Q'Orianka Kilcher, Choi Ji Woo, Andie MacDowell, Mira Sorvino,
Lisa Snowdon, Angelina Jolie, Miriam Yeung, Rachelle Ann Go

HAHAHAHAHAHHA *cough*rollonthefloor*HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!

Unbelievable…let’s do one more.

Q'Orianka Kilcher, Michelle Kwan, Maggie Cheung, Sammi Cheng
Kim Tae Hee, Rachelle Ann Go, Sun Ye-Jin. Barack Obama (?????)

Q'Orianka, Sarah Geronimo (?), Maggie Cheung, Jolin Tsai,
Tiger Woods (what!), Kim Rae Won, Jung Chang (?), Brenda Song (?)

Hmmm....I think it is safe to say that I (hahahahahaha) look like Q'Orianka Kilcher...whom by the way, acted as Pocahontas in A Brave New World with Colin Farrell.

Beats me too!!!

Hahaha.

Awrite. Going to meet Meiling at AMK Hub soon. She has got preview tickets to catch Surf's Up at the new Cathay. Woohoo!

Later!

###

Adios Senor Beckham...mucho gracias!

David Beckham got substituted and his substitutee scored the equaliser. Not once, but twice Jose Antonio Reyes did score. Arsenal lost a really great budding player and Wenger should hit his head with a stale French baguette and then jump down the London bridge.

Aye me…la cucaracha.

Real Madrid wins the La Liga, Tom Cruise looks like a freaking Flamenco freak at Bernabeu, Katie Holmes is too thin, Rafael Nadal looks like an oily Dracula and David Beckham gets a souvenir to commemorate his almost useless 4 years in Madrid and will most likely convert to Scientology soon. It's going to be adios tapas...and howdy buffalo wings (err..in Los Angeles).

Hmm.
All’s well ends well, no?

Sleep.

P/S: Never mind Barcelona. Next season…next season.

P/P/S: No...didnt see Nani flashing her boobs.

Golden Balls' Skorpion sting

Am being attacked by the 2nd cycle of adolescence. I have the hots for something so..so..juve.

Oh yeah! Sweet babies!

Oh man, these are the Skorpion skates and the sister, who is currently working at SkateShop down at East Coast, says they are quite a monster. Think I will look like I have those Tamiya cars on my feet. How cool is that!

Damn.
I want them Skorpion skates!
They are multi-terrain...that means I can skate in the park in front of my house!

Sheesh.

Am waiting for the Real Madrid/Mallorca match. Wonder if Beckham is playing his last match and wonder if Real Madrid will win the title of being Spain’s best. Of course deep down I am rooting for Rodent (aka Ronaldinho) and Gang of Barcelona to win. But it will be sweet for Beckham to win something with Real Madrid. Man…and I don’t even like him.

Right.
Deep down…I am sure everyone wants Beckham to succeed.
Come on, admit it!

Anyhow, will scrutinise the screen later. Maybe I can see Nani and Andrew at Bernabeu. Lao Lee said maybe Nani might flash her boobs on screen. Lao Lee must be green with envy cause she is not able to do that.

Mwahahahaha...dont think this will happen at Bernabeu!

This definitely “heighten” your senses on this dreary blue Monday!

Wicked.

A thousand times goodnights, flower-power hippie zombies!

P/S: Ed, YOU BLOODY NEED TO WRITE THE MOVIE REVIEW… PRONTO!!!

P/P/S: Oh the Night Safari trip was a blast. I had fun...especially at the ..erm..bat enclosure. A Bruce Wayne moment definitely.

Damn...or be damned

The new Ang Mo Kio Hub's Cathay cineplex is now open and there is no movies that I want to watch...or haven't seen before.

To top it off, Eng Wah Jubilee is having a delicious promotion where tickets are sold at the price of a McDonald's meal (or cheaper!) but..but..but...I have seen all the shows featured.

Shite.

I really need to get away from the silver screen, away from the reel world and get a grip on the real one.

Yeah, right.

Make me.

P/S: Had a nasty nightmare where I had my hair cut short by a rude heartlandic ah soh hairdresser. I looked like I was wearing a helmet...or a broom.

Fantastic Four Singing Monkeys

Am at Ah Lau's and she, Lauren and Clara are singing away in the living room...courtesy of Ah Lau's spanking new karaoke set. Oh did I mention that it's 0200hrs now? Hah, hope Ah Lau's neighbours like Mayday, SHE and Stefanie Sun.

Caught Fantastic Four just now. It's campy, kitschy and all, but I think it is awrite. And erm...I know I have grown up when Mr Fantastic is more my cup of tea than Pyro Torch. Heh.

Why are the characters always turn to their left/right and not looking in front??

FANTASTIC 4: The Rise of the Silver Surfer is (duh) the sequel to 2005’s Fantastic 4. I remember watching it with Nani. She didn’t like it, I think. But I found it awrite..mediocre, I guess. So, I wasn’t prepared for anything and my expectations were zilch when I watched this.

The uncomfortable seat at Lido 7 pissed me off and the tall, fidgety man in front of me didn’t make it any better. Leaving the two jokers behind, I shifted to the front once F4 started.

The show is campy and cheesy but hey, I am not complaining. It is Stan Lee’s …so yeah. It is not the best superhero-show I’ve ever seen but oh well…it does have its retro humour to me. I don’t know why but throughout the show, I had this niggling feeling that I was watching The Jetsons.

I like Elroy!

Anyway...
Yeah beats me.
Maybe it’s the family-space thing.

Anyway F4:TRotSS is cool. Mr Fantastic is fine. My grouse is Jessica Alba looks sickly with blonde hair (hey she’s still hot…just sckly) and The Thing is not very “active” here. Maybe due to the time constraint. Pppffft.

..
..

Oh good news!

The book is out! The book is out! The book is out!
The book is out! The book is out! The book is out!

The author sms-ed me and told me that he would have a copy mailed to me next week. I hope I wont find any grammatical or spelling error. I will..I will... smack my head with a dictionary and sleep with it under my pillow. Oh, the horror.

Okay, they are still singing.
Hah, we need some xiao jie...you know..those hostesses and Ah Lau's place will be great for the Ah Pek ktv. There's alcohol, sofa and err...hamsters.

Okay I am not making sense. Shall go eat ice cream.

Tats.

P/S: It's Father's Day and I havent gotten anything. Humph.

In the summertime when the weather is fine

I am obsessed with this new tune. It sounds so summery…so cheery…so Caribbean. I want to screw getting a new job and go on a holiday again.

Hah.
Yeah, right.

Till then, I shall paint me a beautiful remote beach…golden sand, palmy silhouette, cute huts and maybe, caipirinha. Oh, and this song definitely.

But tonight, I have to make do with a night out with the beasts. And I didn’t mean Jason Woo.

To the Night Safari, ya’ll.

“You’re way too beautiful girl
That’s why it’ll never work
You’ll have me suicidal, suicidal
When you say it’s over
Damn all these beautiful girls
They only wanna do your dirt
They’ll have you suicidal, suicidal
When they say it’s over”

That’s for you, babirusa.

P/S: Will figure out the link later.

Going to the chapel and we're gonna get... naked

Ed: It has begun
Clara: What?
Ed: I was having dinner with the mother just now and she asked, “When are you getting married?”
Clara: Oh no…
Ed: Yeah she added “Your Uncle XX also asked me when are you gonna get married.”
Clara: Aiyah don’t care about all the uncles and aunties.
Ed: Yeah I know. But ah, it has begun. The questionings, the probing.
Clara: Then what are you going to tell them?
Ed: I told the mother I don’t know.
Clara: Is that all?
Ed: Then? Tell her that I am actually a lesbian?
Clara: Huh…no lah.
Ed: Oh well..I’ll just tell them to shut up the next time.
Clara: That works?
Ed: Think it will. When I say shut up, they will shut up.

*cross fingers..eyes..tongue*

The mother is having her one week break and therefore I have been seeing a lot of her. Not that it’s bad, but she being at home means there is food 24/7. And no….i cant lose weight when she is around. She will wake me up for no reason cause she is just darn buay song to see me sleep. But mother…sleep means no eating. And I have no pressing reason to wake up!

Grrr.

The mother is satisfied to see me getting out of bed…only to fall asleep in front of the telly in the living room. Or when I get out of bed and straight to the computer..or food.

Like that also happy.

Like that also have the cheek to ask when am I getting married.

When cows turn purple and churn out lassi straight from its udder, can?

A thousand times goodnight, aisle-and-altar deprived people.

P/S: What a totally meaningless Thursday had I.

Gone snooping

Oh man.
It is almost night already.
Where did the day go to?

Am reading my students' blogs. Illegally, of course. Anyway, for doing that, I am rewarded with a brewing headache. The generation gap is huge. I cannot understand what the hell they are saying. The kids tYPe liKE Dis nnd ii cAnNt UNndErstaNnd wAd DEr hElL deY R saYiNg :(

And oh, I cant quite make out what language they are using. It's bad Mandarin, Malay and Hokkien. Even the old coffeeshop Ah Beng will shake his head and be appalled.

Oh well.

Shall go and snoop around some more.

Constable Acai gone shooting

Drinking water to stay thin
Or is it to purify
I love you all the same

But there's no - no real truce with my fury
You don't have to believe me
I love you all the same
(You Stole The Sun From My Heart, MSP)

The mother dragged me all the way to VivoCity and the only place we shopped at were Giant Supermarket (again? 2 days running!) and Daiso. Came back with a lot of unnecessary nonsense from Daiso. I swear that place is evil. So many useless things that humans can do without.

But…ah, since I was there, I bought *ahem* gnome.
Not 1…
But 2 bloody garden gnomes.
And I don’t even have a garden!!

That is unless you consider the tropical rainforest outside my house as a bonafide garden.

Been wanting to have gnomes.
Had been eyeing them since my Perth-ian days.

Reached home at 1800hrs and made a quick dash to the loo before running out again to town to meet Clara. I had another movie to review at Shaw Centre. Was dreading it and wasn’t interested to cover it. But 90minutes later, boy…I was glad that I made the effort. The show was brilliant!

EYE IN THE SKY (GUN CHUNG) is one of the best Chinese movies I have ever seen. It is so simple and yet oh-so-good. Starring Tony Leung Ka-Fai, Simon Yam, Kate Tsui and Maggi Siu, this police and heist story didn’t sound appealing to me at all initially because:

(a) I don’t like HK police movies because they are usually unrealistic

(b) I don’t like Mr Yam very much cause I think he is too ugly to be a hero

(c) This is a debut for director Yau Nai-Hoi and I am wary of debutants

(d) Who the hell is Kate Tsui???

(e) I don’t like Cantonese movies dubbed into Mandarin (not authentic, dah! This is HK leh!

(f) I will find problems finding pictures for my post-movie review

But, just like Daiso stocked with unnecessary items, I was unnecessarily worried for no reason.

(a) EITS is not like a typical HK crime movie. There’s no shooting (ok..not many at least), no phony stunt actions and no alpha-male-ism. One thing, there is no love relationships going on in-between scenes and that is a HUGE plus. The plot is very clever and well it is so simple you will hit your own head as to why you haven’t dreamt of such plot before.

(b) Mr Yam has aged. And since he is acting his age and not playing some punkass of a young hero wannabe, he is such a joy to watch. I cant believe that I almost had a nervous breakdown during the show when (spoiler alert!) he got stabbed by the baddie.

(c) Rubbish. Yau Nai-Hoi’s work is brilliant. Shooting on busy streets in HK is a nightmare. Shooting on vehicles on busy streets in HK is worst. But he did it oh so brilliantly. I am so excited to check out all the locations when I get there next month!

(d) I don’t care. She is good.

(e) Well..it was a downer. But I got sucked into the plot to care. Would have preferred watching it in Cantonese still.

(f) The organisers gave me a CD filled with movie pictures. Doesn’t matter now cause am too lazy to upload.

My “date” likes it too. In fact, I think she likes it better than I do. She was holding her sushi and crying at the same time when Ah Yam got stabbed. When EITS ended, she grabbed my hand and thanked me profusely for bringing her.

And oh, have I mentioned that she is a big fan of Ah Yam?
Yeah…beats me.

Oh well.

Maybe you may not like it.
Maybe you have higher expectations as to how a good movie should be.
But ah, to me, EYE IN THE SKY is certainly one of the best I’ve seen recently. If it beats Pirates Of The Caribbean 3 and Ocean’s 13, I bet you must have an idea on how good it is.

A thousand times goodnight, agent provocateurs.

P/S: Even rottentomatoes.com gave EITS an 8/10.

P/P/S: I bloody better stop gushing about this and go to sleep.

..

..

P/P/P/S: I want to be a cop!!

Marking my Turf

Did the "only-child" thing (haha) and accompanied the parents to Turf City to buy groceries at Giant's. Woah happy...running up and down the aisle as if I was playing with imaginary friends. Was happily poking fishes, trying out ice cream and trying out talcum powder. Oh yes... and breaking chocolate bars.

Childish, I know.

It is almost 0200hrs. Think I watch some MTVs or a DVD.

A thousand times goodnight, audio and technophiles.

In cold blood at dawn

Ed: So I read in the advertisement…you were also looking for someone who knows blogging…
Man: Oh yeah, we have to browse blogs and lookout if our clients are featured and stuff.
Ed: Oh, I see. Do you also do it to share information with clients ..things like that?
Man: Oh no..we don’t do that. Hmm…you don’t blog do you?

Noooo…you don’t say.

The place

Had an interview somewhere near Ann Siang Hill. It turned out fine until the man asked when I could start work. Told him 1st week of July was hard but he said “Oh dear. That can be a problem cause the staff is leaving on that week. But…well…you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”

And with that…I think I can safely say that what I have to do now is to find another job. It’s okay. God works in mysterious ways. And nah…I shall not forfeit the Hong Kong trip. Yes, I have my priorities screwed up like that.

After the interview, I decided to take a walk around Ann Siang/Tanjong Pagar area. I remember I loved doing that with Lao Lee when we were *ahem* much younger and freer. Anyway, the heel-ed feet were beginning to get achy and the toes were developing blisters. God, no…..

Two more..adding to the sliced thumb.

Took a train down to Orchard and decided to go to Borders. Was planning to catch a movie at Cineleisure at about 1730hrs and since it was only 1600hrs, I decided to do a bit of reading. Well….Victoria Beckham’s That Extra Half An Inch caught my eyes.

By the way..the title is referring to heels.

Not a bad book, actually.
VB has humour and her words *surprise surprise* do make sense.
Respect!

'I've always been a girls' girl. And I know from experience that making the very best of yourself is something any woman can do. I was never the six-foot-tall pin-up. I've always been the girl-next-door who got lucky. I've come a long way in the last ten years, but this book isn't my attempt to tell you what or what not to do. It's just to share some of what I've learned.' - Victoria Beckham

No..at $50+ it is still too much to indulge on.
So like other self-respecting cheapos, I read it till the end, free of charge, thank you.

At about 1700hrs, I hobbled to Cineleisure. I wanted to catch Infamous and when I checked the timing again (I saved it in my phone), I realised it was 1710hrs…and not 1730hrs. Bloody hell. Managed to reach Cineleisure at about 1715hrs (What? Them feet hurt! Real bad!) and missed a bit off the beginning. Still, no biggie.

Been wanting to catch this.
Bloody blisters couldn’t stop me.

Stars galore…Daniel Craig, Isabella Rossellini, Sigourney Weaver, Jeff Daniels, Gwyneth Paltrow, Toby Jones and oh..Sandra Bullock!

INFAMOUS is a damn good show. Yes, it is almost the same as last year’s Capote but oh, this is better. Toby Jones, to me, makes a better Truman Capote as he portrays the flamboyance and the effervescence better than Seymour-Hoffman.

“So you think your book is worth a human life?” Marella Agnelli

Capote’s character speaks better in Infamous. That makes it better for the audience cause it definitely helps to hear and understand what the actor is saying. Although the movie Capote has subtlety, Infamous is grittier and mostly funnier. Unlike Capote…where the crime is given more emphasis, in Infamous, it is the relationship between death-row-bound Perry Smith (Daniel Craig looking like Lou Diamond Philip here) and Capote that runs the plot.

Anyway I truly enjoyed INFAMOUS and as much as I hoped to have company with me so that we could bask in the clever repartee between Capote and friends, I was glad I dragged meself to the cinema alone, blisters and all. It is definitely one of the best shows I have seen so far this year and I know I wont forgive myself if I had given it a miss. Yes it is that good.

To me, at least.

In INFAMOUS, it is mentioned that a bit of a writer dies whenever he/she comes up with a work. As a writer always gives his all to his work, it seems that a bit of him dies or diminishes….being consumed by the work done. That got me thinking.

I must have died a long time ago.
Hahaha.

Oh well. Funny that I pride myself as a writer when I only have this blog as a “masterpiece”. INFAMOUS inspires me to write a book. But I cant seem to lay a finger to any title, plot, genre or language. I would love to re-live my scripwriting days back in poly…but somehow, I havent got the inspiration.

Oh well.

Back then, my lecturer Ken Burslem had requested for a weekly progress. Being the good nerdy student that I was, I stuck to the deadline given. I guess to me…discipline does play a part in being inspired. Man..I need to be disciplined now. Somebody? Anybody?

Heh.
Crappity crap.

Shambled to John Little at the Specialist’s Centre after the movie cause I needed to get shampoo. The $10 voucher Ah Lau gave me came in real handy. Of course, the Great Singapore Sale was a real bonus too. Don’t we all love the month of June in Singapore?

Don’t we?
Don’t we?

Receive an sms invitation from Noreen while I was browsing through shampoo bottles. She invited the gurlies over to her new place. I limped to the MRT…to home and was so so so relieved to have my feet free from they suffering. Took a quick bite and a much needed shower and then headed down to meet Liah and Weiling before heading over to Noreen’s.

Didn’t take any pictures there..silly me. But will definitely do so next time. Noreen, your house is superbly cosy and chic and I can only sigh in envy. Hahahaha.

Hey, girls, I foresee a new hangout place in Ang Mo Kio!

Awrite.
Sleep.

A thousand times goodnight, blistered writers who died for their art.

P/S: Nothing. Forgotten.

SpongeBob in Crabby Patty Fanta-sea

Sunday was supposed to be spent fondue-ing at Sharinah’s. But the previous night’s Shrek-ing and sexcapade escapade proved a bit too tiring. So I decided to stay at home.

Right.

At 1530hrs, Ah Lau arranged for a meal out with Lao Lee. The destination? That famous crab place in front of the alma mater. Yeah, the one with the infamous queue…Mellben Seafood.

The place.

Lao Lee, Ah Lau and I reached at around 1715hrs and yeah…it was pretty early for dinner, even more so considering I had ..err..brunch at 1500hrs. However, it had to be done in order to beat the crowd. There was already a queue forming when we got to our seats. It was my first time there. Quite amazed that a humble coffeeshop in Ang Mo Kio could garner such an attention.

Respect, Mellben. Represent!

We ordered man tous (fried buns), chilli crab and the famous crab bee hoon. Waited quite a while for the food. As I was twiddling my thumbs, I turned to other tables and saw some spectacular sights.

Thought to meself…woah, this is going to be good.
So I waited…and waited…and waited.
Waited from being not hungry…
..to being crazy and almost dying of anticipation.
The food came.
Eventually.

Heaven in a pair of pincers!

We broke into sporadic silence as each devoured crab meat…after crab meat.. after crab meat. The man tous dipped into the chili gravy was delicious too. I got so excited, engrossed and barbaric at the same time. So much so that I sliced my thumb. But ah, just sucked out the blood (it tasted yummy with chili anyway) and hey, continued crabbing.

Thank you Ah Lau for the Burnol and plaster.

Oh yes, we did cook up a bloody big mess and urgh..tab.
$70+ in total. Yes, Ed. So much for curbing. Am broke now. Again.
But it was oh-so-bloody worth it.

In fact I woke up on Monday pining for more crabs.

Then I had to jab my sliced finger to stop the alarming clock from ringing. That kind of reminded me that crabbing could be painful.

Painful but oh so orgasmic.

Hmmm…that sounds like some people having sex for the first time.
