The Taking of Pelham 123 was a-okay. Plot-wise, it sucks bad lime but if you were to look at the pacing and the acting, it is actually quite kick-ass. This time round, I must applaud...not the director... but the editor. The editor manages to make a dour, predictable offering into something with a little pizzaz.
As for John Travolta and Denzel Washington ... well...the reasons why they are being cast is probably because the producers know that in order to sell a crappy story, you need a strong cast. Denzel can never do any wrong and Travolta...well, he's one of the most powerful men in the business (he is, trust me). Denzel will never die (as he is most of the time..always the hero) and as for Travolta, he is always the best anti-hero around. Because of that, he is loved. This story has no human antagonist. i think the non-physical antagonist here is Time.
....which everyone doesnt seem to have.
Transformers, tonight.
P/S: It's sad when I can have a more stimulating mental conversation with the mise-en-scene on screen than with a normal human being.
