating with us...but I am sad to see her condition.

Oh never mind.

It's 0200hrs and I should be going to bed cause tomorrow...sigh..it's back to work and I have a 0900hr morning class.

Tomorrow, tomorrow
I love you
Tomorrow
You're only a day away

Bull crap.

A thousand times goodnight, Michelin-certified stomachs.
