This is la vie en rose...

Laut mana tidak bergelombang.
Bumi mana tidak ditimpa hujan.

My right wrist is acting up quite badly too. It hurts and I think I need to eat the painkillers later. The doctor gave me those magic pills for my hurting foot but I’m taking it for my hurting wrist. I think it works for every aching thing, including the heart. That’s why people overdose on painkillers.

Painkillers. Arent these thingamajik a miracle?

Snapped at both Inn Tian and Betsy earlier. I’m so sorry now. But I certainly wasn’t just now. We were arguing about the Batman Begins tickets just now and it came naturally - my glare and that don’t-fuck-with-me voice. Refreshing, isn’t it? Am okay five minutes later though. Even gave them an apology email. I guess, I don’t hold to any emotions long. Yes, I have a problem.

I am finally… a Jedi. I will finally be a Jedi Master, fitting of Qui-Gon-Jinn, when I turn 35 and if I am still single.

Went to Sharinah’s place yesterday. The intention was to discuss her wedding. But I ended up frying chicken…getting my clothes all greasy and chicken-smelling. Ok I didn’t mind helping. But when they pushed the dirty dishes to me, I was quite fuming inside. Lucky Sharinah was like a sister to me. If it’s not for her, I would have scolded her mother and her sister upside down, inside out, top and bottom. I would have recommended an “elope” wedding instead.

When the soon-to-be groom’s entourage of 3 people (what kind of entourage is that?) left, Sharinah and I ended up cleaning the kitchen while the rest of her relatives sat in the living room discussing every aspect of her wedding…and never a single bit asked her for her opinions. Sharinah was so upset. I was upset seeing her so upset. Then her sister and her younger brother came home. The sister, in all her bossiness, “scolded” Sharinah as of why was the kitchen still “sticky”. I was furious (inside, duh!). we had been in the kitchen since 1330hrs and there you were at 1530hrs bloody commanding us what to do.

Then Sharinah and her sister discussed about the wedding decor and all the void deck planning. Sharinah had already engaged someone to do it. But this @#%$%^ sister came and spolt everything, citing her friend could supposedly do a better job. Sharinah was in a spot because the person she engaged was her boyfriend’s uncle. Plus, she had already confirmed everything already. She was arguing with Sharinah in the kitchen and my poor poor friend was on the verge of tears. She gave me that see-this-is-the-kind-of-shit-i-deal-with-everyday look. I finally understand. I finally saw it.

I really respect you. Seriously, you ARE the almost-perfect woman.

I was supposed to meet Liah after that and Sharinah sent the greasy me downstairs. Within that short walk, she vented her frustration. I was getting worried about it too. She was going mental and I couldn’t really ease her situation.

Oh well.

Met Liah and heard another relationship stress-call. No no..they are still together but somehow things aren’t that rosy. I heard this before .. from others’ love experiences. And usually, I know the outcome. However, I spoke to her about patience and understanding each other. Looking back, it is hilarious. I’m the single one here and here I am dishing out love recipes. I am beginning to suspect that all Aunt Aggies are fat, old and unmarried people.

Liah was sweet. Think we both are booking a room at Conrad for Sharinah and her hubby. Our wedding present for her. And oh, she’s planning to take Sharinah and I to Hilton KL in September. I need to tell Sharinah!

Man.

Writing is therapeutic. Sadly, cant say the same for YG lately. Now, I am feeling old and lounge-y. Yeah, yeah…anything but hardworking.

Quand il me prend dans ses bras
Il me parle tout bas
Je vois la vie en rose
Il me dit des mots d'amour
Des mots de tous les jours
Et ca me fait quelque chose

Il est entre dans mon coeur
Une part de bonheur
Dont je connais la cause
C'est toi pour moi

Moi pour toi
Dans la vie
Il me l'a dit
l'a jure pour la vie
Et des que je l'apercois
Alors je sens en moi
Mon coeur qui bat

Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose
When you kiss me heaven sighs
and tho I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose.

When you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom
And when you speak
Angels sing from above
Everyday words seem to turn into love songs
Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose
- La Vie En Rose, Edith Piaf

Lovely.

Why do I prefer talking on the phone?

I am not heartless. I am just not into...showing feelings.

A totally unproductive Saturday. Woke up at 1000hrs all sweaty and dirty (heh...what did you think?) and *gasp* with my contact lenses still intact! After showering, got something to eat (horrible lunch), watched a bit of tv, read the papers..i concussed at 1530hrs. Since nani cancelled our in-line skating session (she thought it was going to rain), i figured sleeping was a good replacement. So i slept till 1900hrs.

Good sleep, of course.

Met Ismail at Orchard mrt at about 2045hrs and we took a slow walk to Somerset. Hey, sorry if i sounded rough or rude. Anyway i needed dinner so we went to my favourite mama-in-town food stall at the obscure Orchard Plaza. Sha joined us there and well, we talked. And I ate my banana prata drenched in condensed milk (it was strangely nice) and ice milo.

Sha left at 2245hrs, leaving mail and i. we walked all the way back and went to borders for a while. around midnight, mail sent me home in a cab. Hey, thanks man. THat was sweet.

ANyway dont think i can make it to Hotel Phoenix tomorrow. Going to spend my sunday at Sharinah's because the groom's entourage is coming over. Heh, Liah wants to tag along too. So we both will be sitting with Sharinah in her room...and straining our ears to hear the conversations taking place outside. Ah, you blushing bride, you...

Ooh ooh ooh...my UK photos are finally developed. Sweet memories. sweet sweet memories. I so want to relive them again. London was simply too short.

Some day.

I feel empty today.
I just feel it.
I know why though.
But I remember something bad.
So I chuck that empty feeling aside.
Some things are not meant for me to have.
I respect that.
I move on.

Dont you just love my non-chalant self?

A thousand times goodnight, snooty lovers.

A Fucking Story

I snapped at Kelen so loudly I almost embarrassed myself.

K: Eh sorry leh. I accidentally open this letter and then I realised it was for you.
M: (read the letter) Why did you open? Can’t you see my name on the envelope?
K: No lah. Geok Leng said I must open and read every letter addressed to the editor, mah.
M: Are you blind? There’s my name there!
K: I saw the word “Editor” mah.
M: (gave her a cold hard stare) Yes, there is the word “Editor” but there is no “YG”.
K: I only saw the word “Editor” mah and Geok Leng said I must …
M: Yeah but this letter doesn’t have the word “YG”!
K: I don’t know mah. I ..
M: Yeah yeah yeah! Whatever! (under my breath: Fucker!)

After that I sat on my seat, still teething with anger. Tears were brimming in my eyes.

One thing I don’t like is to have people opening my letters and reading my mails. The excuse she gave may be valid to some but I am sorry, I didn’t buy it. Just because my designation was written by the sender didn’t give her the fucking right to read the card given by my consultant. What? She’s my fucking boss now? And don’t get me started on GL. What? I cant receive any sealed, unread letters now?

If you think the world revolves around you, fuck you.
Fuck the whole lot of you.
Yes, all of you incompetent wankers and sad assholes.

Fuck fucking you.

I dont feel the fucking mood to go bbq-ing. Fuck. i dont like bbq in the fucking first place. Guess what? There's the fucking company bbq next fucking week. Ah, fuck the fucking charcoal!

###

So you think you're...LOST?

Oh yeah, they are lost all right.

I love it. It got me hooked for 2 bloody hours last night. My only grouse: Do I have to sacrifice BodyCombat come end of this month?

It’s finally Friday. Richard sms-ed me yesterday and said there will be a surprise birthday celebration for Halimah at Changi Beach this evening. Should I go? Well, I don’t really have any plans tonight, so why not?

Sunday…I am now not sure if I should go to Nico’s daughter “party”. You see, Sharinah wants me to help her. The hubby-to-be’s family is coming over this Sunday to discuss the wedding. She wants me to be there with her. Let me have the whole of Saturday to think about it.

Medy is coming over to Ubi for lunch later. Don’t think I want to join them. I will die if they decide to eat that urgh, yucky, puke-inducing, bad sock-y smelling chou dou fu. That’s fucking smelly bean curd, ya’ll.

Vile things.

Last night at Kaki 5 cafe...

Yeah, obviously we are bad solace-givers…choosing to play Heart Attack, Ludo and Jenga, rather than listening to a dear friend. So dear friend, I am sorry that you didn’t find peace with us last night. Honestly, we all didn’t know how to react. Our intention was to cheer you up but obviously it backfired. We had given you all our condolences and we heard the story. We felt sad for you but mostly, we felt awkward.

And well, the incident at the coffee shop was an accident. I’m sure she didn’t know who was the person in the picture. Honestly, that was not her fault. And yes, we found it freaky.

If you were to ask me, all I can say is to just pray for his soul to rest in peace. If you are to just wallow in this depression, trust me, it will never go away.

That is death, for you.

My friend, you have a life to lead. A career to build. Pick yourself up.

Quickly.

Lazy Thursday

Your IQ Is 120

Your Logical Intelligence is Genius
Your Verbal Intelligence is Genius
Your Mathematical Intelligence is Above Average
Your General Knowledge is Above Average

The thing that amazed me was the Logical Intelligence part. Utter rubbish! I’m the most illogical person in the world.

Heh.Not that I’m proud of it…

Sharinah asked me to help her with the wedding plannings. I am just toying with some ideas…don’t know if they will work. But ah, I still have time to tinker with these plans. I cant do all alone so I am thinking (am still thinking) of delegating/asking:

- Sha to be the photographer for the whole event (inai party, hen party, nikah, sanding, shopping session)
- Nani to be the make up person and the one in-charge of inai
- Meiling to make a cake and help with the baskets and gift-trays
- Nettie to help the bride decorate the bedroom and make sure everything is colour-cordinated
- Lauren to plan a hen night and a bridal shower for bride and crew
- Ismail to be the videographer

Me?

The bride has assigned me tasks to do already which are of top secret. Right. I’ve been appointed as the wedding planner and I know it’s lame but I have admin work to do. God, I am getting obsessed with this marriage and it’s not even mine. I should change profession! I’ll make sure the bridesmaids do a good job. Gosh 6 more months!!

Any of my Christian friends getting married?
I want to plan a church wedding next.

Okay. I am going cuckoo.

Goin' to the chapel
And we're gonna get ma-a-arried
Goin' to the chapel
And we're gonna get ma-a-arried
Gee, I really love you
And we're gonna get ma-a-arried
Goin' to the chapel of love

Spring is here, th-e-e sky is blue, whoa-oh-oh
Birds all sing as if they knew
Today's the day we'll say "I do"
And we'll never be lonely anymore because we're

Goin' to the chapel
And we're gonna get ma-a-arried
Goin' to the chapel
And we're gonna get ma-a-arried
Gee, I really love you
And we're gonna get ma-a-arried
Goin' to the chapel of love

Bells will ring, the-e-e sun will shine, whoa-oh-oh
I'll be his and he'll be mine
We'll love until the end of time
And we'll never be lonely anymore because we're

Goin' to the chapel
And we're gonna get ma-a-arried
Goin' to the chapel
And we're gonna get ma-a-arried
Gee, I really love you
And we're gonna get ma-a-arried
Goin' to the chapel of love
- Chapel Of Love, The Dixie Cups

When the wedding’s over, what am I going to do?

You paint a sad picture

Sharinah’s wedding joy aside…

You have to thank your parents for making you feel really depress lately. They never fail to shoot you down when you are at your most vulnerable. You don’t hate them but really, what can a daughter do to get some support around here?

They think you want to be stuck in this rut forfuckingever? They think you don’t want to earn more and live more comfortably? They0 think..? They think..?

You’ve been here for 19 months already and believe it, your self-confidence is just dipping everyday. You look into the mirror and into your eyes…they no longer sparkle. The drive to work is gone. As one can see you find it more productive and satisfying to blog than to work. People may say that you are a lazy ass who only gripes and doesn’t really do work. They can say whatever they want because you really don’t care. You are so jaded with this company that even your love for writing cannot salvage anything. And for the longest time, you are questioning your worth.

You think that you are able to take on the world. But each day passes and you are no longer sure. In fact, you begin to believe that voice in your head that says you are capable of nothing and that you have no special traits in you that make companies want to accept you. You think of many other jobs and one by one you cancel them out because you believe that you are not qualified to take all those roles.

You are far behind. So far out. There were a few occasions you wanted to give everything all up and live rotten. You were so tempted to take that plunge into the dungeons of hell, into God’s wrath, because you couldn’t see the point in being morally righteous. There were times you think about ways to forget and let go. Outlets upon outlets came to your mind. But somehow, you gave everything a second chance.

If you want to jump, why wont you jump? Are you afraid of the splatter you’ll make at the foot of the building? If you want to fly, why cant you fly? Are you afraid of coming back to Earth? If you want to run, why don’t you run? Are you afraid of not finishing the race?

Yes, little cry-baby, it is so tough being you. You are just so unique…Just like everyone else.

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that’s real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

What have I become, my sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liars chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become, my sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I will keep myself
I would find a way
- Hurt, Johnny Cash (originally done by Nine Inch Nails)

Oh yes. You bet you are.

I love you tomorrow

The sun will come out, tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow
There'll be sun
Just thinking about, tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow
Till there's none

When I’m stuck with the day
That’s grey, and lonely
I just stick out my chin and grin and say

Oh the sun will come out, tomorrow
So you gotta hang on till tomorrow
Come what may

Tomorrow, tomorrow
I love ya, tomorrow
You're always a day away

The sun will come out, tomorrow
So you gotta hang on till tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow, tomorrow
I love ya tomorrow
You're always a day away
Tomorrow, tomorrow
I love ya tomorrow
You're always a day away
- Tomorrow (from the musical Annie)

I dont know.
It gives me hope.
I know tomorrow will always be there for me, no matter what.

Here's to tomorrow.

I dont know what title but I dont care!

Man, I didn’t really mean it. Yesterday was overwhelming indeed. Jay, Sue and now..ta da!

Remember my challenge in the previous entry? The one where I beckoned you to bring it on? Guess what? Last night, it came.

Kylie’s Red Blooded Woman started to play just as I was about to enter the bathroom.

Mona: Hello. Ya?
Caller: Hello. Eh, why are you in a huff?
Mona: I want to pee!
Caller: You pee first and I’ll call later.
Mona: No no no no..I’ll bring my phone in. Put you on loudspeaker.
Caller: Erm, I want to tell you something…
Mona: (peeing and talking at the top of my voice) What? What? We just met for dinner 10 minutes ago!
Caller: I wanted to tell you but I don’t know how to say it in front of #%^)&*$& (a name).
Mona: Say what? (flushed toilet)
Caller: What the hell is that?
Mona: Hehe..toilet flush.
Caller: Gross!
Mona: Oh shaddap. What did you want to say?
Caller: Erm..
Mona: (almost hysterical) What? Speak up! I cant hear you!
Caller: He met my family yesterday and we have decided to get married this December.
Mona: What? Again? When? December?????
Caller: Yeah, man!
Mona: Walao!! Why didn’t you say just now? Then can tell #%^)&*$& also?
Caller: I don’t know how to tell you!
Mona: Just say, “Mona, I am getting married.”
Caller: I don’t know! I don’t know!
Mona: Okay, okay. You have to tell her.
Caller: I know. I will.
Mona: Can I be your bridesmaid?
Caller: Of course, lah! You have to be beside me all the time!
Mona: What? All the time? Can I decorate your car? Can I decorate your car?
Caller: We are going to get a Mercedes.
Mona: Wah!!! Can I decorate your car? (Then I realised I sucked in handicraft) Okay..no need he can decorate the car.
Caller: Okay. I’m home. I’ll call you again soon.
Mona: Bye!

Then it hit me and I had to take a moment and sit on the toilet bowl. Sharinah is getting married. My closest companion/mentor/senior/big sister is getting married.

When we get married we'll have a big celebration
Send invitations to all our friends and relations
We'll have a ball, dancing and all
When we get married

When the bells ring and tell the world I'm taking your hand
Folks from all over will come to see the wedding we've planned
We'll have a ball, dancing and all
When we get married (when we get married)

(We'll have a time) we'll have a time
(We'll dance and dine) and darling, we'll be oh so gay
(We'll have a ball) we'll have a ball
(Dancing and all) and darling we'll be as one

Just wait and see--our wedding day is not very far
Old folks will whisper and say how lovely we both are
We'll have a ball, dancing and all
When we get married (oh) mm-mm-mm (oh, oh, oh, oh)
- When We Get Married, Dream Lovers

It is still kind of sudden for me. Not that I am the one getting married but the news and the responsibilities and the excitement are very overwhelming!

Okay we are going to go shopping, we are going to buy baskets, lace, taffeta, silk and satin, chocolates, cake..we are going to hunt for a mak andam. We are sooo running out of time. Book a studio, I don’t want to be a photographer lah!!!! Tak glam….Argh! It is so exciting to be the right-hand (wo)man. That brings me to..the hen night. What are we going to do. You know what, I’ll have a pre-bridal gift. I’m going to take you watch Swan Lake. How about a trip? How about that? Ok ok ok…what else, oh ya. Your 2 traditional costumes, your wedding gown and your evening dress! So exciting. What colour you want Meiling and I to wear? You want music? Flowers! Lots and lots of flowers! Rose petals everywhere! Oh, you mention a hotel reception? Which hotel? Woman, you are driving me nuts here. I want to pengsan!

I forgot.

CONGRATULATIONS!

I am so so so happy for you. I am swirling, twirling, wheeling with excitement. I feel like screaming with joy, shouting it out on a mountaintop, “Sharinah’s getting married!!!!”

People smile and tell me I'm the lucky one
And we've just begun, I think I'm gonna have a son
He will be like you and me, as free as a dove
Conceived in love, the sun is gonna shine above

And even though we ain't got money
I'm so in love with ya honey
Everything bring a chain of lo-o-o-o-ve
And in the mornin' when I rise
Bring a tear of joy to my eyes
And tell me everything's gonna be all right

Love a guy who holds the world in a paper cup
Drink it up, love him and he'll bring you luck
And if ya find he helps your mind, better take him ho-ome
Yeah 'n' dontcha live alone, try to earn what lovers own

And even though we ain't got money
I'm so in love with ya honey
Everything bring a chain of lo-o-o-o-ve
And in the mornin' when I rise
Bring a tear of joy to my eyes
And tell me everything's gonna be all right
- Danny’s Song, Anne Murray

Sniff.

Happy.

Too happy.

Bring it all home, baby!

“In case you didn't know...the Electric Company was a TV series intended to teaching basic reading skills to slow readers in second, third, and forth grade, as a derivation of Sesame Street.”

Nabei.

I love Electric Company. However, I didn’t think I was a slow reader. I even preferred the show to the then-seemingly retarded Sesame Street. I wonder if anyone agrees.

Anyway, congratulations to Jason and Joanne, and Susan and Sean. What’s with the couples alliterations? Oh heck, while I’m at it, congratulations to Siti Azzah and Asman, Sha’s brother and Sha’s sister-in-law, Din and Rohaidah, Noreen’s brother and Noreen’s sister-in-law, Rendra and Rendra’s wife, and Ardi and Atikah. May your unions last until ..erm, forever.

Okay, who’s next?

Bring it on.

A fan's woe

Manchester United’s latest signing, the old (34 for fuck’s sake) Dutch goalie Edwin van der Sar

“At the time van der Sar admitted he would probably not have signed a new deal if either United or Arsenal had come in with a firm bid for him.

'I don't know if the teams were talking about me, I think it was more the media that came every time with those names,' he said in January.

'I think if I would have had a call from Sir Alex [Ferguson] or Arsene Wenger that they were interested in something, then probably I wouldn't have signed here, to be honest.” (Edwin van dar Sar, quoted from soccernet.com)

Right. So much for honesty!

Yes, he is good. But we must be that hard up to get him. Yes, Rio, we deserve better than all this crap.

Now Mancunians, tell me more about this new team that will be a so-called Manchester Uniter II.

My Father's Daughter Is Angry

My skin is like a map, where my heart has been
And I can't hide the marks, but it's not a negative thing
So I lay down my guard, drop my defenses, down by my clothes
I'm learning to fall, with no safety net, to cushion the blow

I bruise easily, so be gentle when you handle me
There's a mark you leave, like a love heart carved on a tree
I bruise easily, can't scratch the surface without moving me
Underneath I bruise easily, I bruise easily
- I Bruise Easily, Natasha Bedingfield

Man.

It can either be the bloody
carpal tunnel syndrome or writer’s cramp .

After last Monday’s rowing, the tingling numbness (weird, I know) comes more frequently. Over the weekend, it got slightly worse as the pain on my right wrist got more obvious. I don’t have diabetes and I am not pregnant so those causes are out. My deductions are repetitive motions and over-usage (at 25? That is sad!). It started at the wrist and now I can feel it s.l.o.w.l.y climbing my forearm.

Then how? Will I eventually lose the use of my wrist then? How to write? Type? Row? Grip a badminton racquet? Yoga? Strum the guitar? I think I have to use my left wrist more often now.

My dad scolded me for taking up too many activities and hence, the stupid “limp” wrist. He said I should retire from NPCC and all its nonsense. Right. Rubbish. Try harder, old man.

Anyway…

Yeah, moments like these I wish I am no longer staying with my parents. No, it is not because of my dad asking me to curb my NPCC enthusiasm. Come on. It’s more than that. As long as I am under their roof, I have to listen to their barrages of speeding-bullet mouths and endure their can-be unreasonable crap.

It is such a disgrace for me being 25 and yet not having (and unable to afford) my own place. My own bachelorette’s pad, which I can decorate it as tastefully as I deem right, which can be a small apartment with no proper rooms. It is not like I want to bring people over, have loud parties and stuff..Okay, maybe once in a blue moon..i just want the freedom to live my own life. I really cant stand it when I have to fight for space. I cant stand it when people use emotional blackmail. I really cant stand it when I’m scolded for reasons that are beyond my control. And don’t make me start on the integrated anger..ooh, the horror!

My future 4-post bed will look ridiculous in my room.

Oh well. The reason for this rambling started a couple of days ago. My brother told me of his intention to move out and stay with a friend in Sembawang. My dad and him had a stupid argument (actually any argument with my dad is one-sided cause the “arguee” will always shut up and will not retaliate…unless it’s my mother) and me dad told him if my bro not happy, he could move out. Well, my dad tells this to both my bro and I countless of times since we were kids and we know he does not mean it (after all, my mom will die if my brother moves out). But now that we are 24 and 25 respectively, it is really not funny anymore. Now with bigger and dangerous pride and egos, if you want us to leave…I guess, we will. One day.

Mona: You think he will allow you to leave?
Bro: Well, he asked me to get my own place.
Mona: You sure? He says that all the time.
Bro: I don’t know, lah. I can stay with my friend in Sembawang. His auntie has a vacant house there.
Mona: Can you afford it?
Bro: We just need to pay for the utilities. The house is paid for.
Mona: How many rooms?
Bro: I don’t know. 2..3..i don’t care.
Mona: Can I join?

Oh welly well. I give up. You can do anything to me, world. Take me. I’m yours.

Let me take you down
Cause I'm going to strawberry fields
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hung about
Strawberry fields forever

Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see
It's getting hard to be someone
But it all works out
It doesn't matter much to me

Let me take you down
Cause I'm going to strawberry fields
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hung about
Strawberry fields forever

No one I think is in my tree
I mean it must be high or low
That is you know you can't tune it
But It's all right
That is I think it's not too bad

Let me take you down
Cause I'm going to strawberry fields
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hung about
Strawberry fields forever

Always know sometimes it's me
But you know I know when it's a dream
I think a "No" will mean a "Yes"
But it's all wrong
That is I think I disagree

Let me take you down
cause I'm going to strawberry fields
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hung about
Strawberry fields forever
Strawberry fields forever
strawberry fields forever
- Strawberry Fields Forever, Beatles

Some people asked me why I post a lot of songs on my blog. They are up here because I am feeling affected and the songs explain exactly how I feel. Strawberry Fields Forever..most favourite from my most revered band.

Oh well.

(I lost count on how many times I sigh-ed while doing this entry.)

Doctor Jones Doctor Jones

Part Playful Kisser

Kissing is a huge game for you, a way to flirt and play
You're the first one to suggest playing spin the bottle at a party
Or you'll go for the wild kiss during a game of truth or dare
And you're up for kissing any sexy stranger if the mood is right!

Part Romantic Kisser

For you, kissing is all about feeling the romance
You love to kiss under the stars or by the sea
The perfect kiss involves the perfect mood
It's pretty common for kisses to sweep you off your feet

Strange. I am more of a not-getting-any kind of kisser.

After a tiring Friday, where we ended up at Kaki 5 after dinner at Banquet, my Saturday was less sedated. Went to the lunch gathering and met Caimo, Siang Boon and of course Medy, who flew back to Singapore because her son broke his leg while playing rugby. The lunch was also to "celebrate" Thiam Beng's departure. It was a hilarious makan session, thanks to Uncle bert and Roy. Crazy buggers, they were.

After that, they went for karaoke and Dear, CY and I decided to pop down. We ended up staying there till 1900hrs and singing ourselves hoarse. Roy was making us laugh ... until my tummy ached! Then after karaoke, Bets, Sally, Siang Boon and I went to Bismi stall and had our prata dinner..

ANyway...

Yeah, it's sucky. THere's nothing that interests me in today's RECRUIT. A bit depressing. Instead, i found jobs which were suitable for others. ANd like that is not depressing enough, I switched on the computer only to find my monitor screen has turned yellow. Yes, yellow.

Man, misfortune always falls one after another.

Fuck...I'm kinda depressed now.

Blah!

A thousand times goodnight, sodomites.

This old man he plays one...

Chewing gum is really gross
Chewing gum I hate the most
-
Willy Wonka

Reading up on Roald Dahl is simply inspiring. I think I have a new (dead) idol.

Like a sugar rush to the head, a lot of childhood memories come flooding back. It was 1990 and at 10 years old, I was at the peak of my childhood. You know, wise enough to know things but still, charmingly innocent. I was the athlete, the musician, the *ahem* cultured dancer, the perfect Primary 4 pupil. But then it all got to my head and my studies went downhill but ah, the social life was soaring.

Anyway,

It was that year I was introduced to the magic of Roald Dahl, thanks to Mrs Tan Ah Moi. It was a natural progress from reading Dr. Seuss and Enid Blyton. First, it started with The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach and then Mrs Tan recommended a harder read of Boy and Going Solo. But thanks to my younger brother (who used to read), I laid my hands on Danny the Champion of the World. This is the story I’ve read countless of time. In fact, this is my most frequently read book ever.

The story that made me enjoy eating birds. Hah!

Mrs Tan made us write to Roald Dahl that year. It was after our final exam period. Or was it slightly before the exams? I cant remember. I remember I wrote how happy I was reading his books and how he was just like my grandma who passed away in June that year. If I am not wrong, I asked him how he got his inspiration and when could he come to Singapore. I cant remember if the letter was sent to him at all by Mrs Tan or not. I know there wasn’t any reply. A few months later, Roald Dahl passed away.

Of course I was quite sad. After reading all his books I could find (the ones that a child could handle), I figured it was time I moved on. So I searched for the next writer…going through a lot phases along the way – Louisa May Alcott (Little Women), L.M. Montgomery (Anne of Green Gable), Charles Dickens (or “Darles Chickens” as my brother used to call him) (Oliver Twist), Johanna Spyri (Heidi) and many more. As you can see, I am a great fan of classics. After searching for quite a while, I found a replacement. The name is Samuel Clemens.

Or Mark Twain.

And The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn continues to be my best novel ever.

Mentioning which…I think I should read it again.

I seem to have an obsession with dead old man. Colonel Sanders might be one, too.

Oh well.

P/S: I wrote a letter to the former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew when I was 9, wishing him a happy birthday. I addressed it to the Istana. I didn’t get any reply. That built up my tolerance for rejection.

Haha. Loser.

I'm a Friday fly girl

Don't think sorry's easily said
Don't try turning tables instead
You've taken lots of chances before
But I'm not gonna give anymore
Don't ask me
That's how it goes
Cause part of me knows what you're thinkin'

Don't say words you're gonna regret
Don't let the fire rush to your head
I've heard the accusation before
And I ain't gonna take any more
Believe me
The sun in your eyes
Made some of the lies worth believing

I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see any more
To know that
I can read your mind
I can read your mind

Don't leave false illusions behind
Don't cry cause I ain't changing my mind
So find another fool like before
Cause I ain't gonna live anymore believing
Some of the lies while all of the signs are deceiving

I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see any more
To know that
I can read your mind
I can read your mind - Eye In The Sky, Alan Parsons Project

Mysteries of life I seek
Blinding darkness I creep
Inspiring light I walk
Rejuvenating hope I dream
Memorable traces I leave

At the ripe old age of 25, I am here. My life would have been so much more meaningful if I had taken other chances. It could have been much worse. Did I miss an opportunity somewhere?

There are so many things I want to do and yet, there are so many things I cannot. There are so many mountains I want to climb and there are so many seas I want to swim across but I have to wait. Wait for the right time and the right place and maybe, the right companion.

Do you have a vision or a picture that can give you an instant gratification?

I have.

I imagine myself a wild child of the forest. There’s a swing made up of forest vines hanging off a huge raintree, which is on top of a cliff in a lush jungle. Ignoring if it can bear my weight (well, it’s a perfect vision after all), I’ll swing carefree-ly, a la Nell. wearing a flowy white dress and with my feet bare. The swing will rock me over the cliff and I’ll lay back and let my long hair fly into the wind. I’ll look down and see a magnificent waterfall, cascading its sweetness into a cool turquoise pool. I’ll swing…and I’ll swing until I am ready to take that leap of faith into the pool.

That, my friends, is my perfect vision.

You know at the end of every yoga class, we have to lie down and think of relaxing thoughts. I ALWAYS have that vision in my mind. I will lie peacefully with a smile on my face until the part where I jump into the pool. Then suddenly my body will break out into a mini spasm. Lucky the swinging takes a long time and even if I do convulse, thank God, Deepak has never seen it.

Oh well.

There's dinner with Wee Wee tonight. Chin Yin and Wai Keong are going to be there too. I still dont know where we are going. Somewhere really cheap, please!

Later.

More travel opportunities but...

I’ve got a media invitation to Thailand by a paper company…thanks to Kokker’s former employer. See what contacts can do for you. Now, all I need is my boss’ approval. Oh well. She will definitely send those BIG shots. Fuck lah. This is my contact, sia. Now I regret telling my supervisor. I should have just replied to Fleishman Hillard personally, take 3 days leave and fly to Thailand. Now, I think it is fucked up. Ok fucking chee bye.

(1 hour later)

Confirmed. The Boss-Woman didn’t let me go. But, the Supervisor-Man told me this: Worse come to worse, we take leave and go. Hold on. Did he say, “we”? Firstly, about the “plan”, tell me something I don’t know (read first para) and secondly, “we”? I know the letter states “you and your fellow colleagues” but you want to go with me? Thirdly, you are bringing the marketing guy along? I mean, Nico is fun but erm, now you are making a joke out of this invite. Anyway, I am left with 6 days of leave. Anyway, with or without my supervisor and marketing account manager, I am set on going. So wow… Thailand in July.

Anyway…before I forget,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEONG MAY THENG!

And…HAPPY 27TH ANNIVERSARY TO MY NUTCASE PARENTS.Great dinner, man!

The training camp in Pulau Ubin was crazy and the heat was almost unbearable. We reached the campsite at about 0930hrs on Monday and we were already drained out. My school was logistic unit so we were the ones in-charge of amenities, food ration, tents and other miscellaneous stuff. And since it was the first time Area 3 was having 2 simultaneous camps (Sec 2s and 3s) in 2 campsites (Kg Bahru and Kg Noordin), we Logistic CIs (Richard, Zhilun, Shashita, Fuxiang and I) had to run up and down roughly 800m of tarred slopes pushing trolleys of food, blankets, jerry cans of water.

I’m kidding. We’ve got the cadets to push the trolleys.

Anyway, at 1500hrs I was told that the co-ordinator assigned me to the waters. In fact, all of the Mayflower CIs were in the waters, be it for kayaking or rafting. i wanted to be at the rafting side but a female instructor was more needed for kayaking. It was freaking hot but thank God for sunblock. I cant say the same thing for my hair though because wearing a visor didnt do any help. I need to get a nice cap man. I used to wear fisherman’s hats. Now I think they make me look retarded.

I am not really a certified kayakist (kayaker? kayakisian?) and I only kayak like what..less than 5 times a year. So naturally, I can be quite “gabrah” instructing others. Thank God no one was drowned though my single kayak almost overturned while I was paddling to this wayward double-seater kayak with 2 jokers on it.

Second day I was assigned to the Land Expedition team. Great..just great. Out in the hot sun for 2 sessions, bringing lethargic teenagers all around Ubin. Great. My partner was Serena, a very new, very fresh instructor from Chong Boon. She’s my sister’s age and they do know each other. Damn “Charlie Charlie Bravo” (errm..camp-talk there)..i really feel very old. But hah, not for long.

The land expedition was brain-frying. Yes, the canopy of a myriad of trees provided the shelter but walao eh, it was still burning. Add gigantic mosquitoes which wouldn’t leave you alone and unruly, lethargic kids. Boleh jadi gila! After the morning session, we headed back for lunch and then we resumed activities with another group of unruly and lethargic kids.

That night we had a barbecue. We had too much food and there were so little instructors (most on the other campsite at Noordin). So we had to stuff ourselves even though it was way past midnight. Chun Ping, the “food” instructor, bought live prawns and he threw them on the pits. Of course there was a lot of squirming by the prawns and a lot of shrieking by Aishah and me. But hah, they tasted good. Then we had a debrief which lasted until 0300hrs. Try going through that with a heavy stomach and heavier eyes. I fell asleep during the meeting. DUH!

Barely 3 hours later the Logistics CIs woke up to raise flag, prepare breakfast, cook green bean soup and of all things, eat pineapple cocktail. None of the other instructors were up. Damn, them. Sleeping so soundly in cool rooms. As it got brighter, work came hard and fast. By 1000hrs, we were out of the campsite and walking to the jetty.

I guess that summed up my Ubin adventure this year. Usually, there will be 2 sessions, one in June and the other in either November or December. But since HQ decides to combine both Sec 2s and 3s together, this will be my one and only Ubin camp this year. Unless, I want to go to the Area 2 ATC with Northbrooks in July.

Dough dearth comes early this June so I wont participate in the Great Singapore Sale. It’s ok. There will always be next time, right? Right now, I am kind of looking forward to the Thailand trip…even though it is a field trip to a paper factory. Well, it is paid for so I shall not complain. I’ve been moving a lot so far this year. And I have been having lots of fun (minus the chicken pox period) so much that I am neglecting my mission of finding a new job. Job. That reminds me: I need to ask Kelen when is my sponsored weekend stay at the Meridian Changi Village hotel.

Oh…I heard YG is sending an editor to Japan in November for an event. I am not a sucker for Japan BUT if you let me go, I promise I stay till then.

Why do I like to run away?

Empty spaces fill me up with holes
Distant faces with no place left to go
Without you within me I can’t find no rest
Where I’m going is anybody’s guess

I tried to go on like I never knew you
I’m awake but my world is half asleep
I pray for this heart to be unbroken
But without you all I’m going to be is incomplete

Voices tell me I should carry on
But I am swimming in an ocean all alone
Baby, my baby, it’s written on your face
You still wonder if we made a big mistake

I try to go on like I never knew you
I’m awake but my world is half asleep
I pray for this heart to be unbroken
But without you all I’m going to be is incomplete

I don’t mean to drag it on
But I can’t seem to let you go
I don’t want to make you face this world alone
I want to let you go

I try to go on like I never knew you
I’m awake but my world is half asleep
I pray for this heart to be unbroken
But without you all I’m going to be is incomplete
- Incomplete, Backstreet Boys

I thought they were dead, along the likes of Take That and NKOTB. But ah, like phoenix rising from the ashes, they are back. Anyway, this song…ouch.

Later.

P/s: Yes..my MSN has a virus. Will TRY to rectify it tonight. If I cant, I guess, it’s time my MSN go like my Friendster…to obscurity.

Off to Pulau Ubin...

"What do single girls do?"

Hmmm...I dont know. I tried to fly but I couldnt. I tried to walk on water but it didnt work. I tried to keep a pet, but I killed my terrapins. I tried to date but it ended in a catastrophe. So..I stick to what singles (and everyone else for that matter)do: eat, sleep, shop, work, play, watch movies, travel, breathe, shit, piss, bitch with fellow singles, listen to non-singles lament about their supposedly better halves...all those things minus less fucking and truck loads of freedom, i guess.

Your Sexy Brazilian Name Is

Stephania Cavalcanti

Kaka, here i come.

You can reach me by railway
You can reach me by trailway
You can reach me on an airplane
You can reach me with your mind
You can reach me by caravan
Cross the desert like an Arab man
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can

You can reach me by sail boat
Climb a tree and swing rope to rope
Take a sled and slide down the slope
Into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedy colt
Cross the border in a blaze of hope
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can

There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
If I had my way, surely you would be closer
I need you closer
- Get Here, Oleta Adams

My my...a few days of being "inland" and yet no new entries. tsk tsk tsk. It's unbecoming indeed. Well, let me lamely blame the ageing pc...kind of s.l.o.w and that's off-putting.

Mail, I am sorry to hear about the demise. I'm sure he's a great guy. My condolences to you and family.

Met Weiling, Clara and Noreen on Friday...had been quite a while since we caught up with one another. Yeah, everyone's pretty busy, i guess. Anyway Noreen and Clara helped Weiling mind her kids that day. They brought them to an animal farm somewhere in Seletar. Was quite tempted to join them but the thought of waking up early on an "mc day" was not really desirable. Liah couldnt join us because she already made plans with her loverboy. So the girls picked me up and we headed to Outram because Noreen wanted to go to this travel agency. After that, we slowly made our way to Tanglin Mall. The girls were feeling generous (ok fine..they were being thoughtful and great, as usual) and treated me to dinner. Noreen brought us to Oaks, this cosy restaurant with great ambience and food [read: pricey]. We had pasta ..mussels, clams, scallops...abs lovely!

We stayed there for quite a while...heh, to justify the long walk from Scotts Road, i guess. After that, Noreen and Weiling took a cab back home while Clara and I walked down to Orchard MRT. After walking her to the station, I met Lauren and SHa. We ended up chatting till 0400++hrs in Swensenzzzzzzzz....

Naturally, I woke up late for NPCC few hours later. Why did I even go to bed? Was supposed to meet Meiling at 0700 but i woke up at 0730hrs instead. Anyway, training was good as usual. The disappointing bit was the kids' attendance. Many Sec 1 girls have begun to stay away from training. Fine. Quit now, quitters. Chickens. Oh well, it's awrite. We dont need people like you anyway.

Oh kids like these are usually Malays. They came, they saw, they left. Why? Because they cant "lepak" and chat crap during training. And oh, it's probably because I disallowed them from wearing jewellery and colourful and halterneck bras. I dont need to see your bra strap. I once snapped a cadet's bra strap which was irritatingly showing at the back of her neck. I cant help it. It was a natural reaction.

Nightime was funtime. Dear, CY, Lauren and I went to ChinaBlack (ignore the crowd..they suck everywhere). It was awrite though at some parts, the laidback rnb was kind of too slow to dance to. It didnt matter cause my "Jay Chou" was there.

Hehehehehehehehehehehe.

I brought them to my prata hangout at Orchard Plaza and we stayed there till almost 5. THen we all hobbled..stumbled..fumbled back home.

Oh before i forget...

HAPPY 27TH BIRTHDAY, KAKAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess we have to celebrate it belated-ly.

Anyway,

I guess it's the end of another chapter. I'm sure it was one ride you will never forget; no matter how hellish it got. But eventually, you will leave the memories behind and move on. The first few months are the hardest I know, but slowly, you'll get over it. Leave the memories behind but forget them not. They will serve you well in future relationships. I figure with every heartbreak, one learns more about one self. One will have a clearer picture of what one wants and what one will look for. It is not the end then. Your love life is just about to take off again.

But then again, I have only been head-over-heels-and-over-everything-else in love only twice. I'm also known to give bad advice. I guess, you have to seek the words of others too. But hey, you know I love you and wish you all the happiness one can have.

(I was going to put BSB's Incomplete BUT i find it a bit contradicting right now. Kevin, I still love you though.)

When it's over
That's the time I fall in love again
And when it's over
That's the time you're in my heart again
And when you go go go go
I know, it never ends, never ends

All the things that I used to say
All the words that got in the way
All the things that I used to know
Have gone out the window
All the things that she used to bring
All the songs she used to sing
All the favorite TV shows
Have gone out the window

I'm missing you
I never knew how much you loved me
I'm missing you
I never knew how much you meant to me
I need you and when you go go go go
I know, it never ends, never ends

All the things that I used to say
All the words that got in the way
All the things that I used to know
Have gone out the window
All the things that she used to bring
All the songs she used to sing
All the favorite TV shows
Have gone out the window
- When It's Over, Sugar Ray

Fine fine. I have to pack my bag. Am leaving for my annual Adventure Training Camp at Pulau Ubin in 3 hours' time.

Till then, a thousand times goodnight Soho bohos.

2-day MC

Got a 2-day mc man...weird or just plain lucky?

anyway Carrie Underwood won American Idol IV. I dont know man..I prefer Bo but Carrie's fine too, i guess.

After watching live telecast of Idol this morning, i finally hobbled to the clinic. The metatarsal bone was at it again, man. And constipation...again. After that, i went to the bank and finally got my new card and passbook. Did i go back after that? NO. I went to catch Star Wars III instead. Good man..good.

I watched Madagascar with my sis last night. Some special premiere happening and the penguins and lion were there - life-size. Pity i didnt have any camera. ANyway, the movie was a hoot BUT strangely, very forgettable. I dont know...i still like SpongeBob SquarePants. Maybe, i am just weird.

Okay..got to attend a camp meeting.

Later.
