I am at Asian Civilisations Museum ... Hazel is gonna perform. After this I will re-join Meiling at Peninsula-Excelsior Hotel in our seaview room for the New Year fireworks.
Happy New Year people.

Nothing on you
I have been nagged at all my life...preachers have nothing on me.
So bring your preachings elsewhere.
If you are sincere about sharing and teaching, you'd figure something more creative to do so.

Song of the wind
Interesting day.
After skiving the afternoon away, I met up with WeeWee and her friend, Daphne, at the Singapore Science Centre. She had invited me to join her to see the grand premiere of U2 3D show here in Singapore

I met the two girls around 1915hrs and since there was a buffet, I helped my famished self to the spread. Almost 30 minutes later, we were ushered into the 3D Theatre@The Annexe (just a normal theatre hall, NOT the freaking OmniMax, to my disappointment!).

So yeah, the show was about 90 minutes long and U2 played about 14 songs (including my favs Miss Sarajevo and New Year's Day). My beef was that the screen was not big enough and the sound system did not do the concert justice. Still, if you're a U2 fan and you havent seen them live, this is the closest you can get. Do bear in mind that this was made 4 years ago so..haha..none of their latest songs will be there.
All right.
Yesterday, I finally met Liah and the gang. Full house...like, finally! I texted everyone on Sunday asking if they were free to meet before the year would end. Hah, didnt expect the response would be that good. It's just dinner at Fish & Co at AMK Hub but still, it's difficult to actually have all 5 of us together. The last time we met as a quintet was during Isa's birthday ... before my Spain adventure.

Weiling, Liah, Noreen and Clara...thank you for being a friend these 17 years. I wouldnt trade you people for the world.
31 here we come.
P/S: Just bought 4 tickets for Santana's concert for the brother, his wife, the father and myself. Though the brother's gonna pay me, I feel so filthy broke now.

Candle in the wind
Oh yes. Before I end my blog rampage (and before the Chelsea-Arsenal match starts), I just want to share that it has been a year since the passing.

365 days since you've been gone.
29 years of loving you.
Million years yearning to be the little girl you used to play with.
Thank you for everything, Bibik.
You have no idea how much.

Pass that dutch
I'll be waiting
Looking for a male stand-in boyfriend to bring to occasions.
Will pay in kindness.
Sometimes..haha..kindness knows no bounds.
:)
Meet The Parents: Little Fockers were, as expected, tiresome. It did have some funny bits but those moments were very very few. I felt sad watching it...sad for the actors. Given a choice, I would have spent that $6 buying Coffee Bean's Banana Caramel Swirl Yoghurt.
P/S: 4 more days to a new year.
P/P/S: 24 more days to a new age.

New kid in school
Think I will apply for University of London's Postgrad Diploma in Economic Policy (external programme) next year.
I cant afford a full master's programme and since this is totally different from my degree, I should attempt the postgrad first. If I survive it and is still inspired, I will take up the remaining subjects in order to the get the Master of Science accreditation.
A new step.
Or...
I should just stick to that media-related course from University of Leicester (distance programme).

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
I just got back home...had supper with A-Go-Go at Newton. Before that, we were at Church of St. Alphonsus, also known as Novena Church (the one near Novena MRT)

No no..I didn't convert. It's just that I like visiting other places of worship. Not to sound smug, it kind of strengthens my own belief in my own religion. That's Islam, by the way. I dont want to comment on other religions without knowing what they believe in, without making comparisons and without trying to be emphathetic. Plus, isn't that the meaning of Christmas? Rather than you go ho ho ho-ing at some parties and getting yourself smashed, isn't it the motive to be near God?
Anyway...
I actually planned to go to Jason's Christian church but somehow, Jay told me yesterday that he and Joanne wouldnt be going to church. My first thought was that: "Hmm..maybe they have converted!" but haha, I dont know. I was fine with the thought of staying at home (it's not my holy day anyway) when I suddenly remembered that A-Go-Go, a close colleague of mine, did not manage to go home to the Philippines and would be spending her Christmas alone in Singapore. JLo, her roommate and also a colleague, had gone back and so...yeah, alone.
I texted A-Go-Go yesterday that if she needed some company to attend mass, I could be her date. I like to attend such things anyway and since there'll befree karaoke carolling and all, I was game.

We met at 2045hrs at Novena MRT. Initially I thought it was an early meet-up considering the mass started at 2230hrs, but when we got to the church, the pews were almost fully filled up. We managed to get a seat somewhere at the back and by 2145hrs, people had already taken up all the seats outside under the huge tent. So yeah, I apologised to those Catholics who had to stand outside for taking up their space inside the church. Hey...peace and brotherhood, right? Right?
So while waiting for the mass, the choir sang (they were on the upper deck and I couldnt see them...like voices from above, literally!), we joined the carolling and then at 2200hrs, the church put up a Nativity play.
Though it was not supposed to be, I thought it was hilarious. Seeing Chinese Mary, Joseph, shepherds and the wise men were funny. Hearing them breaking out into songs were funnier. One of the wise men even looked like a drunken hippie...hilarious!

That sure broke the seriousness of a Catholic mass. Then, the choir started to sing Holy Night ...

...and soon a video of a procession was broadcast on all the screens placed around the church. It was the procession to mark the start of the mass.

The priests entered the church. The actors from the play were also behind them. They then walked to the "manger" which was beside the church to place the fake, plastic baby Jesus. Then the priests and altar boys finally made their way into the main hall and up the stage, to the altar. Then the whole praying starting.
I didnt just listen stupidly, okay. I actually processed a lot of things in my mind...filtering the information and like I said earlier, making comparisons. Some words I took, some..well..I returned it back to the altar or volleyed to the people around me. I know my religion...so..yeah.
We left after the passing of the holy communion, which was at 2345hrs, as we wanted to avoid the stampede which would happen slightly after midnight. We walked all the way to Newton Circus after that.
So that's my first Catholic Christmas mass. And mentioning Christmas, the Mass Comm-Hospitality-Psychology departments (and ET, an honorary participant from Biz dept) had 2 get-togethers recently. On the 20th, we bused to the nearby Fatboy's burger bar.

That's the portobello mushroom burger I had and...hah, the mass comm dept.
Then last Thursday (23rd), we had our Mass Comm-Hospitality potluck with 2 guests (1 from Psychology and 1 from Biz). It was just done in our staff room.
Somebody brought rice, bread, crackers, veggies, Old Chang Kee puffs...

...somebody brought chicken curry..

...somebody brought a log cake.

Asimov bought green tea/sprite and a bottle of red wine. They drank it, including Abercrombie, who had a class after lunch. Expected, she said she was smiling and slurring in class. It's hilarious because it's Christmas. Okay fine..teachers shouldnt be drinking before class but ... okay it was just a bit and there was a little lunch-do.
Not sure how strong cheap red wine could be but yeah...it was hilarious when Asimov had an Inception-moment after a trip to the loo. On the way back to the office, he, who also drank the wine, said he felt like the walls and floor were moving and falling on him.
Crazy people.
Lucky I didnt drink.
So yeah...I have ranted enough. Here's wishing my Christian/Catholic/what-have-you friends a very Merry Christmas.

Be blessed and stay that way.
Don't drink and drive.

Moonage daydream
Watch this movie trailer.
You'd expect a lot of things just by looking at the trailer. Hell yeah...based on the original, you would have thought it would be groundbreaking. But but but, I watched it just now and oh-em-gee...

I want my 2 hours back!
It was fine at the beginning but the middle...oh the middle.. I lost my youth. It was so freaking slow for an action sci-fi. Puh-leese Disney. Dont do this genre anymore.
Wish I had watched Rapunzel instead just now.
...even though I had seen it last week.

Warm and fuzzy Christmas
I haven't been feeling well these past few days. Think it's work-mental stress and Sunday's heat exhaustion has finally taking its toll. My stomach hasnt been feeling top of the world...maybe it is also due to the lack of quality food at the workplace. Or the poor toilet habits I developed eversince we moved to the new workplace (water pressure is really bad on the 6th floor so loo visits are kept at minimum).
Or maybe it's true what they say. The water at level 6 is not safe for consumption.
Calm down dear stomach.
There's only how much (and how long) you can churn.

Mama knows best
"When I stand before thee at the day's end, thou shalt see my scars and know that I had my wounds and also my healing."
That's what Rabindranath Tagore said on healing - from broken hearts, to broken dreams, broken spirits and broken homes.
Random.
I am healing from Friday-Saturday's dance-a-mania and Sunday's run. On Saturday, as I limped to work, I knew it was a bad move to do the run on Sunday. But, we're never the quitters, and you know that. So yeah...sucked it.
Results were abysmal. I think your grandma could clock faster timing than I did because trust me, after 5kms, I started to feel the sun's searing heat on my temples. I hung on though, keeping to my rog (run-jog?). Eventually I saw the sign...
...2KM to go.
And there's the water point.
Had a cold cup of 100Plus but the drink went everywhere but my mouth so I had another one. Bad move. The 2nd cup was warm and it was too sweet. I told myself "Don't puke...don't puke. Only 2kms away!" But good golly wow, it was the longest 2kms of my life. I even contemplated vomitting by the bay at Esplanade but there were so many people sitting there and the thought of having vomit down my shirt at the finishing line was just...gross.
1KM more!
People were cheering. "Faster! Come on! You can do it!" they said. Oh I felt like puking in their faces. I tried to run but the shins are tensing up. The vomit's slowly rising as well. So yeah...took it slow.
Jay, Rae, Lauren and I headed to Jalan Kayu after that. I was already pukey at the maximum level and just before the prata came, I rushed to the toilet and did a Merlion out of the 100Plus.
Time of 100 minutes and should I were to go on to the next race, I'd definitely want to beat that. Who doesnt right?
So yeah.
My first 10km race...not without drama.

El Cant del Barça
The El Clasico is happening in 5 hours' time (It's 2300hrs now) and I really really really hope I stay sane enough to watch it. Once it ends at around 0600hrs, I swear I'm going to go to work and for once, be really early.
Right.

Top: Camp Nou
Bottom: Santiago Bernabeu
I am a Barca fan over Madrid. However, I wish I had taken more photos at Bernabeu...or even took the stadium tour. Mentioning tour, the Camp Nou tour was so-so only because we couldnt go down into the dressing room (unlike my Old Trafford tour which was nothing short of spectacular!) but the following day, I managed to secure passes to catch the La Liga's Barca-Valencia match and it was...AWESOME!

And here we were...with some Spanish boys.
Awwwwooo!
