Sabah Trip Day 3 - 11 Dec

0700hrs Kota Kinabalu

On our 3rd day at Sabah, we left Ang's hotel at about 7am because we were supposed to be at the Kuala Penyu Ferry Terminal at 9.45am. We were heading to Pulau Tiga, you see. The island was the first location for the SURVIVOR series. Obviously, it was Ismail's idea... haha that Survivor freak. Anyway, we were to spend just one night there and it cost us a whopping RM288 (right?) per person per night. That's FAR MORE EXPENSIVE than a 4-star accommodation in Kota Kinabalu.

We were told that it was hard to get a cab and that the ride would take us 2 hours. We found cab driver, Mr Amian downstairs and we asked him for the price. It was about RM150 for the journey. Mr Amian also offered to pick us up the following day, from Kuala Penyu back to Kota Kinabalu. How nice!

We reached Kuala Penyu (translation: Turtle Bay) at about 0845…a good 1 hour early. So we roamed around the dead-ish place in search for some breakfast. We saw hope in Delights Café. After that we went to the little Pulau Tiga office at the jetty to register and at 1000hrs, we boarded the speed boat (woohoo! Messy hair alert!) for a 30minute ride to Pulau Tiga.

After what seemed like a never-ending journey, we finally reached the island. There were no villages in the island. Nope, no clubs! There were 2 resorts in the island and well, it’s basically quite remote.

We were given a little briefing by our guide. Let’s call him Lazy Eddie. After that, we were given the keys to our rooms – the girls got Sting Ray and the guys got Manta Ray – and settled down. After that, we roamed around and found some interesting spots.

Yours truly, Farhana, Nazmi and Ismail...reliving our childhood days on the retro-looking swings. After this shot, i fell off the swing. I sat too far back, lost balance and did a somersault to the ground. I landed on my ass and the swing struck my forehead. i concussed for a split second. I couldnt remember being hit... but i had a HUGE swelling. Best.

After lunch (at about 2pm), we took a hike to the Mud Volcano Area. Lazy Eddie said that the route was easy so we could go on our own. I think he was just lazy to follow us. DUH. It started out easy but 5 minutes into the walk, it got tough because the slopes were slippery and muddy.

After walking for about 20 minutes in the mud, my Havaianas were beyond recognition. But I love you still, baby. Anyway, we were told that the mud was cold and therapeutic. And it was quite deep. Yeah...how deep could mud be?

Okay, the mud volcano was 4 feet deep. All of us were hesitant to go in because we felt it was gross. *We didnt want to be a block of hardened mud later* So we did the best first-thing. We painted our faces with the mud and do the Maori's kumate-kumate chant. Hahaha. Guess whose idea was it?

We slowly overcame the "fear" of getting into the mud...and proceeded into going deeper. But these pictures didn’t really show because I didn’t take any shots that showed us in the deep mud. Whatever it was, we were soon joined by some people from the other resort. So there were quite a few of us soaking in the mud a la hippopotamuses. There was this lady who saw me floating swiftly on the thick mud. She called me “Buaya!”

Oh Lord, we were disgusting! Remember Swamp Thing? We had mud in our bras, undies, in our ears, in our hair...everywhere! We didnt bring any towel, water, change of clothes.

This was the trail we took. We walked barefeet because it was too uncomfortable walking in sandals, dripping with mud. i've got cuts and scratches on my calves and feet to prove it. I felt like the jungle people...coming back from hunting.

Hahahahahahah.

We backtracked to the resort and upon arrival, jumped straight into the sea..scrubbing the bad-ass mud away and polluting the turquoise sea. After that, we went back to our room, put our stuff and then we continued with snorkelling….which was sucky because there wereno corals to see. Gah!!!

Then it was dinner time and since we had nothing to do, the guys suggested karaoke (again!). The resort had this big lounge room where lodgers could play pool and sing karaoke. Farhana and I started playing pool while the 2 guys started to sing. After a while, I joined them singing. But my repertoire for the night was all rock songs.

After hogging the place for 2 hours, we finally decided to give our lungs a break. We slowly walked to the dark jetty, talked crap and sang whatever rubbish songs that came to mind. At about 1230hrs, we went back to our rooms. Farhana fell asleep almost immediately. Me? I went over next door for a threesome.

Right.
Like Ismail would want a threesome.
Like I want a threesome with them.
Gah.

I went over to play cards…or rather, Chee bye Bluff. It was hilarious, we laughed so loud Farhana woke up and came over. But eeer, she was too late. We were about to end and Ismail wanted to sleep. So, us girls went back and then…Nazmi came over. We continued with Mak Kau Punya Puki Bluff . At about 0300hrs, when everyone retired to bed…I couldn’t sleep. My brain was still laughing.

3rd day down.

Loose lips on ships

There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt.
You are Pyramid Song...You're kinda gloomy, but in
a beautiful way. A bit old-fashioned, but who
cares? Materials don't matter cos you are who
you are...and that's what really matters.

What Radiohead song are you?

Me, Pyramid Song? I always envisaged myself as Talk Show Host . I am not that depressing I guess. Not yet.

Your Birthdate: January 20

You are a virtual roller coaster of emotions, and most people enjoy the ride.

Your mood tends to set the tone of the room, and when you're happy, this is a good thing.

When you get in a dark mood, watch out - it's very hard to get you out of it.

It's sometimes hard for you to cheer up, and your gloom can be contagious.

Your strength: Your warm heart (Yes..I do have a heart)

Your weakness: Trouble controlling your emotions

Your power color: Black (You bet…it’s skimming)

Your power symbol: Musical note (Dammit! Not the dollar sign?)

Your power month: February (Agree. Feb is a short month so more money for me)

My legs aren’t aching that badly now. That’s good…considering I needed 3 days to recuperate the previous time I went clubbing.

Friday saw me hovering above an ATM machine at midnight. Hah. It was payday, that’s why. Took out wads and wads of cash, took a cab home, slept, and by the next day almost everything was gone. No..no one stole it but the money surrendered themselves to various cash registers all over town.

Right.
I don’t have much in the first place lah.
I am just happy that I’ve gotten myself a new pair of Havaianas’ latest.

Will post their pictures soon.

Saturday saw me rushing to Albert Court Hotel for Dear’s birthday lunch. We had Northern Indian/Nepalese cuisine (I burped tandoori and masala the whole day…on top of suffering an embarrassing bouts of hiccups) and by 1445hrs, we were out of that place. I took Dear shopping (I was appointed the birthday gift-buyer) and by 1830hrs, we both split ways. At 2115hours, I met Sharinah and Lauren ..we went to City Hall..met Dear and Ally and then we headed to Momo.

At Momo, we were joined by Dear’s friends and cousins, Liah, Rae, B and IT. It would have been a bigger posse should Chin Yin and friends joined us earlier. Anyway, Sharinah, Liah and I got to the dance floor first while the rest were busy getting themselves sloshed. I was waiting for the girls but only Rae and Lauren turned up about 45 minutes later. Anyway we were platform-hogging all the way till 0200hrs and then I had to stop for a drink and some food. So Sharinah and I got out (Liah had her friends with her and was still happily diva-dancing the night away) and sat at the café with our cans and cans of drinks and fish and chips.

We were then joined by Lauren and Rae (whom went off for a date…at 0300hrs?? tsk tsk tsk!). Then B, IT and Ally came out. B and IT were obviously high *cough*as usual*cough* because they both were swaggering and talking real loudly. Where’s Dear? Well at 0300hrs, her entourage had sent her home! She was drunk lah.

With Dear gone, B and IT decided to leave too…albeit unwillingly. IT was miffed she couldn’t dance longer with Dear and B…hahahaha..I guess there was no reason to stay now that her hugger was gone, eh? And then there were 4 – Lauren, Ally, Sharinah and me.

At 0330hrs we went in. Liah still going on strong with her friends and friend.

Humph?

Anyway, I saw CY and her group of girls dancing so I decided to join her. But they decided to leave soon after. Cut the interesting story short (Indian guy, Black guy, shirtless guy, fights, etc), we lost Liah to the dark side. Hahaha. The 4 of us then just drowned in the sweatiness of the place and finally at 0530hrs, I had to pull the plug. It’s time to drag ourselves out.

We got some drinks outside and found ourselves a dark corner and rest. Actually, we wanted to just while the time away…beating the midnight charge. At 0600hrs, we finally got to the roadside to get cabs. After Ally got hers, Lauren, Sharinah and I had to wait a DAMN long time for our cab. It took us..what..30 minutes?

Okay..finally reached home and went to bed at..gasp..0745hrs.

Youth is a great elixir, isn’t it?

P/S: Man U won! But my greater satisfaction came in Arsenal’s defeat. Chelsea? I don’t care about them..I think they are capable of winning the World Cup so I am not going to be bothered by them. Humph.

So i sing a song
To reel 'em in
It’s a song i sung before and a song i'm gunna sing again
I mean every word, I don't need a single one of them
Oh Lord, make me pure
But not yet

I don't have to try
I just dial it in
I never found a job that for me was worth bothering
I got a ton of selfish genes and lazy bones beneath this skin
Oh Lord, make me pure
But not yet

Smoking Kids
Sex Ads
I got one end in my pocket but the other looks cool as hell
I know I’m gonna die somehow revenge is living well
Oh Lord, make me pure
But not yet

I stopped praying
So I hope this song will do
I wrote it all, for you
I'm not perfect
But you don't mind that, do you
I know you're there to pull me through, aren't you?

So I look for love
I like to search
And I been standing for election all across the known universe
Every president get the country she deserves
Oh Lord, make me pure
But not yet

And I've been seeing somebody’s wife
She said she'd leave him for me and i said that wasn't wise
You can't lie to a liar, because of all the lies
Oh Lord, please make me pure
But not yet
- Make Me Pure, Robbie Williams

I am not seeing somebody else’s wife (or husband) but other than that, everything mostly runs true.

Soon.

Baby.

Bummed!

Orbi-kwek!

I just got punked by Ruth, my YG chief editor. After "rushing" my dumb-ass Barbie article, I went over to her desk (to submit it) and realised she was on bloody leave!

Could have skived during the last 2 hours.

Barbie War of Words

Good morrow, blogders.

Remember I brought work home last Friday? The Barbie assignment which I only managed to squeeze out 5 lines in 3 hours? As suspected, no work was done because I was busy spending money, making merry and platforming my weekend away at a club.

I started attacking it this morning and I realised something. DAMN. I could have finished the article a long, long time ago if I had just done the traditional pen-to-paper way instead of brain-to-fingers-to-eye-to-keyboard-to-monitor way. No wonder. All my thoughts were lost in motion!

I am just technology deficient, that's all.

Fucking bollocks!

Argh
I give up.
No more Barbie shit for now.
I shall ..sigh...bring home and do.

For now..let's go gym.

Brain dead

I am tired. My wrists are hurting. My back is killing me. I hate to sit down for long, long hours.

That's not all.

I've been staring at these shreds of paper containing the information on the Barbie party I covered on the 4th December. I just cant start writing. Each sentence I come up with sounds so lame and uninspired. This is not even meant to be hard. It's a straight-up article for kids, for fuck sake.

From 1500hrs, I can only come up with 5 dreary lines. 5 LINES! and that took me..what..3 hours?

Times like these, how do you inspire yourself?

Sabah Trip Day 2 - 10 Dec

1000hrs Kota Kinabalu

We got up and left the hotel at around 10am and headed to the Pulau Tiga Resort office at Wisma Merdeka (opp. our hotel). After touring the rest of the shopping building, we decided to have lunch at Sri Malindo Restaurant.

Our lunch spread. After the meal (12.15pm), we decided to jump onto a cab and decided to visit the Kinabalu Park. We thought Mt Kinabalu was at Kota Kinabalu and thought the cab ride would be cheap and fast. After all, what's a trip to Sabah without visiting the Mt Kinabalu, right? Besides, how far could it be?

Right!
It took us 1.5hours and RM250 (RM220 after bargainin/pleading) for a round trip.

After 1.5 hours (cab driver was speeding and we almost hit a vehicle!) of sitting and abusing our asses, guess what did we finally see? Why...it's Mount Kinabalu, of course! FINALLY!!! Actually, you can't really see it in this shot. Gah! Next!

We were going to Kinabalu Park! Well, it's a must-go even though the cab ride killed us.

We reached Kinabalu Park at 2pm and were given 2 hours by our cabby to have a look-see. We had to pay RM15 per person to enter the place. How stupid of us! We could have lied and told them that we were from Johor! Why? Because Malaysians only need to pay RM4! That's almost quadruple, right? Damn. Anyway, we went in, and took a hike around the place.

We hiked on many roads. I was tempted to go down some ulu trails. However, the rest didnt seem interested. We found a shed along the way and hid. It began to drizzle and we decided to rest for a while and seek shelter. Time check: 3.30pm. Uh oh. We were left with 30 mins only. So we decided to backtrack - 2kms- to the starting point.

At the starting point, there's this slope where you could "observe" Mount Kinabalu. There were a few monuments and the Mount K museum on top of the slope/hill too. Farhana and I...at the top of the slope.

There was this structure/monument on top of the hill that declared Mount Kinabalu as one of the world's heritage site. Cool! There was also this mini museum, which unfortunately, we didnt go.

I love this last shot of ..er..myself. hahaha. I LOVE this shot. I was wearing a green jacket with green camou skirt and behind me was total greenery. *The irony..I hate green.* Time check: 4pm. We went down the hill and back to our cab. The cab driver had been waiting for us for 2 hours.

Mt Kinabalu.
The natives Kadazan/Dusun named it Aki Nabalu. It means 'the spirit of the dead'.

After hiking at Kinabalu Park, we finally reached town at around 1800hrs. We went back to have a quick change and when we came out, it was already dark! We went for dinner after that...KFC, again. We took a walk around the town area and hung out for a while at Tun Fuad Stephen Road…where we could see the splendid Sabah sunset (yeah..it got dark by 1830hrs)

We walked down into the hearts of the city and went to the night market. Typical night market stuff except ..damn..not many food. Anyway, I bought my fake Gucci shades and Ismail, haha, bought his standard “I Love Sabah” Tshirt. After that, we ended up in a shopping centre. Planned to watch a movie but we ended up karaoke-ing instead. It was cool. It was literally K-box..RM1 per song.

Damn squeezy but it was fun. Nazmi and Farhana could still do some dangdut (eww) moves in there. We went back at midnight.

Notice how serious and focus I looked? Well…I wasn’t actually meditating. I was actually concentrating on this:

Stupid stupid stupid Chelsea!

At around 1245hr, Nazmi came over to the girls' room to just chit-chat/bitch/play cards. Laughed so hard I couldnt get to sleep 1.5 hours later. So I tossed and turned in bed...finally to sleep at 0300+hrs.

2nd day down!

Sabah Trip Day 1 - 9th December

1115hrs: Kranji MRT

Farhana was late! She came at around 12+ and we (Ismail, Nazmi, Farhana and I) soon got onto the bus to JB. We walked to City Square and had a Swensen’s (or Season’s) lunch. At around 1400hrs we took a cab to the Senai Airport. Our flight was at 1830hrs. Naturally, we were early. So we hung out at Dunkin Donuts before check in.

Check out Mail’s gay donut!

It was chocolate mint, by the way.

At about 1745hrs, we checked in. Wow…The interior of Senai Airport was much sophisticated than the exterior. And it has cable TVs!

Okay…we got a little too carried away and were trigger-happy.

At around 1815hrs, we finally boarded Air Asia. The journey to Sabah would take us 2 hours. Air Asia was quite spacious. But my gripe is that the seats are damn uncomfortable. Oh well…budget.

We FINALLY reached Kota Kinabalu Airport Terminal 2 (catering to mostly domestic flights) at around 8.15pm. Once you collected your luggage, you went out this sliding door and voila, you're out of the building! No one checked your bags..no one checked your passport. If you have people waiting for you, they will all be outside...by the roadside. The best thing, the departure gate looks like a toilet door.

Farhana and I managed to pose at slightly dodgy airport before getting into a cab to our hotel. The cab fare from the airport cost us RM17. We stopped in front of a dingy bulding named Ang's Hotel. Eh wait, that's our hotel!

The reservations were under Ismail's name. However, no transactions were made over the net even though Ismail had given his brother's card number. Apparently, they didnt have the proper facilities to do e-transactions. Anyway, each of us paid RM67 for the 2-night accommodation.

The hotel had this damn old and rickety lift. Didnt manage to get on it because our rooms were on the second floor. Besides the lift was so small, i think it could only fit all our bags. At one corner of the lobby were many life jackets. What the hell were they for? Flood?

Our rooms were just opposites. I shared mine with Farhana obviously! Duh! The room was fine. It had cable so nothing else mattered.

After checking in, we headed for dinner. Farhana didnt like to eat at coffeeshops (she said they were dirty) and so we headed to KFC. We walked around for a while before retiring back to our room at around 11ish. Lights out soon after but i was too excited to sleep. Tossed and turned...and finally, I was saved by my dodgy MP3 players and equally dodgy songs. Time check: 0230hrs.

1 day down.
