Bohemian days continue...

It is evening and I am still in the same state as I was in when I woke up many many hours ago. What have I been doing? I have been combing the web and been sending out resumes after resumes. God knows how many I have sent out. But I am glad to see that there are many jobs out there. So, insya Allah, good luck to me.

Am still waiting for the cheque.
Hmmm...dont tell me they purposely forget all about it?
Oiii...money leh!

Okay. I need to finally brush my teeth, shower and get ready. Going to a movie premiere and I am bringing Joanne (fellow bummer..hooray!) along. Tonight I have 2 (!!) reviews to do. I cannot delay it anymore. I foresee getting real busy come next week onwards.

Urgh.
Pockets feel light.
What is this?
Dust!

Amor Vincit Omnia

Not the very best of vocal, but it is earnest.

The path that I'm walking, I must go alone
I must take the baby steps till I'm full grown, full grown
Fairy tales don't always have a happy ending, do they?
And I forsee the dark ahead if I stay

I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It's personal, myself and I
We got some straightening out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I've gotta get a move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
And big girls don't cry
(Fergie)

Big girls don't eat mangoes like I do, either!

Just had a midnight urge to chew so I went to the fridge, took a big mango and walked to the sink. I sank my claws fingernails into it and began to peel the mango within 3 seconds by ripping the skin off. Then I devoured it...with sweet mango juice running down my arms down into the sink.

This will take too long!

I used to bring mangoes with me whenever I go camping or hiking. When I got hungry or thirsty in the middle of jungle, I would whip one juicy one from the bag and begin to peel it with my dirty fingers as I walked. Once a cadet saw me slurping the juicy golden mango and began to run around wildly looking for a mango tree. He couldnt find and he began to ask excitably:

Kid: Where did you get that??? I want one too!!!
Ed: Get what? This? (pointed to the mango)
Kid: Yeah! Looks so yummy. I'm hungry!
Ed: Err...err..
Kid: I dont see any mango trees leh!
Ed: Erm...I brought it from home.
Kid: Huh? Who will bring mangoes to the jungle???
Ed: Me.

Excuse me.
A mango contains about 15% sugar, up to 1% protein, and significant amounts of Vitamins A, B and C. It has a high water content so...it can sustain me in the jungle.

Okay enough about mangoes.
Didnt do anything much today.
Didnt even do the review.

But I did take out the yoga mat and ..hahaha..of all things...did yoga in the living room today. A bit sad cause the reinforces the fact that I am getting old and rusty. It is getting harder to twist and bend. Limbs are all stiff and wooden.

Yeah...easy for you to say.

Did a bit reading just now. Read some articles on classical religions and ancient beliefs. Came to this article which showed some famous people in history indulging in pederasty. Thanks to CY and Bluink, I spent 2 hours reading it up and eventually I was brought to the pages of Bible, Gospel and Qur'an.

Many names have been linked to pederasty. I read of Socrates, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Walt Whitman, Nehru (yes the Jawaharlal Nehru), Alexander the Great, Oscar Wilde, Abu Nawas, Pope Julius III, Lord Byron, Tchaikovsky, etc. Many of these great men indulged in pederasty for the rest of their lives even though some were married to women and even had kids. I read while some of these relationships were chaste, most had sexual relationships.

My readings brought to the pages touching on religion and again I stumbled upon Sodom and Gomorrah and words from the holy books. It is getting quite worrying as CY and I began to imagine what the future world would be when more and more men turned homosexual.

Will we be exterminated like what happened to Lot's (Nabi Lut) men?
God forbids.

Argh..it's getting very hot. Hell fire is lurking.

Hah.

A thousand times goodnight, resident evil.

Ed full of nonsense

Afternoon showers welcoming evening.

Woke up easily today at 0900hrs cause I wanted to catch Miss Universe. Didnt get to see Miss Singapore at all. Not even an eye lash. Maybe the eyes werent tuned to see her...hidden behind Amazonians.

Miss Japan Riyo Mori
Miss Universe 2007

Yup, an Asian has been crowned as the most beautiful woman in the universe and Miss Japan was in the Top 5 with Miss Brazil, (gasp) Miss Korea, Miss Venezuela (oh bloody gorgeous) and Miss USA...who fell on her ass during the evening gown section.

I realised the blondes were reduced and there were more brunettes. Also realised how the South American girls are just breath-takingly beautiful and are a notch above the rest. But yeah...it's Japan who bagged it, after being robbed of the title last year.

And oh just in case you dont know, this is Miss Singapore, Jessica Tan.

Wanted to go library to do some work but the weather dampened my plan. Been stuck in my room the whole afternoon away now...ripping cds and just surfing.

Anyway had a call from some company just now. It is dealing with education. Again.

We'll see how.
Dear...or no deal?

When the universe conspires...

First thing first…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DEAR OLD SHARINAH!

Birthday Girl hasn’t been feeling tops these past few days…down with fever and all. Still, I wish you a very Happy Birthday and may things be brighter and happier for you. May birds sing sweeter and may life be more purposeful. All the best in your career and and well, all the best in our ya-ya sisterhood.

Coincidentally, the other Jie (Meiling) is also down.
She has gotten the pox.
Meiling, get well soon. I need you in NPCC.

Last Friday I saw something almost unthinkable.

Woah…momma got so happy, baby.
This is just one percent short of being the cacao bean itself!

Anyway finally managed to get to it on Sunday…

Then *piak* came the virgin bite…

…and I almost fainted.

The bitterness jolted the nerves! It was whacked! Meiji has done it this time and I reached the acme of my dark chocolate obsession. What was I thinking! Just because 85% was chicken feet for me, I was gung-ho enough to try this? Maybe I shouldn’t have been so ambitious. Should look for the 90% first before trying this.

No fucking way.
Think I stay off chocolates for at least 5 days.

Eeeee… the thought of that bitter thing going down my throat is enough to make my stomach churn. The remainder of the choc can sit pretty for the next few days while I decide on what to do with it.

Awrite. Enough tribute to Jerry Seinfeld…all this talk about nothing. Had to do a movie review just now and had the pleasure of having Rae with me.

We caught LEGEND OF THE SEA, an animated movie produced in association with Kosmic Film Ent. in the U.S., The Media Development Authority of Singapore and Zhongnan Animation Video in China. The show is based on the legend of the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea, a symbol that has existed in Chinese culture for thousands of years. The voice cast features Asian recording superstars "JJ" Lin Jun Jie and Lin Yuzhong, as well as rising Chinese star Jin Sha. So duh…it was in Mandarin.

Oh man…how do I start?
*breathes in…breathes out*
Here we go.

The animation is amateurish, the colours are dull, the creatures speak slow and deliberate…spouting Confucious which I have totally no clue of (as the subtitles didn’t really do much justice), it is neither exciting nor funny and I have totally no idea why anyone will want to see this. The beginning is dull and the ending is ridiculous.

LOTS seems like a watered (pun totally intended) down version of Shark Tale, Finding Nemo and err..Mushu the dragon (of Mulan fame), except (like I have mentioned) less funny. Come on! A cartoon has to be funny…or at least exciting, right?

Oh crap!
What’s this?

You mean they are selling this to America? To India? Oh my freaking God! Are they crazy? Are they going to clean up their totally ridiculous subtitles…bad grammar, spelling and all? And what? LOTS merchandise? Are they sure? The kids in the cinema were totally bored out of their skulls just now.

I could feel their restlessness choking me in there!

Okay before you throw anti-patriotism crap into my face, let me make this clear. I am NOT against local productions. Truthfully, I love to watch local fare and I really love my Army Daze, 12 Storeys, Teenage Text Book, Forever Fever, Home Run, The Maid, Singapore Dreaming, One Leg Kicking and Yeo Yann Yann is my favourite local actress. I even adore Anthony Chen’s yet-to-be released short film (managed to catch it during an internal screening) entitled Ah Ma, which is right now being shown in Cannes. However LOTS is a mega disappointment. "Mega" is not even a big enough adjective.

Oh it frustrates the hell out of me just by recalling the show.
Pooh!

Anyway, if you really must watch LOTS despite its nautical nonsense, try (this is hard) not to have any expectations. Nothing..zilch..nada. And probably you wont be disappointed.

Now, excuse me.
I have to think of tamer words for the (actual, more formal) movie review for LOTS. The “boss” had told me to be objective and generally, be nice. Well whatever it is,,,you read it here first. Shall sleep on it.

Oh by the way…throughout the entire 77 minutes of the show, I was hoping SpongeBob SquarePants would jump out and stir some bo liao madness into the dull characters. He didn’t, of course. Guess he hasn’t brushed up on his Mandarin just as yet.

A thousand times goodnight, wayward seafarers.

P/S: Scary. Man capsized at the Lower Seletar Reservoir during kayaking and his body (am assuming he is dead here) is still missing. Now authorities have closed the place. There goes my kayaking session.

P/P/S: Miss Universe is up in a matter of hours.

"Hola, Buenos noches.
Mucho gusto en conocerle.
Permítame a presentarme.
Me llamo Maria Corazon Iglesias Santana Barbarella
Real Madrid, Raul Gonzalez, Tapas, La Cucaracha
MISS ESPANA!"

Orang Melayu kita

My weekend was whacked. After looking for spaghetti sauce at 0200hrs in the morning for field cooking (yes I cooked spaghetti for field cooking to the amazement of my cadets), I woke up late for NPCC. Jumped out of bed at 0845hrs and felt like skipping it. However, I saw the spaghetti, sauce and tuna on the table and recalled how I had Grace driving me to the convenient store, I gingerly woke up.

The tuna 'bolognaise' spaghetti turned out fine...despite me choking on soot and carbon caused by the burning of solid fuel. We all cooked our food on longkangs behind the school. Classic.

Rushed home to get to religious class. It was supposed to be our last lesson. But my lecturer wished to have one more lesson next week. I dont know. Maybe he thinks we are still clueless. Haha. Anyway good... I can never get enough of Zakaria Bagharib. He's crazy.

Hahah.

Am at the National Library right now. Had a long lunch with the author just now and he told me the book will come out in about 10 days. Wow...quite excited! Will get to see my name in print (Ed, the editor). I hope the book will do well. Or rather, at least there will be a little sale. If I get a bit more money out of it (from author's goodwill, of course) I will give you guys a treat, okay? Not a mega feast....but hah, we'll see how.

We went to our usual place - Arab Street - for Padang food. After that we headed to usual coffee joint, Ya Kun at Raffles Hospital. It is always nice to talk to my 68-year-old author. He has many stories and many sound advice to dispense to the world-weary me. We met at around 1230hrs and we parted at about 1700hrs. Good chat...about politics, religion and sex. Haha...sex!

Anyway here I am. Just done with the exhibition upstairs.

The exhibition is called AKSARA: The Passage of Malay Scripts (Menjejaki Tulisan Melayu). It is a real fantastic exhibition displaying stoned manuscripts, ancient kitabs and many relics associating with the history of the Malay language. It is a humbling experience to see how my language has evolved. A bit sad realising that it is going down to the dogs but nevertheless, am proud to see how advanced we have evolved. AKSARA makes me determine to keep my language and to champion its beauty and progression. Bahasa melambangkan bangsa, okay. Language reflects a nation, okay.

And here I am blogging in English. Chet!

Oh dear. Have to run off to Plaza Singapura to meet Rae. We have a movie to review, Legends Of The Sea...this Chinese cartoon which has JJ Lin lending his voice to one of the characters. Damn. No time to blog about my 99% dark chocolate experience. Later then.

Dream Queen Calypso

If you were on a soap opera, you'd be a ...

Take this test at TickleDrama Queen

Ed, if you were on a soap opera, you'd be a Drama Queen.

Did someone say drama? Energetic and lively, you get a kick out of shaking things up and making sure there's never a dull moment. Whether that means stealing your best friend's man, seeing to it that your ex suffers, or spreading a juicy secret around town, you'd certainly keep things interesting on the soaps.Outgoing and fun, you're a people person who adds life to any event, whether it's a swanky costume ball or a mellow housewarming get-together. You enjoy keeping people entertained and well-informed. Everyone should count themselves lucky to know you since you're sure to bring some spice wherever you go. Zesty!

Hmmm...I am the Drama Queen.
What are you?
Find out here.

Will Turner: Will you marry me?
Elizabeth Swann: [fighting a battle] I don't think now's the best time!
Will Turner: Now may be the only time! I love you. I made my choice. What's yours?

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN:AT WORLD'S END gets a little extreme. When it gets talky, boy can the characters yak..with incoherent accent to boot. But when they bring in the laughter and the action, POTC3 was smart and hilarious. Maybe I was really dead tired (no thanks to the Champions' League final the night before) and hence the vieweing pleasure was a bit disturbed. But I really believed the first half of the show was really draggy. Many unnecessary plots and acting should have chopped off or trimmed. It's not slick enough, and it can be quite disjointed. But ah, it is quite a great fun to watch.

Do watch this show with an empty bladder. And oh, I read that there is a special footage in between the credits so do stay around. Nani and I didnt...as we quickly made a beeline out of the freezing Choa Chu Kang's cinema. If you have seen the footage, what is it about??

Oh well.

I still think that Part 1 and 2 were better, although Part 2 was really bo liao. Hey, I like bo liao funny plots.

Went to town in the evening just now with Lauren, Nani and Grace. Had a hilarious time running around shopping centres (it was the start of the Great Singapore Sale and it was late night shoping night) and mucking round like insane kids. Didnt realise it was soon to be midnight.

But right...that didnt deter the crowd from lingering around.

Available eateries were swamped after midnight. I guess, all the shopping made them hungry. The streets were abuzz with shoppers and tourists and it felt like Ching Gay Mardi Gras. Street performers on stilts could have perfected the picture just now. The mood was really festive. It felt like Christmas had arrived. Man.

Great Singapore Sale is actually the Great Singapore Workout in disguise.

Oh well.

The right arm is aching. Played badminton just now with some of the students and a PE teacher. The latter was fantastic.

Oh, the last day of school got a slightly teary me at certain parts. Received great stuff from the kids and I must really say a huge thank you for making my stay a bit worth it.

Argh. Cannot take it. Need to sleep pronto. NPCC later.

A thousand times goodnight, numbats!

How to save a life?

Jordin won (It's okay, Blake, it's okay).
AC Milan won.
Pirates of the Caribbean 3 can get too draggy and incoherent.
Ed's broke.
Ed's tired.
Ed's obsessed.
Ed's a bit sad to leave students.

Ed's sleepy.

A thousand time goodnights. bummers and dreamers.

I want to...I'd love to...

FINALLY...Snow White is back in my arms.

Am about $300 poorer but I hope it's worth the spending.

So ah, here are some overdued random pictures taken before the Resurrection, at Gold Coast 2007.

Feels like ages since the days I was there.

Rushed all the way down to VivoCity to meet Nani just now and we caught PRICELESS.

PRICELESS was not as spectacular as I expected. But it was quirky and funny at bits. Maybe it is just me...but I really dont see the hype in casting Audrey Tautou. Her face is old and her body is not sexy, her acting is so-so and her expressions are limited. What? Inner beauty and charm? Oh.

Anyhow, the ending was cool. No typical rags-to-riches ending. Them riding off into the horizon on a scooter is so...erm...romantic. Hah, I am biased. I just love scooters.

There's something about scooters and old-school charming romance.
Ah sucker.

Oh well.

Was on the prowl for little gifts to get for the parents for their 29th anniversary next Friday. Got some kinky stuff for the mother and as for the father...I'll see what I can get this weekend. Or maybe, I get the brother to get something for the old man. Nani suggested a whip for the parents to use on each other.

That's just sick.
It's sick for me to hear their moans of painful ecstasy in between the whipping whooses.

Aye me, a sick mind have I!

But if I get the whip for them, maybe I can borrow when they are not using it. For skipping purposes, really. Whipped cream, anyone? But again, on second thought....no. Funny how come their kinky genes are not passed to me? Hahahaha.

Awrite the match has started and I should start packing for work tomorrow. 2 more days to freedom and wow I am relishing it. Will celebrate the 2-day countdown with a movie...Pirates of the Caribbean. Jack Sparrow, here I come.

But for now...it's time for Maldini, Nesta, Kaka, Gattuso and gang. Go AC MILAN!

A thousand times goodnight, whipped souls.

P/S: Will sleep with Snow White..will hug her solid white body in my arms till day breaks.
