Hu Hu Hugo

I watched Hugo just now...a sneak preview.

It's awesome.

It made me miss teaching film studies.

Is it a sign?

P/S: This is definitely my choice of favourite film for Oscar's. Shall revise.

Whole lotta phooey

The night cant get any worse.

I am doubting myself. It's my fault. I'm not working hard enough.

And it's a sinking feeling I cannot shake off.

8 months and I am not getting any better.

Think she must be thinking that I'm incapable, inefficient and just plain stupid.

Maybe I am.

This is killing me.

The passing

Whitney was not my first choice of singers but you cannot deny, her songs mark the 80s and 90s...and those were the years I've grown to love (more of the latter). So, like it or not, there's always nostalgia when it comes to Whitney.

So...thank you for the music, Whitney.
Thank you.

I know that when you look at me
There's so much that you just don't see
But if you would only take the time
I know in my heart you'd find

A girl who's scared sometimes
Who isn't always strong
Can't you see the hurt in me?
I feel so all alone

I want to run to you (oooh)
I want to run to you (oooh)
Won't you hold me in your arms
And keep me safe from harm

I want to run to you (oooh)
But if I come to you (oooh)
Tell me, will you stay
Or will you run away

Each day, each day I play the role
Of someone always in control
But at night I come home and turn the key
There's nobody there, no one cares for me

What's the sense of trying hard to find your dreams
Without someone to share it with
Tell me what does it mean?

I want to run to you (oooh)
I want to run to you (oooh)
Won't you hold me in your arms
And keep me safe from harm

I want to run to you (oooh)
But if I come to you (oooh)
Tell me, will you stay
Or will you run away
Run away...

I need you here
I need you here to wipe away my tears
To kiss away my fears
If you only knew how much...

Thank you for the music.

Due to Whitney Houston's passing, the mood is a weird mash of sombre and celebration. Bruno Mars did a great performance, though.

As for the results, I am good with the nominees cause there's no Madonna. So yeah..hope Bruno win something.

Okay back to the show.

My eyes

...are swollen.

I caught the 12.20pm screening of 'Tree Of Life' at Lido just now and for the love of me, the show struck a chord so deep I jus saw that throughout the movie and cried.

For almost 2 hrs (was still all right at the beginning), I watched and I wept. I wept so hard my gums ached, my shirt was soaked, my neck was drenched and my nose blocked. Even had difficulty breathing.

And worse...I had to control so hard not to just bawl loudly. My lips were quivering holding the cries.

Such dramatic reaction...and I couldnt fathom it.

This has got to be my most emotional film.

Damn you, Terrence Malick.

Don't make me close one more door

Woke up from Gladys' whatsapp message all the way from chilly Canada.

Whitney Houston's gone :(

Share my life, take me for what I am
'Cause I'll never change all my colors for you
Take my love, I'll never ask for too much
Just all that you are and everything that you do

I don't really need to look very much further
I don't want to have to go where you don't follow
I won't hold it back again, this passion inside
I can't run from myself, there's nowhere to hide

Don't make me close one more door
I don't wanna hurt anymore
Stay in my arms if you dare
Or must I imagine you there
Don't walk away from me
I have nothing, nothing, nothing
If I don't have you

You see through, right to the heart of me
You break down my walls with the strength of your love
I never knew love like I've known it with you
Will a memory survive, one I can hold on to

I don't really need to look very much further
I don't want to have to go where you don't follow
I won't hold it back again, this passion inside
I can't run from myself, there's nowhere to hide
Your love I'll remember forever

Oh, don't make me close one more door
I don't wanna hurt anymore
Stay in my arms if you dare
Or must I imagine you there
Don't walk away from me
I have nothing, nothing, nothing

Don't make me close one more door
I don't wanna hurt anymore
Stay in my arms if you dare
Or must I imagine you there
Don't walk away from me, no
Don't walk away from me

Don't you dare walk away from me
I have nothing, nothing, nothing
If I don't have you, you
If I don't have you, oh you

...this has always been my favourite. Thank you for the music, Ms Houston.

Ugly but beautiful

A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely. ~Roald Dahl

I hope you are right, Mr Dahl. Otherwise, I really cant justify these teeth, chins and this bulbous nose.

###

Why do you do that?

I don't have to know.

Under the Tuscan sun

Though I hate burning myself under the blistering sun in the name of leisure, I kind of miss the feeling of having a slight tan derived from hours of swimming and snorkeling in the sea (oh South China Sea how I miss you!). The last time I did that was when I was in Phuket, almost 12 months ago. So many things happened then - left old job, started new one, made new friends, got a year older.

Why the affinity to water...beats me.
I'm a Malay...maybe the fisherman spirit is strong deep within.
I don't know.
Hahaha.

Doubt I'll be making many trips this year, unless they happened real last minute or somebody is paying me to do it a.k.a. work junket trip. I'm saving the moolah for Italy, scheduled in September. Planning it, or rather, just thinking about it is giving me jitters cause it sounds epic to me. You know me. Planning a holiday itinerary is never my thing. That's why I need travel companion/s to do it. Then, I'll get pissed cause it will then become just their programme anyway (no, not you, Lauren!).

My husband...should I ever meet/find/discover one...must definitely be a planner. He doesn't have to be a looker but he must be someone who can plan and then be flexible about it. As I envision a lifelong of travelling, he too must like it. If he doesnt like to plan, I can picture lots of lazy travels, sleeping on the streets, missing trains and stumbling upon unchartered territories and discovering new sites. Exciting now...not really when you are 70 years old.

Anyway yeah, Italia. The friend's wedding invitation has been received...Sept 14 at Tuscany. Her wedding is the element I need to start my trip to Pasta Land. After Spain in 2010, Europe has always been a great attraction. Of course, football plays a big part too and talking about that, I need to find what are the football matches happening when I'm in Milan (Milan! Internazionale!) or Rome (Roma!). Need to start sourcing for accommodation lest Lauren accuses me of not being interested in finding a roof over our heads.

Talking about accommodation, I'm still contemplating if I should stay at the wedding venue, Villa Barberino or should I just get a place in a hostel down the road. Though I'd always choose the latter type no matter what the situation is (I'm just a sucker for cheap accommodation), I must consider my travelling companion's 'requirements' and I think Lauren is quite particular about accommodation. But I think...somehow...exchange rates will eventually prevail, haha.

Villa Barberino

Alternatively...it may be here.

Amoliv Bed & Breakfast.

I think you know which one I rather have.
Not cheapskate.
Call me...'rustic'.

Time for miracles

A very interesting weekend had I. There was happiness, there was sadness, devastation even..there was reflection, there was hope, there was anger, yet there was love. There was hate, there was introspection and ultimately, there was salvation.

I thank God for allowing me to go through all these, making me wiser and a believer more and more each day. I thank God for giving me the strength to deal with destructive forces around me, to push away bad vibes and the will to see positivity and light radiating from every pore.

I thank God for allowing me to be a friend, and be a good and steady pillar to my friends and loved ones. And to those who feel that one needs to have a boyfriend or a spouse to feel love and be loved, well...you are not really correct.

Love, hope and miracle are everywhere...in everyone.

I love Love.

It's late at night and I can't sleep
Missing you just runs too deep
Oh I can't be thinking of your smile
Every kiss you cant forget
This aching heart ain't broken yet
Oh God I wish I could make you see
Cause I know this flame isn't dying
So nothing can stop me from trying

Baby you know that
Maybe it's time for miracles
Cause I ain't giving up on love
You know that
Maybe it's time for miracles
Cause I ain't giving up on love
No I ain't giving up on us

I just want to be with you
Cuz living is so hard to do
When all I know is trapped inside your eyes
The future I cannot forget
This aching heart ain't broken yet
Oh God I wish I could make you see
Cuz I know this flame isn't dying
So nothing can stop me from trying

Baby you know that
Maybe it's time for miracles
Cuz I ain't giving up on love
You know that
Maybe it's time for miracles
Cause I ain't giving up on love
No I ain't giving up on us
Baby can you feel it(feel it)

You know I can hear it(hear it)
So can you feel it feel it.
You know it's time.
Baby you know that
Maybe it's time for miracles
Cuz I ain't giving up on love
You know that
Maybe it's time for miracles
Cuz I ain't giving up on love
You know I ain't giving up on us
You know I ain't giving up on
Oh I ain't giving up on us

Very delicate

Are you in a fix? I hope not.

Leave me out with the waste
This is not what I'd do
It's the wrong kind of place
To be thinking of you
It's the wrong time
For somebody new
It's a small crime
And I've got no excuse

Is that alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
Is that alright?
If you don't shoot it how am I supposed to hold it
Is that alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
Is that alright
With you?

Leave me out with the waste
This is not what I'd do
It's the wrong kind of place
To be cheating on you
It's the wrong time
She's pulling me through
It's a small crime
And I've got no excuse

Is that alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
Is that alright?
If you dont shoot it, how am I supposed to hold it
Is that alright?
If I give my gun away when it's loaded
Is that alright
Is that alright with you?

..no it is not all right.

The Gold Man

...and the list of nominees is out for the 2012 Academy Awards and that means, my movie frenzy - if it hasn't reached maniac level yet - will soar through the roof. Samba

I might have done this posting before..but I cannot remember.

Samba Pa Ti must be my anthem should one need one to remember me by. I think it fits me perfectly, besides the clear fact that I am not a Latina.

It has rock, melodrama, a bit of kitsch ( those keyboard notes!), a bit of hope and a bit of dream. It is sexy but very casual...needy but not pushy.

Sounds like me, right?

Okay...am rambling.

May you have a better life with the new owner.

Astro

I usually dont believe in this stuff...but hey, it's Chinese New Year, and the Dragon is entering. So, let's just take the good, be mindful of the bad.

"2012 will be a year of career and financial gains for the Goat, you should try to save where possible throughout this year if you follow this advice and work hard and smart, you could accumulate a large sum. There could be a lot of activity this year at work; you will find that a project that has previously brought you a lot of stress and taken up a lot of your time will bring out many of your positive qualities to the attention of you and others around you. If you are going to take on a new responsibility you should be warned that you will need to learn new skills at a fast speed although this will be very beneficial to you especially if you are given the chance to go on a training course.

You will find yourself meeting a lot of new people in 2012 and you will find that you win a lot of them over with your ability to relate to others. You may meet new people this year that you could build a strong friendship with including a romantic relationship that could lead to a serious commitment.

You will benefit from learning new skills; this could be anything from reading a new book to studying a new talent. 2012 is a great time for using your initiative and going ahead with new opportunities. The Goat will take a lot of pride in their new purchases throughout this year but should remember to not make too many impulsive purchases and should not rush into buying something, as you may find that 56 inch plasma television not the best investment you made and neither is it good for the health of our planet so stay small and cautious in 2012! Make sure you research any large purchases before you commit to buying, as you may end up spending more money this year than you can afford to. If you EVER have any doubts in financial situations throughout this year, please seek advice as this could save you a great deal of time and money. Please check the annual and monthly updates and maybe even consider our Tong Shu Almanac Software for planning your spending and every other aspect for the whole year.

At home this year, you will need to have flexibility with plans as there will be a lot of activity in your home in this fast paced Dragon year. If you find it possible, take a holiday with a loved one this year, you will benefit from the change of scenery even if you do not go very far. Romance will be very good for you this year, especially if you are looking to get married. Love is very strong for the Goat in 2012 although there is the possibility that a married Goat could find a short term relationship with another person.

Those born in 1991 should spend the beginning of the year preparing for an increase in social events. Those born in 1943 should try to share their advice with friends and loved ones people they trust as they will benefit from this. Those born in 1955 need to keep an eye out for new opportunities as there will be plenty in 2012. Those born in 1967 should not linger in the past as a lot can happen for you when you are willing to move on. Those born in 1979 should spend more time with those who are close to you and take opportunities when they come along. A lost friend or even a family member that became detached may bring good news in 2012 and it is a great year to mend broken bridges, it really is worth contacting lost friends to try and reconcile, expect a great year in 2012."

Golden Girl

Am watching Golden Globe live on some website. I havent done my predictions on the blog this time round, will save it for Oscars...end of next month.

Nevertheless, am liking what I see (well, almost). Jean Dujardin won Best Comedy/Musical Actor for The Artist (I love that show!). Martin Scorsese won for Hugo --> havent seen that yet, but thank God Woody Allen didnt win for Midnight In Paris. Not a big fan of the pretentious (to me at least) existentialist flick.

Am rooting for Brad Pitt to win Best Actor (drama) but...that's pure biasness. I think Leo DiCaprio is more deserving in J.Edgar. Whatever. As long as it is not Ryan Gosling for The Ides of March. The movie is good but I think Ryan Gosling was just channeling Matthey McCoughnahey in A Time To Kill. Boring.

Okay.
Back to the Globes!

Albert Nobbs

Though I can enjoy silly movies once in a while (okay, sometimes more often than not), I do appreciate a serious thought-provoking slow-burners on other occasions. And, I am really really looking forward to this particular one come March...Albert Nobbs.

It's about struggle. About trying to suppress who you really are in order to fit into a biased and cruel society. And when you feel that you fit in, BAM comes something which will knock you off your perch and you come crashing down...questioning your sense of worth and existence as you tumble.

Powerful stuff.

A mess

I am feeling like crap here at work. Very low.

"You've got the best of both worlds
You're the kind of girl
Who can take down a man
And lift him back up again

You are strong but you're needy
Humble but you're greedy
And based on your body language
And shoddy cursive I've been reading

Your style is quite selective
Though your mind is rather reckless
Well I guess it just suggests
That this is just what happiness is

And what a beautiful mess this is
It's like picking up trash in dresses

Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you write
Kind of turn themselves into knives
And don't mind my nerve you could call it fiction
But I like being submerged in your contradictions dear
'Cause here we are, here we are

Although you were biased I love your advice
Your comebacks they're quick
And probably have to do
With your insecurities

There's no shame in being crazy
Depending on how you take these
Words I'm paraphrasing
This relationship we're staging

And what a beautiful mess this is
It's like picking up trash in dresses

Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you say
Kind of turn themselves into blades
And kind and courteous is a life I've heard
But it's nice to say that we played in the dirt oh dear

Cause here we are,
Here we are
Here we are [x7]
We're still here
What a beautiful mess this is
It's like taking a guess when the only answer is yes

Through timeless words
And priceless pictures
We'll fly like birds
Not of this earth

And times they turn
And hearts disfigure
But that's no concern
when we're wounded together

And we tore our dresses
And stained our shirts
But it's nice today
Oh the wait was so worth it"

I hope so.

Bless your soul

I dont mind getting constructive scoldings. It's always the anticipation that is killing me.

Anyway, yes, got a scolding from my boss but I guess, I kind of deserve it. It's always about me trying to play cordial with another party...building goodwill...and the boss kind of saw it. But I do have my reasons. I'm the one dealing with the other party and I thought it would be a good PR move.

I forgot.
I wasnt a PR person.
My boss wasn't a PR person.
The other party wasnt a client/advertiser.

Not used to being good to others with a motive. I'm a goodwill, ambassadorial kind of person. I'm Miss Congeniality, dammit.

But yes.
I live and I learn.
Thank God I have a positive heart.
Bless my parents.

I won't give up

I have heard this tune before. It comes from Christina Perri, Damien Rice, Connor Reeves, Switchfoot and many others who swear by love. Yet, Mraz always gains the upper-hand to make it sweet and more meaningful.

I am not crazy over it. But it does provoke my thoughts on this drabby Thursday afternoon. I have never fought for love, always choosing to disappear when things get messy or difficult.

Maybe...just maybe...I should try harder in the next one.

Maybe.

Happy New Year...Happy New Year...

This is my last post for the year.

I am still in Ubud, Bali...with Nani and Shari (plus her family). Am getting depressed cause I still haven't settled any of the articles and read the books/magazine that I brought.

What have I been doing?

I've been sleeping till 11am and then out by 1300hrs to eat, walk around all the way till 2200hrs. Been getting massage, facial, and stuff...nothing really substantial. I woke up to a glorious view of paddy fields and yet, inspiration eludes me.

That makes me wonder --> probably my last wonderment of the year.

One doesn't have to go somewhere to get inspirations. You tell yourself you want to see the sea, the mountains, foreign cultures to feel rejuvenated...to feel inspired but I have done that but it doesnt mean anything to me if my mindset isnt right. Or maybe the people you are with.

So I guess...if I am at home right now, maybe inspiration will come. I dont have to be at Machu Piccu...but haha you never can tell, right?

Anyway, 2011 has been an interesting year. Left my comfort zone of TMC, jumped into a lion's den immediately after, experienced a whole gamut of emotions, lost friends to geographical locations (you, Gladys!) and marriages, battled anxiety, handled depression and bipolarity ... and all these are not even ending with the year end.

What am I looking forward to?

More peaceful, calmer times I hope. My world has been getting quite noisy lately (or is it just the voices in my head?) and I look forward for more time for self-reflection. Am not looking for inspiration, just introspection.

Or maybe love. That's always a good thing, right? Love?
I'm turning 32 in 21 days and that's Bridget Jones' age, right?

New year...turning 32...I'm just going to let things flow. Nothing drastic obviously. Am just not going to sweat the small things. Join me.

Happy New Year my good friends.
May we have better fortune, health and prosperity.
May goodness prevail on us.

Amin.

Don't be late

I'm not a Christian but Christmas time has always been kind of nostalgic for me in so many ways. It's during this time that the father has his bonus and growing up, it was the time we could go Orchard Road and buy something we really wanted. It was the time I could get pretty dresses, take pictures with Christmas decor and have a nice time.

Growing up, my first real job had me spinning Yuletide tunes during the season down at Rediffusion. I spent 2 Christmas there and I was the one always on duty then. I remember being alone and playing all the gospels and hymnns on the eve. The Xmas tree would be on my left and the room would be so festive and smelling of pine.

Good times. Life was so much simpler than.

For I am nothing but a postmodernist.

Cold winter

GOt back from work and hour ago...and I've yet to pack for my Hong Kong trip. Need to be at Terminal 1 at 0630hrs. The thought of it makes my stomach churn.

Then...I realised I didnt bring home the e-ticket from the office. The stomach churned more. Was this close to crying and asking my dad to go with me to office cause I just want someone to go with me. Then...Lauren told me she had a printer.

Thank Lord...thank Lauren...thank my sister who is right now on her way to Lauren's place to get my e-ticket from her. Thanks everybody, thanks.

Now...I shall do my packing.

I dont like going on a business trip.

It makes me sick knowing that there's nothing pleasurable about it.

Plus...it's 12 degrees in HK...in the day. I cannot imagine the night.

It's okay if you have friends to keep you warm (metaphorically and physically) but I'm going with a celeb and her family and I'll be alone in the room.

Nevertheless, let's make the best use of it, I guess.

It will rain

Not everyone is interested in fervently wishing to settle down, get married or whatever's related. But to those who are, I have nothing but smiles, nods and "yay"s for you.

Tiffany rings or not, it's fine. You can buy your own. If you want it bad, and he's not buying, stop fretting and buy it yourself. Come on. If you are hungry, and no one is cooking for you, do you let yourself starve?

I dont get it. Okay..fine..if it comes from a lover, guess it has more value but is it worth to hem and haw? and be all hopeful and miserable? No. Seriously, get a life.

Oh...those who are attached/married/being made a mistress, congratulations. Just dont think I need help desperately just cause I'm single, yeah? Relationships break, divorces happen and AIDS kill...so before you gloat about your 'perfect' lives, dont. Just wish the best for everyone and everything...

...afterall, who are we to judge if someone's life is complete or otherwise.

Time for El Clasico.

Go Messi!

Lagu Teman

I havent been updating...duh.

KL trip was a freaking riot. A tiring riot. Reached at 1am and was picked up by Eileen and Papi. By the time Jing, Des and I settled ourselves nicely in their living room, it was already 4.30am. Next day we headed to Mid-Valley for brunch and then to sing our asses off from 2-6pm. That night supper was crazy. Chilli crab was epic!

Sunday was the first time I ever been to The Curve. Nice. Shall go there again next time. Soon it was time to board the bus home at 4.30pm and well...that's it. Epic lepak holiday, right?

Next week is Hong Kong. Work-related, so you dont have to envy me. You can if you want but...you dont have to. Haha. After Hong Kong, it will be Bali. Cant wait to see Shari and her gang. Yay.

That's the quick update for now. Let me leave you with a new favourite Malay song..haha!

Lonely

The office was swept with KPop fever cause the MAMA came to town. It coincided with the issue that we're working on...January's K-Pop issue. We have been thinking about it for the past 3 months, only to be beaten by the local daily who ran a 2-page coverage on the Hallyu scene here a few days ago.

Not only that, a rival foreign magazine did their Dec issue in KPop fashion and damn...now we look like we're copycats. Urgh, the perils of a monthly!

Anyway I was never a fan of the Hallyu scene. I've never seen a Korean drama and my connection with Korean food comes in the form of a hotpot at Seoul Garden. Though I do have Arirang and KBS channels, they were untouched until one day, my niece introduced this silly but hilarious show called 'Oh! My School' to me.

I spent many nights laughing my ass off watching this dumb show. As I watched it, my knowledge of KPop stars widened a little. At least now I know some of their names, though not necessarily their music. Think it's one of the best variety show I've ever seen. Almost died laughing each time.

So anyway...it's MAMA today and Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre (DRE!!) were in town to be part of the event. Unbelievable. Dre's was there and I didnt even attend. What blasphemy. My favourite Hallyu commodity, B2ST (well...I know 2 of their members from Oh My School cause they are the permanent fixtures. Hence, familiarity) performed as well and ..urgh...they were good.

Guess that's what I got for being cheapo and refusing to pay to see B2ST and Dr Dre (and Snoop!) at the Indoor Stadium. Urgh. Next time.

Saranghaeyo Yoseob & B2ST!

...okay. ew.

The one that got away

*sniff*

I love this song not because I'm a Katy Perry fan (not really) but I like the song because I think I can relate to it a few times (hah!). Yes a few times. 5 times.

Wait a minute.
How can it be 5 times?
That's 5 times too many.

Oh well. That's cowardice and commitment phobia for you.

Summer after high school when we first met
We make out in your Mustang to Radio head
And on my 18th birthday we got that chain tattoos
Used to steal your parents' liquor and climb to the roof
Talk about our future like we had a clue
Never plan that one day I'd be losing you

And in another life I would be your girl
We keep all our promises, be us against the world
And in other life I would make you stay
So I don't have to say you were the one that got away
The one that got away

I was dreaming you were my Johnny Cash
Never one, we got the other, we made a pact
Sometimes when I miss you, I put those records on, whoa
Someone said you had your tattoo removed
Saw you downtown singing the blues
It's time to face the music, I'm longer your muse

And in another life I would be your girl
We keep all our promises, be us against the world
And in another life, I would make you stay
So I don't have to say you were the one that got away
The one that got away

The one, the one, the one
The one that got away

All these money can't buy me a time machine, no
Can't replace you with a million rings, no
I should've told you what you meant to me, whoa
'Cause now I pay the price

In another life I would be your girl
We keep all our promises, be us against the world
And in another life, I would make you stay
So I don't have to say you were the one that got away
The one that got away

The one, the one, the one, the one

And in another life I would make you stay
So I don't have to say you were the one that got away
The one that got away

Hold me closer, tiny dancer

10 more days to seeing my great father…Sir Reginald Kenneth Dwight. That’s Sir Elton John for the uninitiated. I’ve been dreaming of this day and even though it’s not the most expensive ticket in the house (I may be his “daughter” but I’m poor), I am excited like crazy to hear him and to see him sitting at the piano “live”.

I know he will not sing all his songs – that will take days and then some – but nevertheless, I hope he can cover as many as possible the songs I long to hear “live” from him.

1. Are You Ready for Love?
2. Bennie and the Jets
3. Crocodile Rock
4. Daniel
5. Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me
6. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
7. Hercules
8. I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues
9. I Want Love
10. I’m Still Standing
11. Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters
12. Nikita
13. Rocket Man
14. Saturday Night’s All Right (For Fighting)
15. Someone Saved My Life Tonight
16. Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word
17. Tiny Dancer
18. Your Song

I’m not a big fan of ‘Sacrifice’, ‘Candle In The Wind’ and the Disney she-bang of ‘Circle Of Life’ and ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ … so, yeah.

10 more days!

Money

It's not like I'm hard up for money (or maybe I am but I havent realised it yet) but a promise is a promise. I know I havent lent thousands of dollars and wads and wads of cash but I did lend some to some people on the basis of trust and friendship.

500...and I've only see a fifth, after prodding. The rest...still in need to be prodded? Will some paint on your door be good of a prod? Come on.

The other one...so many excuses. Spoilt ATM machines and all. And now what...transferred to wrong account. Babe, I was born 31 years ago, not with the Y2K virus, okay? *snap fingers*

If you cant make bank, just tell me. We'll negotiate. Dont give me excuses. Remember when you peeps beg me for money? Stories of repossession, kids starving with no milk and all come out. Well...are they eating better now? Good? Yes? Should I halal it?

I'm not the best of Muslims...heck, some dont even call me one. I'm going to keep your kids...and you..your parents...out of my hate and just channel on you as a person, a very untrustworthy one.

You can be poor...you can borrow money...but it's how you deal with it makes you rich in people's eyes.

I am just pissed because this is making me mean and I am seeing myself giving out unnecessary negative energy and doubt.

I shouldnt have given away my hard earned dough so easily to people I'm not even sure I know anymore.

I should have just given to my favourite Jamiyah house when I was feeling generous back then.

15

Just finished a 15-hr work day...got home minutes past midnight. Am so bushed and yet I dont feel like I've done enough.

It's a combination of various factors with poor discipline playing a big part. But I know myself. I know I can be tardy but there's always a reason behind that.

Still...I dont seem to be doing a lot but work gets tiring. I cant seem function well in the office de to many stupid little things which I am embarrassed to say. But if I dont say it, I only burden myself.

#1 I am facing the sun every day. There's only one small window in the room and I have the 'great fortune' to face it. The glare is distracting and I cant roll down the blinds cause that's not how others like it.

#2 Colleague's music is distracting. I love music a lot but when I want to oncentrate, I like minimal noise cause I want to hear myself think. Even if the music is not blaring, it kind of fills the room still. Yet since majority is fine with it, I hve to listen. To counter it, I plug to my own music...as soft as i can.
That doesnt solv it totally cause now...I'm hearing two types of music. Doosh.

#3 and this the worse. It's called latent stress. You dont see it but the air is sure thick with it Not only does this unseen tension stresses me out, it's making me paranoid and i lack focus.

God. I am such a troublesome hermit.

Old before I die

I take it back. There is still one thing I want to do before I die...that is to be a professional travel writer or a tour guide.

For the latter, I hope it's for the Malay/Muslim market where I can bring people beyond the region and head out to the roads less travelled. Like the Serengeti or Ipanema, for example.

I hope this can happen soon. Apart from becoming a magistrate and a scientist, I think I have tasted the professions of my childhood dreams (in varying degrees and durations of course) and I feel very blessed of course...but this yet-to-come one will be my greatest profession, I think.

...that is if you dont consider being a wife/ mom as the greatest job of all. That one is something I cannot control. The rest, I can find my way around it.

Hmmm...how does one become a travel guide? A fantastic one, that is?

I need to sort this fast. Hope to achieve it by 35.

That's going to be like almost 3 more years.

...exciting.

Every little beat

Maybe it's not obvious but I do have deep love for dance/electro/trance music. Deep deep love and my favourite people have always been Above & Beyond...

...and with my deepest regret, I actually missed them last night when they performed down at Zouk. Firstly, I was blindsided by their KL show on Deepavali and it didnt hit me that they would be here. Secondly, I dont have any friends who share this deep passion of mine.

Okay. I only have 2 excuses. Next time they are here, I swear I'll go alone. There's no space for shyness when it comes to achieving the things you want to do. If I can club alone, I swear the next thing I'm going to do is to travel the world alone.

In the meantime, here's something epic which I had missed.

Lego House

Ed Sheeran's my latest musical crush right now and this song is beautiful.

Having Ron Weasley is a big plus :)

I'm gonna pick up the pieces,
And build a Lego house
When things go wrong
We can knock it down

My three words have two meanings,
There's one thing on my mind
It's all for you

And it's dark in a cold December
But I've got ya to keep me warm
And if you're broken I'll mend ya
And keep you sheltered from the storm
That's raging on

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
And out of all these things I've done
I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And out of all these things I've done
I think I love you better now

I'm gonna paint you by numbers
And colour you in
If things go right we can frame it
And put you on a wall

And it's so hard to say it
But I've been here before
Now I'll surrender up my heart
And swap it for yours

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
And out of all these things I've done
I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And out of all these things I've done
I think I love you better now

Don't hold me down
I think my braces are breaking
And it's more than I can take

And if it's dark in a cold December,
but I've got ya to keep me warm
And if you're broken I'll mend ya
And keep you sheltered from the storm
That's raging on

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
And out of all these things I've done
I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And out of all these things I've done
I think I love you better now - Lego House, Ed Sheeran

Don't Teese me!

Just got wind that I will be sent to Hong Kong in November for a sponsored trip by HK Tourism Board. As this is a work trip, my itinerary will be determined by the sponsors. Not only that, I will be there with a celebrity and his/her family...shadowing them as they are paid to enjoy themselves.

It must be fun to be them. Haha.

I would have been sent to Jogjakarta this Thursday to Saturday but I kind of have made prior plans. I would be meeting Dita Von Teese this Friday and Saturday and therefore, I'd give Indonesia a miss. That's a good thing cause as much as I love Indonesia, meeting Ms Von Teese face to face is a very rare chance.

And she will perform her Martini burlesque dance for me this Saturday.

Salut!
