Penasaran

Urgh!

Fancy being pissed at the father for snatching the television while I was playing Wii. I am 30 for fuck sake...I think moving out is so imminent.

Fine, call me childish.
Wii is important, okay!

The weekend, though work has been untouched, has been productive - where pleasure is concerned, at least. Yesterday, I met Liah and Nani for some karaoke in town at 1100hrs (!!) and later at 1500hrs, Lauren joined us and we caught John Cusack in HOT TUB TIME MACHINE. Stupid show but hahaha...I am all stupid, man.

After a quick dinner, I left the group and joined some colleagues at some bar nearby. I just went to "show face" and meet Arowana's new gf. After 1.5hr of very idle chatting, I grabbed JLo and A-Go-Go and got the hell out. We walked to Borders and stayed there till 2330hrs before hitting home.

Today...ah today. It's an early start as I met Liah at 1100hrs and we headed to Kranji. She wanted to go to Ivy Singh-Lim's Bollywood Veggies (her freaking farm!) and after taking the Kranji Express shuttle service, we eventually got there at 1215hrs.

As we were hungry, we went straight to the restaurant, called Poison Ivy. According to Ivy, the food comes from halal-sources but cause they serve alcohol ("poison", she says), they dont have the halal certification.

Anyway, it was a nice feeling, eating in the greenery. We had sweet potato leaves (I love that like Popeye adores spinach), fried chicken drumlets, papaya salad (yum!) and an egg-and-tofu dish. we had fresh aloe vera juice too. After stuffing ourselves silly, we still attempted their signature 'kuih koswi', 'kuih bingka' and their banana cake. Well, we didnt know when we would be there again, right?

Right.
Next week probably hahaha.

So yeah it was about 1430hrs after we finished. Yes, it was a nice, long lunch. The shuttle service just left and the next one would only be there an hour later so we checked out Ivy's sprawling farm and took photos in the scorching sun before getting on the 1530hr-shuttle.

Oh! I bought a comb of 'Praying Hand' bananas for $5 there. I didnt name them. It's really what the farm calls them.

So yeah. That's the weekend for you. It's my second trip to Kranji in freaking 2 weeks, man. Last week, together with some old students (I should call them as my friends now), we went to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve last Saturday afternoon for some muddy hike adventure. That place, hampered only by geographical distance, was fan-tastic!

I love the outdoors...what to do?
:)

P/S: Am still pissed off at the father.

Get outta my way

I am tired.

I didnt really enjoy the HK trip cause I was pre-occupied with work. I had nightmares of the boss when I was there even. I was sick when I flew over and I didnt get well when I came home. Oh well.

The brain has shut down when work-related thoughts and activities cropped up.and so I think it's time. Almost.

On a lighter note, INCEPTION and DESPICABLE ME were awesome!!

Mama say

I am back and my TMJ disorder is acting up on me again. Either that, I could be having some really aching wisdom tooth experience. I suspect the former. The dull ache in the mouth, jaw, ear, neck and head is really something.

Anyway, all these can be signs of stress. I realise how much I am beginning to dread going to office. It gives me sleepless nights, anger, anxiety and the rewards are no longer as satisfying.

It's enough.
I am tired.

P/S: World Cup finals tonight. Not an avid fan of Holland or Spain but I'm banking on Holland to win. This will be homage to ... ahem ... the Dutch bloodline in me. Darah kompeni mengalir di Betawi.

Got to run!

Boarding.

So long, bitches!

Bionic

Good morning, ya'll.

Had a rough day at work yesterday, no thanks to the Gulag. Apparently someone emailed Gulag saying I uploaded unprofessional pictures of the collegue. I was like...WTF? The person was crazy. The complainant also mentioned something about me plagiarising or using the pictures without permission.

WTF.

In the first place, those were my pictures, taken by me, of my colleagues, who were posing (nothing sexual or whatsoever, mind you) for me. The two pictures were of Ewok sitting on her chair. It may look like she was sleeping but she was just posing. Plus, even if she were sleeping, so what? There was no indication that it was in a specific work place. The other one was of her posing with a university signboard. Is that plagiarising? If that's the case, tourists uploading pictures of places of interest on their Facebook accounts should be charged too. What the fuck...these pictures are not meant for commercial purposes anyway.

So to this person...I know your name...fuck you. Apparently, your education failed to teach you what's plagiarism and most importantly, what's not your business should not be made into one. So please, eat shit and die.

Oh Gulag, fuck you too.

Woo-sah.

Got home, tired like crazy and fell asleep at about midnight. Wanted to take a nap before catching the Germs-Spain match. Overslept and only woke up during half time. Could barely stay up for the rest of the match but anyway, unbelievable. Germany, though they were okay, were not as capable as they were with Argentina and England. Maybe, the Spaniards really marked these people. Either that, the destroyer who was Mueller was not around to create more havoc. Whatever it is, Espana managed to move on and this Monday morning at an unearthly hour, they will meet the Dutch Ladies of the Netherlands in the final. Germs on the other hand, will meet Uruguay for third place. I hope Uruguay can slay those frankfurters. I'm never a fan.

Matthaus, Voeller, Beckenbauer aside of course.

Yaaaaawn.

OKay it's 0650hrs. Need to shower and hit the roads to the airport. I'll be here.

Yeah lah... Hong Kong again.
What to do, my boyfriend is there.
Right. Kid.
Actually, I'm there to study Wing Chun
Like Bruce Lee :)

Hope you have a nice day, weekend, whatever. Will be back on Sunday afternoon.

P/S: Gulag, I hope you get knock down while you're crossing the road.

Sleep of the just

Hey,

I am still alive.

Last week had been crazy - going hospital to and fro, marking assignments, meetings, World Cup, while trying to squeeze in some a little joy because all of us had a pay increment (no matter how little). Didnt get promoted this time round but it's okay. Next time. Plus, I think I didnt well enough.

Heck.
We're never good enough here.

The father is okay now though the doctors couldnt fathom what was the cause of his high fever. Maybe he had consumed something which didnt go down well on Saturday. What has been happening...hmmm...ah my dear Argentina are out of the World Cup. Bloody shit. Did you see the match? The Germans ...they were on crack, lah! That bloody Mueller wow..he's a freaking blitzkrieg there.

So now, there are only 4 - Espana, Germany, Holland and Uruguay. I am neither a fan of the Spanish nor the German team so of course my preference would like in either Holland or Uruguay. It's a pity that these 2 have to fight each other tonight. Sad to see either one of them not progressing but oh well, my head says that Germany will win this war. Ja ja ja. this might be their year. Simply wunderbar, Heidi Klum...Inglorious basterds.

Okay. The brain has gone way off.
I am actually not feeling well.
Think lack of sleep has finally sunk in.

This Thursday, I will be off to Hong Kong for a little rest. I hope I get rest. Sometimes I wonder what am I thinking? People dont go overseas to rest, they go overseas to get even more tired out. There hasnt been a vacation where I come home feeling like I have been physically rejuvenated. Mentally and spiritually yes, but never physically. Flight travels seem to do that to you, yeah? All those time you spent lazing in Perth, Siem Reap, Kashmir, New York and Manchester...gone just when you step into the plane for your journey home.

Where was I?
Ah, Hong Kong.

Yes, I plan to get me some rest but I dont think Lauren and Pam (her cousin) would just want to vegetate. For sure they might want to roam around and stuff. Let's see. If it needs to be, I have to do the 'break-away' thing. I just want to sleep. Please?

The new school term started yesterday and as expected, I have two Business classes to teach. The first session was yesterday in the afternoon...drained the bejeezus out of me. Stayed late, had late dinner, got home late, feeling the pits and for some strange reasons, I felt a really strong need to scrub my bathroom floor at midnight. Was at it for one hour and then I cleared my room, my bed and my wardrobe. By the time I was done, it was almost 0400hrs.

And 5 hours later, I was at work. Natural to say, I am currently extremely extremely slee..zzzzzzzz.

Bloodlines

Although I just feel like throwing my shoes at Kristen Stewart (Bella..ptui!) whenever she appears on screen, Sha, Lauren and I have already bought the tickets to watch ECLIPSE this Thursday.

Team Jacob...but seriously, we know the ending.
It doesnt matter, does it.
Pooi!

I was searching; you were on a mission,
Then our hearts combined like a neutron star collision,
I had nothing left to lose, you took your time to choose
Then we told each other with no trace or fear that

Our love would be forever
And if we die, we die together
and lie, I said never
Cause our love, would be forever

The world is broken, and halos fail to glisten
We try to make a difference but, no one wants to listen
Hell the preachers Fake and proud, there answering will be cloud
Then they'll disappear like snowflakes in an ocean

Love is forever
And we'll die, we'll die together
and lie, I said never
Cause our love, can be forever

Now, I've got nothing left to lose, you take your time to choose,
I can tell you now without a trace of fear that

My Love, will be forever
And we'll die, we'll die together
And live, I will never
Cause our love, will be forever

P/S: The father is still hospitalised and doctors still havent figured out what caused the fever and chest infection. I am tired. That's all.

Love is forever

It's slightly past 5am and I am about to go to bed. After the disastrous England-Germany match at midnight, I decided to do my assignment marking. Expectedly, I fell asleep before I could take the sheets out of the bed. Still, I managed to set a 0230hr alarm for the Argentina-Mexico match before I passed out.

1.5hrs later the mother woke me up and said the father's fever was getting very bad. He had been sick for 2 days but at 0130hrs just now, he was barely coherent and was shivering badly. The mother wanted me to call the ambulance..or the uncles...whoever who got a car to help. I was like..."Why? Don't bother people..we can take a cab!"

After some commotion at void deck (father could still scold us in his incoherent state), we got into a cab at 0215hrs and headed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The match too had started ...

...what? It's Argentina!

Anyway, while the mother waited outside, I accompanied the father for the various checks and I think the doctor said he got a high fever and some chest infection. He was pushed to a waiting room, waiting to be warded. The nurses said I could go home. They would inform me when he's eventually warded. We'll see how long.

The whole ordeal lasted 93mins. Just when the football match ended, we left the A&E.

I think the mother lacks a caring bone in her body. Either that, she is someone with a sense of tough love. At one point, she even suggested that I go hospital with the father while she stayed at home to sleep. She didnt look concerned at the hospital and continued chiding him for not taking care of himself. She went out the whole of Sunday knowing that he was sick. Scolded the father for not taking his meds when she got back. Argh!! The parents so deserved each other.

Pity the kids for not having enough love and concern in our lives. Pity us fools!

Hah.
Drama.

Okay. I have 2.5hrs to sleep before I meet the heartless office Hitler. I really hate my life right now.

Greensleeves

The Legend Is Born:Ip Man may be inferior in quality to some but I like the message (yes, I seek messages sometimes) behind because it runs in my ... ahem ... blood. We should change to fit times and we shouldnt be restricted by traditions.

My only grouse is when Ip Man goes to Hong Kong, why is it still in Mandarin? Change to Cantonese lah!!

I hate watching HK movies in Singapore sometimes because I want to hear Cantonese language being spoken. At least give me the option to listen to their original language at certain theatres. Why can the French, Italian, Polish, Swahili, what-have-yous films be screened in their native languages and not HK films?

Ah...because Singaporean Chinese speak Mandarin?
How shallow.
Grr.

I think I need to get that wooden device where they practise they Wing Chun.

But I think, I will have better luck just getting this instead.

2 words: Jayden Smith

P/S: In the Ip Man show, they use 'Greensleeves' as a narrative device. That tune has always been my classic melancholic vehicle. So, yeah...that movie may be crappy as hell to some, but I was emotionally attached. Yes, I'm such a drama queen.

Relapse

Oh for the love of God, it's so nice to lie down.

I just got home...after close to 10 hours slogging meself at work. Best thing...I still brought back shitloads of crap home. Puta.

The week has been one crazy bitch. I have one dramatic issue regarding a student and my superiors but the latter pulled me into the fray, implicated me. I feel like the much-maligned World Cup Jabulani ball...used, abused, kicked, punched, volleyed but seldom appreciated.

So yeah, that issue, more academic issues, university partners and ISO audit stress, marking period...I am so tired thinking.

Okay it's beginning to depress the shit out of me. Am going to get some shut-eye before the World Cup match later between Uruguay and South Korea. Team Urugyay on this.

Yaaawn.

Never say never

Just a quick note to say that the last 3 films that I saw were awesome. The A-Team could be horrific for all I care but it went "up there" thanks to its nostalgic quotient. The only downside? Jessica bloody Biel.

The producers could have taken Fann Wong or Norfasarie for all I care and I think they could be better...a pleasant sight for sore eyes. Biel depressed the screen, man.

The Karate Kid
was another awesome one, though a tad draggy at the start. I really dont understand why they just cant change the title to The Black Gongfu Kid but oh well, your movie, your title. Fine.

Jayden Smith is cute but I can imagine his brat level is hitting the roof. Jackie Chan..well, his nose is still too bigh. Pfft.

And finally..ah.. Toy Story 3. Loves. Nothing else to say except thank god for the long ending credits. Otherwise, I would have gone home red-eyed.

Woody is love.

Paranaue

If you're once a sports junkie like me (and I stressed 'once') who had gone into semi-retirement, you would think that you can just bounce back into the game. Afterall, you have the spirit and impossible is nothing. Well, screw you Adidas.

As it was too hot to do anything outside and I'm not the sort who likes to be caged in a gym, I decided to do a little D-I-Y and pick up a skill or two from youtube and out of all the shit that is there, I chose capoeira.

Got some easy steps down pat. I did attempt some lame flips (barely got off the ground) but I think I must have overdone it cause I think I pulled a hamstring.

See...never attempt this without proper guidance and a good warm up.

...limp.

Push

Had the most exciting WC match and ironically, I only managed to watch (or rather, read) it online.

The game between Argentina and South Korea has just ended..4-1 to ARgentina. Maybe they can really win this tournament and I can make money out of it, thanks to the illegal betting pool at work.

Damn work.

Sabai sabai

My Thai student introduced this to me and though I hated it (the MTV especially), it got stuck in my head this morning...the moment I woke up. It's excruciating.

Now let me share this with you.
Pain must be shared.

God bless.

Replay

Normal excuse?

Been very occupied and tired. Work is a crazy piece of shit as usual and, for the love of the waka waka vuvuzelas, the World Cup is here!

Breaking away from my usual Brazil/Italy favourites, this round I'm gunning for Argentina/Holland. Argentina, to me, have a complete squad with a lethal Messi to up the ante. And yes, I like Maradona so say whatever you want, I am still a supporter. As for Holland - post-Gullit and van Basten - they were never my favourite but I think they have a good team this round. Or at least, I am liking the batch of Dutch players.

Yes.
Robben and van Persie included.

And oh, underdog-wise, I am hoping Ivory Coast can do an upset. Many good players there and I am not even sure if they qualify as underdogs. Drogba is a superd(r)og, lah!

Lame.

You know, 4 years ago, during the last World Cup, I was working at Singapore Pools with Shu Xiang and Adrian. I was there almost everyday and was earning shitloads (for picking up calls at least). Of course I didnt see the sun, coming home at almost dawn, sleeping the whole day and then in the evening I'd go to Selegie to start my shift.

The job was ... weird. I cited the costs of the odds, collected all sorts of football bets and watched the matches at the same time. We were not allowed to read or use our handphones and if our favourite teams were playing, we were not allowed to show a lot of excitement.

It would have been great if the matches had big-name teams but imagine having to sit through a Togo or Costa Rica match and the only familiar face was the Singaporean referee Shamsul Maidin. Mak kau...rasa bodoh siak!

But ah, Singapore Pools paid damn well for a stupid job like that. I remember 3/4 into the World Cup, I got a job down at Discovery Channel. And that's when I befriended Hira (!!). Yes it has been 4 years. I also remembered being molested at the park near the office but...damn, I'll recap that next time.

Where was I?
Oh yeah Discovery Channel.

My job was to do some scheduling and after a week, it got repetitive. Though the money was good (it paid me more than my editing job down at ShitNPee), the location was a bitch (Changi Business Park) and I had a problem with staying indoors and being on my ass for 8 hours. Not only that, I was juggling writing freelance for 2 architectural and design trade magazines, Singapore Pools and then Discovery Channel. During the first few days at Discovery, I clocked in barely 2 hours of sleep, man. That was so fucked.

I quit Singapore Pools 1-2 matches shy from completing the season. I was like a freaking zombie, running between AMK, Changi and Selegie. Even the Starbucks staff down at the Cathay told me get some sleep. Another reason was that I wanted to watch the finals in peace, or at least, by not having to work. So yeah. I left. I didnt stay at Discovery long too. After 2+ months, I left to do relief teaching. That's another story.

Wow. Look how far we've come, Ed. 4 years ago, I left ShitNPee, ran to West Timor, went back to Perth, climbed a mountain and river rafted in Taman Negara, did well in freelance writing, Singapore Pools, Discovery Channel and then relief teaching at a secondary school. Earned money, lost money and eventually, living from hand to mouth. So erratic...so exciting. 2006 was the year, man.

Let's see if things are as exciting this time round.

I'll sleep when I'm dead

It's 0630hrs and yes...finally got around to catching the last few eps of GA. I am saving the finale for next time, though. Next time when the sun is not about to rise.

Somehow, I liken this entry to drunk-dialling.
But the thing is...I'm not drunk.
And neither am I dialling.

See?

That's why I dread watching it. It messes my head. And yet, I will eventually come crawling, begging for more; sitting through hours of it in one go. If I am not a masochist, I cant think of anything else which will befit.

We are all such jerks.
All of us.
Fuck this shit.
I'm done.

P/S: The first yawn!
