Sabah Trip Day 3 - 11 Dec

0700hrs Kota Kinabalu

On our 3rd day at Sabah, we left Ang's hotel at about 7am because we were supposed to be at the Kuala Penyu Ferry Terminal at 9.45am. We were heading to Pulau Tiga, you see. The island was the first location for the SURVIVOR series. Obviously, it was Ismail's idea... haha that Survivor freak. Anyway, we were to spend just one night there and it cost us a whopping RM288 (right?) per person per night. That's FAR MORE EXPENSIVE than a 4-star accommodation in Kota Kinabalu.

We were told that it was hard to get a cab and that the ride would take us 2 hours. We found cab driver, Mr Amian downstairs and we asked him for the price. It was about RM150 for the journey. Mr Amian also offered to pick us up the following day, from Kuala Penyu back to Kota Kinabalu. How nice!

We reached Kuala Penyu (translation: Turtle Bay) at about 0845…a good 1 hour early. So we roamed around the dead-ish place in search for some breakfast. We saw hope in Delights CafĂ©. After that we went to the little Pulau Tiga office at the jetty to register and at 1000hrs, we boarded the speed boat (woohoo! Messy hair alert!) for a 30minute ride to Pulau Tiga.

After what seemed like a never-ending journey, we finally reached the island. There were no villages in the island. Nope, no clubs! There were 2 resorts in the island and well, it’s basically quite remote.

We were given a little briefing by our guide. Let’s call him Lazy Eddie. After that, we were given the keys to our rooms – the girls got Sting Ray and the guys got Manta Ray – and settled down. After that, we roamed around and found some interesting spots.

Yours truly, Farhana, Nazmi and Ismail...reliving our childhood days on the retro-looking swings. After this shot, i fell off the swing. I sat too far back, lost balance and did a somersault to the ground. I landed on my ass and the swing struck my forehead. i concussed for a split second. I couldnt remember being hit... but i had a HUGE swelling. Best.

After lunch (at about 2pm), we took a hike to the Mud Volcano Area. Lazy Eddie said that the route was easy so we could go on our own. I think he was just lazy to follow us. DUH. It started out easy but 5 minutes into the walk, it got tough because the slopes were slippery and muddy.

After walking for about 20 minutes in the mud, my Havaianas were beyond recognition. But I love you still, baby. Anyway, we were told that the mud was cold and therapeutic. And it was quite deep. Yeah...how deep could mud be?

Okay, the mud volcano was 4 feet deep. All of us were hesitant to go in because we felt it was gross. *We didnt want to be a block of hardened mud later* So we did the best first-thing. We painted our faces with the mud and do the Maori's kumate-kumate chant. Hahaha. Guess whose idea was it?

We slowly overcame the "fear" of getting into the mud...and proceeded into going deeper. But these pictures didn’t really show because I didn’t take any shots that showed us in the deep mud. Whatever it was, we were soon joined by some people from the other resort. So there were quite a few of us soaking in the mud a la hippopotamuses. There was this lady who saw me floating swiftly on the thick mud. She called me “Buaya!”

Oh Lord, we were disgusting! Remember Swamp Thing? We had mud in our bras, undies, in our ears, in our hair...everywhere! We didnt bring any towel, water, change of clothes.

This was the trail we took. We walked barefeet because it was too uncomfortable walking in sandals, dripping with mud. i've got cuts and scratches on my calves and feet to prove it. I felt like the jungle people...coming back from hunting.

Hahahahahahah.

We backtracked to the resort and upon arrival, jumped straight into the sea..scrubbing the bad-ass mud away and polluting the turquoise sea. After that, we went back to our room, put our stuff and then we continued with snorkelling….which was sucky because there wereno corals to see. Gah!!!

Then it was dinner time and since we had nothing to do, the guys suggested karaoke (again!). The resort had this big lounge room where lodgers could play pool and sing karaoke. Farhana and I started playing pool while the 2 guys started to sing. After a while, I joined them singing. But my repertoire for the night was all rock songs.

After hogging the place for 2 hours, we finally decided to give our lungs a break. We slowly walked to the dark jetty, talked crap and sang whatever rubbish songs that came to mind. At about 1230hrs, we went back to our rooms. Farhana fell asleep almost immediately. Me? I went over next door for a threesome.

Right.
Like Ismail would want a threesome.
Like I want a threesome with them.
Gah.

I went over to play cards…or rather, Chee bye Bluff. It was hilarious, we laughed so loud Farhana woke up and came over. But eeer, she was too late. We were about to end and Ismail wanted to sleep. So, us girls went back and then…Nazmi came over. We continued with Mak Kau Punya Puki Bluff . At about 0300hrs, when everyone retired to bed…I couldn’t sleep. My brain was still laughing.

3rd day down.
