Will you marry me?

Quite a lame day at work today. Idaho and I had our usual Saturday McDees' breakfast and when we got back to the office, we read the papers, discussed a bit about work, chatted about our childhood, traumatic fashion experiences during adolescence and many more. Suddenly...it was already 1400hrs!

Took a slow walk to Singapore Arts Museum. Sun was a-blazing and I was singing Duffy's Mercy all the way. What had I done wrong to deserve this heat, my Lord?

Okay. Ssh.
That's rhetorical.

Lauren and Ah Lian (Lauren calls her colleague this so I'm just stating the fact) had their Flea-tique flea market spot in the courtyard under the Tuscan ruthless sun. By the time I got there, Lao Lee was already sunburnt and Ah Lian looked like she would just keel over and melt into the ground. Me, in black, was next.

Sha and Alfie popped by to pass me ice cream and also to play a bit of catch-up. Always nice to see friends. Anyway, I left at about 1830hrs and took a bus home. A couple of hours later, I made my way to Din's place to catch up with the groom.

Din the Groom (left) and Fifi the Bitchy Bridesmaid :)

I didnt manage to see Chee Kiong and Shadiq. Kiong left earlier to fetch his wife who is at her sister's. Damn...cant get to see them tomorrow either. Urgh, I hate myself.

Anyway, we sat at the void deck for quite a while. The void deck, like in any typical Malay wedding, was nicely decorated. Fifi said that earlier in the day at Rohaidah's place, the decor was set as if it was a catwalk/model's runway. He said there was some fancy furry decoration and everything..."Like Victoria's Secret fashion runway!" he said.

Shiteous. Then I spent 2 traumatic seconds imagining Din with VS wings. Ah, the blasphemy!

Met Din's parents who urged me to fake a sickness and screw work. I wish I can but you know I cant. Anyway, I am sending "representatives" later - the parents and the uncle. Again, wish I can see the merriment first-hand later. I mean, Din-Rohaidah's courtship is legendary (13-14 years? Madness, right!) and it will be a sweet deal to see them both up the dais finally. Dah kahwin anak Wak Salim!

Okay, I shall not dwell on my absence.

Time is 0645hrs now. I just woke up 2 hours ago after concussing on the floor when I got back from Din's. Need to get to work in 2 hours' time. The sheer audacity in calling me back on a Sunday when there is no designated class...shame on you, Mr Burns.

Think I'll go and lie down again.

Selamat pengantin baru, Khairudin & Rohaidah!

Shaddap you face

It has been 12 days since I returned from New York City. Kind of missing it a little. Just a little. How I wish I had more time...then I can visit the Malcom Shabazz mosque, NYU, Columbia University, Julliard School, the Met again, Yankees game, Apollo Theatre, Bronx Zoo, Greenwich Village, Madison Square Garden, NYC Opera & Philharmonic and many many more, I guess.

More pictures and reviews to come, once I have pictures from Rae and Clara. Hang on in there.

..
..

Was on afternoon shift today cause I was supposed to have some orientation with in the evening. Came to school and was supposed to mark these:

Students' film/scriptwriting assignments

Instead I spent the whole afternoon munching junk and surfing.

Okay, nonsense.
Brain drain, I tell you.

Anyway, when I got home, the sister (with utmost glee) eagerly showed me something off The New Paper. I almost choked to death.

I have no idea if it's a Malay dialect word but..yeah, "Puki" is a common term for the woman's woohoo, you know, the punani. So, kueh puki is well, a vajayjay treat, no?

Okay.

Weird.

Shall go sleep...Saturday at work looms. Shall go visit Lauren at The Singapore Arts Museum for her flea market thingy.

Thousand times goodnight fleas, bees and zzzs.

P/S: Shutterfly has gone through a facelift and somehow I cant post pictures here without having the irritating border. Is there a way to combat this?

P/P/S: The orientation was cancelled at the last minute because there werent any new students for me. Then a few of my colleagues dragged me to supper and so, we took a cab to Lao Pa Sat. Burp.

Moscow nights

Chyort voz'mi!

Woke up just in time to catch David Silva's goal and now...it's all over.

Zavali yebalo and go back to sleep.

P/S: Gonna root for Germany to win and having said that...Spain will go on and win the title. Prove me wrong, sooka.

Everybody nose

Still in office. Did a 12-hr today.
Somehow I feel smarter and more productive when the sun sets.

Football again tonight and I think prior to that, I need to do some serious reading tonight, in preparation to the coming new school term. I need to read up on my Literary/Authorship and Culture & Power for the uni classes, and Representation Media for my proprietary class. Need to recap my Film Studies and Pop Culture knowledge as well cause I'll be teaching these 2 again.

The sound of it is madness and I'm left with one more week to do this.

How great is life.

Home.

###

Just breathe

Just done with the departmental meeting.

Three words: Death by paperwork.

I am sitting on a big rock with beautiful flowers in my hair. Angel Falls behind me. Sway to the rhythm of nature. Salute the sun. Breathe deeply. Close my eyes. Just breathe. Breathe. Beauty. Nature. Water. Breathe.

At one with the sun
With the breeze
With the water
With the trees
With the moon
With the stars
With all the love in the world.

Breathe.
Breathe.
Breathe.

###

Give it to me!

I found it!

Oh sweet memories.

P/S: Slightly cheered. Slightly.

###

Inconsolable

Game over.

Turkey lost.

Telecast/transmission fucked me up big time.

Big time.

###

Monkey wrench

Damn cheebye.

Thanks to breakdown of transmission, we missed 2 goals (Turkey and Germany). Then it came alive at 88thminute and Germany scored.

Now 89th minute, transmission broke down again.

Nabei..kanina..chee bye.

Uber pissed off.

###

Hard to handle

What the fuck??

The screen just froze. It has been "freezing" for about more than 5 minutes now.

Oye!!!

Refund!

###

Interstate love song

GOAL TURKEY!!!!!

It's the 22nd minute and Turkey (Ugur Boral) just scored.

I am not big on Germany winning this game though technically, they are the bigger of the two. Plus, have you heard about the crisis that plagued Turkey?

DAMN.
Germany just scored (26th minute).
Damn that Schweinsteiger.

Not big to see Joachim Loew's men advancing but I am not sure if Fatih Terim's team can hold on. This is one match where I dont mind enduring till the penalty shootouts. Maybe Turkey will have luck there.

Since Holland and Italy are out of contention, I'd like to see Turkey and Russia in the finals, with Russia nailing it. Russia look really hot now. We'll see tomorrow.

Now that I have predicted my possible finale, Turkey and Russia will most probably lose their semi-final games. Look what happened to my Holland, Italy and Portugal predictions.

Damn. Maybe I should predict a Germany-Spain finale.

Gag.

I cant do it.

P/S: Oh who's that cutie? Hmm..hello referee!

Don't disturb the ladybug

Another one of my students' short Advertising assignments.

Drama Queen

I’m not collegial, I don’t hang out.
I’m soloist, I like my solitude.

'Twas a little Moonie gathering last night where we had dinner and then we adjourned to a nearby Starbucks. Susan was talking to Nani, Lauren was talking to Jay and Jo. Sean was minding his own business and I had little chats with Grace. Suddenly, in true Hitchcock dramatic cinematography fashion, I was sucked into a vacuum.

I became like a floating soul looking down onto the group.
All I can say is that it isnt pretty.
Maybe it's just me.
I wasnt really in the mood to talk.
Maybe, there's nothing to talk about really.

Life is noisy enough for me to talk, no?

We all parted ways 2 hours later. After alighting at AMK MRT station, somehow Lauren and I lingered at the station and found a place to sit. We had our post-NYC review there for 1.5 hours.

..
..
..

Mentioning talk...

The good friend called me from Jakarta last Monday night and it sure was nice to hear from her. We talked for an hour and after the chat I got so tired, I fell asleep in front of the TV.

I think the good friend and I are missing each other. At least on my part, I am. It's hard to get people who are on the same wavelength and when you do find one, I tell you, you have to guard it with dear life. Oh well.

So yeah...back to the good friend. Something cheesed her off and she needed to talk it out and hence, the long distance phone call. Quite dramatic and emotional. Hah, typical Liah stuff :)

Heh.

Oh well.

I have rage burning in me for the longest time and it just went a notch higher a couple of hours ago.

Firstly, Idaho told me about the stupid cabby she had yesterday who, thinking that she was a Chinese, went on a rampage of criticising the Malays - "Singapore dont like Malays," he said.

Secondly, VietCong told me that I had to attend this workshop by the principal ("Mr Burns") and VP ("Mary Poppins") this Sunday in school...morning till late afternoon!

Thirdly, attending the workshop means I cant go to Din's fucking wedding!!! ARGH! I fucking hate myself and Mr Burns and Mary Poppins and VietCong and everybody else. I have been looking forward to his wedding celebrations for years months.

And there's another point which makes me boiling mad but I have to shut my trap here. And censorship makes me angrier.

Yes, I am an angry person.
The angrier I get, the quieter I become.
Fuck all this shit.

I think something drastic is coming.I can feel it.

P/S: Din...*sniff* I cant attend.

The air that I breathe

Excuse me.
Here's another George Carlin classic.

This man, not my parents, made me who I am today so please bear with me.

My sentiments exactly.

P/S: Jason Woo, I think you will like him too. Carlin, that is.

###

America the beautiful

My most favourite comedian, my numero uno maestro, the big kahuna, has died. It is a piece of sad news for all the demented people in the world. Our hero is gone.

With humoured grief, I hope you rest in demented piece, George Carlin.

George Carlin

I remember being introduced to him when I was 20. I was an eager radio enthusiast who spent most of her time in the dusty Rediffusion record library, digging for gems of LPs, 16s and 45s. One day, the boss gave me a mission of sourcing for Dr Demento and his records.

After that, I had to sit through hours of uncensored (Cheech & Chong!) radio comic skits, record them on minidisks (censor bits if I had to) and then create a radio show where I could incorporate all these funnies. I was hooked on one George Carlin and I never turned back.

This is one guy who successfully made me stay clear of tomatoes (for a period of time) because he likened them to little wheels. "No one eats wheels so why should I? If you look close enough, you see little people cycling those wheels. No way am I going to eat them!" he said.

And oh, all the vulgarities he taught me over the airwaves.
Respect!

With his demise, part of my "trippy-hippy"ness dies a little too.

But hey, at least there will be laughter now in hell.

Burn them, Carlin.

Warwick Avenue

When I get to Warwick Avenue...
Meet me by the entrance of the tube.
We can talk things over, a little time...
Promise me you won't step outta line.

When I get to Warwick Avenue...
Please drop the past and be true.
Don't think we're okay, just because I'm here...
You hurt me bad, but I won't shed a tear.

I'm leaving you for the last time baby...
You think you're loving but you don't love me.
I've been confused outta’ my mind lately...
You think you're loving but I want to be free.
Baby you've hurt me.

When I get to Warwick Avenue...
We'll spend an hour, but no more than two.
Our only chance to speak, once more...
I showed you the answers, now here's the door.

When I get to Warwick Avenue...
I'll tell you baby, that we're through.

I'm leaving you for the last time baby...
You think you're loving but you don't love me.
I've been confused outta’ my mind lately...
You think you're loving but you don't love me.
I want to be free, baby you've hurt me.

All the days spent together, I wished for better,
But I didn't want the train to come.
Now it's departed,
I'm broken hearted, seems like we never started.
All the days spent together, when I wished for better,
And I didn't want the train to come

You think you're loving but you don't love me.
I want to be free, baby you've hurt me.
You don't love me,
I want to be free,
Baby you've hurt me.

It's humanly flawed. Nice one, Duffy.

###

Who the fuck?

Dont bug me cause I'm slightly pissed off. Oh dont you worry. It will escalate into a full blown one by the end of the day.

No, it's not because the Italianos are out of Euro.
They all can die for all I care today.

Apparently, the management thinks that I am still new enough to be sent into the staff orientation programme. So today, at 1430hrs, I will have to sit through mindless orientation shit; corporate videos, mission statement, toomuchcrap and everything alike.

Yeah. Here's a big CHAO CHEE BYE to you. How is it that you did not think that I was new enough to develop a unit/module? To do this? To do that? Fuck you. Today's the deadline for marking? Fuck you. I'm new. Fuck you. Therefore, I'm slow. Fuck you.

Fuck every last one of you.
Go die a painful death in adminstrative hell.

Argh!!

..
..
..

On another note, I encountered something dumb/mind-boggling last night as I was lying down on the floor, welcoming Monday in the most tormented manner. The phone beeped so I stretched for it.

An unknown number.
I hate unknown sets of numbers.

XX: Wahaha hows ya day? [Why would a stranger start a msg with a "Wahaha"?!]
Ed: Who is this?
XX: XXX here! Haha
Ed: Bah.. I thot who
[I still dont have a clue by the way]
XX: Wahaha tml having class rite? haha
Ed: Nah no class
XX: Haha so good? Where u stay now?
Ed: Amk...?
XX: Sama sama now. school holidays so no class rite haha
Ed: Yea but still have to go to school
XX: Haha seems so fun eh haha ya ya wan to have dinner hmmm like wed thurs?
Ed: Am on late shift this whole week. Next week?
XX: Haha still shift one ah? Ok ok next tues or wed ah haha arrange with u again
Ed: Awritey

Then it hit me. I only know 2 XXs in my life and even then, both are just acquaintances. I havent seen 1 like forever (4 years) and the other was a former NPCC cadet whom I bumped into few months back. Nope. I dont hang out with them.

So yes, a couple of minutes later I asked.

Ed: Wait...u are not by chance an insurance agent now rite?
XX: Currently with prudential eh ha but no la no intention to share with u anything lei haha cos long time haven catch up then tot of having dinner! Wa muz have a lot of people come find u haha
[Notice the long defensive reply???]
Ed: Yeah man
XX: Haha no worries la just eat haha no work gee

"Gee"? Basket.

Dont "gee" me, okay. I know what is your intention. I must have hit it straight on ... or you are just a freaking giggly boy who likes to go "haha" at every chance.

Okay, if I'm wrong, pray tell why the sudden desire to seek me out? Is this a "My Name is Earl" moment? Eh, whatever mistakes you did to me, I've forgiven you. So yes, go live your life, be free.

Stupid fucking Monday.

###

Faith alone

It's still 0-0 (60th minute) now. I cannot take it anymore. The late nights are killing me and it's not like I can sleep the days away. At this rate, I dont care if Italy win this or not. Someone should just fucking score and get it over and done with. Another extra time session and *gasp* god forbid, penalty shootout will just make me go mad.

Of course I can choose to sit it out.

But the last time I did, Turkey and Croatia had a damn dramatic game and I kicked myself for not watching it.

...
...
...

My plans of chilling out and doing the occasional marking and cleaning up at home were thwarted. Yesterday was spent celebrating Lexie Grey's birthday and in the evening, I was too shagged out to do anything. Plus, I thought I had Sunday to recuperate.

How wrong.

Fell asleep on the couch after waching the Dutch blunder of a match. Yeah, couldnt gather enough energy to make it to the bedroom so I just stayed put and slept. The next thing I knew, it was almost noon.

The mother then dragged me to my relatives' houses (3!) because she needed to extend the invitation to the brother's wedding. By the time I got home, it was 2200hrs. I am just done with clearing the mess on my bed. Well, partially at least. The clothes had been occupying more than half of my bed so yes, I am tired of sleeping in a curled-up prawn-like manner.

Anyway...while busy putting clothes together, mix and matching for the coming office days, I was distracted by a video that the father was watching. So I peeped out and well, got hooked.

It was Ahmed Deedat giving one of his powerful speeches against Jimmy Swaggart. Comparative religion and theology being one of those topics I am greatly interested in, of course I dumped the clothes and watched the video instead. As a result, I still have to curl on my bed tonight. What the hell...

Dammit. It's still goalless. Work in 4 hours' time. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

A thousand times goodnight, believers and faith-healers.

P/S: I lugged work home only to lug it back to work again untouched.

Rock me Amadeus

Of course by now we know what happened to the Dutch. They got stoned.

Unbelievable.

So now, Germany will meet Turkey (Germs for me) and Russia will meet either Italy or Spain.

Tonight, I'll be rooting for the Azzuris and then, I expect them to get Vodka-ed by the Russians next week.

My finale will be Germany versus Russia now...with Germany winning it.

It's just my guus.

###

Definitely maybe

And van Nistelrooy equalises!!!!!!!!!

With 5 more minutes to go, it is almost definitely going to be extra time.

Ooh interesting!

###

Pass the duchie on the left hand side

And the Russians went on to score.

Man, the Dutch are sure cursed.

###

Tonight the bottle let me down

Damn the Russians are looking good. At times,I thought van der Sar would be defeated.

Sheesh...maybe Hiddink's men can really win Euro.
Sheesh, maybe it's going to be a Russia - Italy final.

I've been really tired. Been sleeping early (well, earlier at least)before midnight only to wake up at 0245hrs everyday. I just have one more week to go. Just one more week..

Oh oh 2nd half.

###

Every rose has its thorns

I dont know if I should be surprised or not. Though he is brilliant in what he does, Cristiano Ronaldo has never been one of my favourites. The fact that Fergie mollycoddles him kind of disgusts me sometime.

Read here.

So go, Ronnie. I dont like to have players who dont give 100%, especially those whose intention is to be a Galactico. I rather see Man U placed lower than Liverpool than to have such players.

My only regret is to have Fergie saying he would leave should this idiot go. I mean, hello, you still have Rooney, Evra, Hargreaves and the whole gang. What's up with the favouritism, old man?

Men and their balls!

###

The buffalo tapes (my so-called friends)

Portugal is out.

Should have seen that coming.

A Germany vs Holland final will be boring, no?

###

Thursday, June 19, 2008

Pour some sugar on me

Yummy yummy screw, anyone?

Walk this way.

Or maybe, this way.

###

'Til you do me right

Am having a freaking headache. Think it is the lack of sleep and the jetlag kicking in. Lack of proper sleep is due to the changing time zone and also...Euro, oh bloody Euro.

Mentioning Euro, Team Ikea couldnt win the important match against Russia early this morning and as a result, have to take an early flight out. Joining them, albeit different flight, are the former title-holder Greeks. Ah, not forgetting the toasted French of course.

Tonight will be another cruncher. Portugal versus Germany. I am rooting for Portugal to win this just because I want to see a Portugal vs Netherlands finale. That will be a good one. More sleepless nights till then...

Who's the biatch now?

Had a badminton session with a few colleagues last night at Yio Chu Kang and well, after not playing for more than a year now (has it been that long, Moonies?), boy I sure was rusty and lethargic. Terrible. By the end of the 1st hour, my right arm was not feeling its usual self. Great.

Anyway...

Yesterday I was told that I might have to teach Literary Appreciation for next uni semester. Oh my. I have to teach, among Woodsworth's and Coleridge's stuff, 2 books - Aunt Julia & the Scriptwriter and The Lover. The latter was made into a movie in 1992 starring Tony Leung and Jane March. Uh huh, that erotic steamy one about a 15-year-old French girl and her sexual awakening with a 32-year-old Chinese dude.

Now, where can I find the erotic exotic artistic film?

So yes, I'm going to talk about erotica in class. What's next? Story of O? Boy, I sure have come (hah!) a long way from teaching Shakerspeare's abridged versions of Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth in Mandarin.

"San ge lao nu ren.
Da men hen evil.
Sha sha sha!
Hen duo xie, hen duo xie!"

Pure madness.

..
..
..

Rewind many many days ago, on the 1st of June, Meiling and I started the Sunday with a morning free screening of Get Smart. It's entertaining in a typical formulaic way. Steve Carell is charming so hey, no love lost.

After that we both met Sharinah at Marina Square to celebrate her birthday. Girlfriend turned 30 recently and we headed to Sakae Sushi to give her a lunch treat.

Yes, Ed ate sushi that day. Wooooo.

Yes, I managed to stay clear of seaweed, sashimi, salmon and squid by eating everything else. Oh, and lots of edamame. Peas....

Meiling gave Sharinah a necklace with a 4-leaf clover pendant for luck. After lunch, we made our way to the Singapore Flyer...erm, my birthday present for her.

Hope you had a good time.

After Singapore Flyer, we hopped over to Esplanade and had some ice cream down at Haagen Dazs. Soon I had to fly cause I was meeting the Moonies down at Serangoon Road to celebrate Grace's birthday.

But more on that later.

It's almost 1400hrs and I need to start on work!

###

What's love got to do with it?

Remember back in 1999 when I took Scripwriting and created a "gem" of a masterpiece? Who would know that after 9 years, it is slowly taking shape? What a scary travesty.

I..I..

It's beyond me.

###

The day we caught the train

Argh!
Tak bawak.
Macam bodoh, kan?

"And then the nightmares come
And you get blown away
And up in your room your walls are cold
You find your head is holding out
For the welcome of a better day

And then the nightmares come
And you get blown away
And up in your room
Your walls are getting colder
Like you're getting on a roller coaster
You can't find the breaks

When you're giving everything away
Everybody lets you pay
You're saving up for a better day
Seeing things in a better way

When you know you've got to live
There's nothing you wont give
To hear the phone and not let it ring
Every Monday morning"
[Better Day, Ocean Colour Scene]

Oh well.

###

Orange Blossom Special

Have been missing out on Euro and now...am taking my revenge now by trying to catch up with as much football articles and post-match reviews as possible. And oh, trying to catch as many matches as I can. Am watching my first two right now - Holland vs Romania & France vs Italy. Yes, am flipping channels like nobody's business. Manually, mind you.

Holland and Italy. Both are moving on.
Good to see that the 2 teams I think can wing it, wing it.
Yes, am rooting for either Pays Bas or Azzuris to win, ya'll.
Go Huntelaar!

Well well.

On a more disgusting note,it just hit me that SingFest is going to happen during the brother's wedding weekend of 2-3 Aug 08. Like..WHAT THE FUCK!!!

Oh freaking come on!

This only means that on the 2nd, I am going to miss Travis (again? what the hell!) and on 3rd, I am going to miss Jamie Scott, Panic At The Disco and get this...Jason fucking Mraz (yet again!?).

Brother: Fuck! I am going to miss New Found Glory because it's my fucking wedding!
Ed: Huh? What? SingFest?
Brother: Yeah on my wedding weekend.
Sister: I dont care. I want to watch NFG on Saturday.
Ed: What?? I cant catch Travis!
Brother: Well...unless you want to go of course.
Ed: Mother will kill me, right? Maybe can say I have work.
Brother: ARGH!
Ed: But...Sunday is confirm cannot go.
Brother: SHUT UP!
Ed: You mean...I have to miss Jason Mraz again?
Brother: He was here before?
Ed: I was in Timor when he came for Mosaic.
Brother: Hah! Travis?
Ed: They came together with Coldplay.
Brother: That was long time ago.
Ed: I know...I didnt like Coldplay and I was broke back then.
Brother: Fuck SingFest.

Then I tried my luck.

Ed: Can you postpone your wedding?

Guess we all know the answer.

A thousand times goodnight, dejected wannabe-SingFesties.

Three little words

My HR personnel will be the death of me.

Maybe, I can be the cause of her death.

Either way.

Vice versa.

..
..
..

But it's back to marking for now.

As for the updates, well, Snow White cant really read the SD card which has all the pictures. I guess after a hiatus, she cant really take the poking.

Ah well.

All the Critics Love U in New York

It's 0600hrs and I finally am getting the sleep buzz.
Yes, mama's back, ya'll.
With a bagful of itch and drama no less.

We were supposed to take flight home (via Vancouver, Hong Kong and finally home) last Saturday at 2300hrs (Singapore time Sunday 1100hrs) but there was a horrid storm and our flight to Vancouver was delayed till 0330hr. It was followed by another gruelling long flight to Hong Kong, reaching at 1140hrs Monday morning (Singapore time). After some transit break (again), we finally got home.

My back is breaking due to all those long hauls.
But ah, it's good to be home.

Quick recap though: Friday saw us scampering to American Natural History museum and then strolling down Central Park till evening. I also like to note here that I almost died (okay...too harsh. Bleed to death, maybe?) because I was attacked by a gaggle couple of ducks down by the pond at Central Park. My defence? Well I dont have any. It was mea culpa. And no...ducks are not my best friends now. I shall get my revenge by eating you. Damn you.

Lauren and I took our last night walk around Times Square after dinner while Rae and Clara got too tired to budge. Though I would miss the buzz and drama of this city that never sleeps (it's freaking true), I could not imagine being there for a couple of days more. I'd had enough and I wanted to go back to my "realm". And in my realm, services are more efficient, technology is more trustworthy and toilets are way cleaner. To think some people think that I am a 3rd world citizen. Hah!

Saturday saw us do our final stretch. We headed to the Grand Central (train) terminal, Chrysler Building, UN headquarters and walking the avenues. Did a last minute scramble around Times Square in the pouring rain. Soon it was time to bid the hostel farewell.

Awrite. The sun is waay up. I took half day today so will be coming to work in the afternoon. Shall go catch a few winks.

Pictures later.

P/S: Rae, Lauren + Clara, I accidentally threw away our list of "Most Dramatic Things that Happened During NYC Trip"!!!!

P/P/S: But then...who can forget the the Greyhound saga, the Amish (not Mormon) revisited, the Liberty fiasco, bystander Lysander stupidity and of course...the "Find the missing Lebanese" episode.

SOS

I am at Times Square Info Centre...totally panicking. I cant access my Internet banking system and now...have only $2 on me to last till tomorrow. Wow, so exciting!!

The last entry saw me stuck at Buffalo. Well, we finally left that god damn place at 1400hrs and reached Ontario (Niagara Falls) at 1530hrs. Niagara Falls was beautiful and our bed and breakfast place (Victoria Charm) was gorgeous - very old English cottagey. Alas, it was time to go back the next day at 2130hrs and guess what...the bus didnt come!!! Argh!

The next available bus was at 2300hrs and best, the station closed at 2230hrs. So for the next 30 minutes, we were stuck in the dead town outside. Seriously now...

Oh well.

Am meeting the girls at Central Park now. They had gone to MoMA in the morning...and I continued sleeping. I had been there before you see. So now...in my penniless state, I have to walk to Central Park to meet them sans breakfast, sans lunch. Ah, kurus aku. Bagus.

Awrite. Am taking the evening flight out NYC tomorrow to Hong Kong...badabing badabang will reach SIngapore Monday afternoon. bye.

Jesus went to NYC

I am in Buffalo, New York.
In a public library to be exact.
I am stranded.
The bus to Niagara Falls will only be here in 2 hours' time.
I should have reached there at 1100hrs.
This is how I got to be in Buffalo.
Listen...

Day 1 (Wed):

Day 7 (Tues)
Now we're talking. After checking out of the hostel, we headed to the bus terminal to make our way to Niagara Falls. The bus left promptly at 0115hrs (Tues) and we had our first stop at Syracuse (some God forsaken town) at about 0600hrs. The bus was supposed to leave at 0630hrs but ... our bus driver didnt turn up. Yup, somebody was on MC or MIA somewhere!

So we waited...and waited..and waited. At 0845hrs, another driver came aboard and took us to Rochester and ta-dah(!) Buffalo. Niagara is supposed to be the next stop but due to the 2 hours delay, we have missed our bus and the next one will only bere here at 1400hrs. Isnt it wonderful? Haha

So yeah, that's my holiday in a quickie. I am breaking out in rashes, no thanks to the searing and dry heat. It's hot as hell in here.

Anyway, New York is a cool country. But no, I wont want to live here. It's madness and it's noisy all the time. The skyscrapers are crazy and traffic is obnoxious. It is colourful, no doubt but I dont think I can last more than 10 years here.

Uh huh.

So yeah...am gonna be in Toronto (that's in Canada by the way) for the next day and after that, will head back to NYC again. Thursday I shall have my "me time" again cause the ladies wanted to go MoMA and I had gone there already. I would check out the Brooklyn Bridge or something...or the mosque maybe. Am so tempted to go Brooklyn or Harlem, but I was warned that I could get mugged, raped or shot. Not in any particular order :)

Friday will see me heading to Museum of Natural History (a la Ben Stiller in Night At The Museum!)and then again to Central Park to lepak. At night, I think we shall go up the Rockefeller Observatory Tower. Saturday...last minute stuff and then in the evening, it's time to head home, ya'll!

Okay.
This is long.

I am eager to go home. I am happy to be on holiday but I realise there are many things I need to do. When I was at MoMA, I was so inspired by the paintings and exhibits. All the Dalis, Picassos, Johns, Gauguins...very inspiring. The movie clips and sound bites were all inspiring. I had an influx of ideas on how to make things work. And I wanted to share with my students. I hope I can stay motivated and excited when I get back next week hah.

All right.
Time to go and do other stuff.

...like scratch my itch away...

Later!

P/S: Noreen, are you awrite?

P/P/S: Pictures will come later!

Hello!

Okay. 2.5 minutes at this terminal.

It has been lovely here in NY but damn...I feel like I've been here for years. We went to Ground Zero yesterday and well, not to sound rude or anything, it was fantastic. I mean...it was a tragic beauty. A sad splendour. In the evening, we caught CHICAGO on Broadway. After that the girls went to catch SATC while I had my "me" time" in the room.

On our 1st day, we headed to the Empire State Building and the view was marvellous.

Fuck got to go.

Later.

Saturday night at the movies

My students are very drama-mama. You can check out their hidden talents here. These are movie trailers produced by them for our Scriptwriting/Filmmaking class.

Considering that they dont have any filmmaking or scriptwriting experience and are just relying on my intelligent *ahem* advice, I must say...they are impressive.

Here's just a couple of them.

1. Melodrama film with Bali bombing as a backdrop

2. A Tampines' love triangle story

3. Les Miserables goes ghetto

Shit...it kind of got stuck at the selection page.
Will figure something out soon.

For you babies

Am stressing out real bad here.
Freaking shitloads to mark.

Urgh!!!!

###

New York state of mind

It's just another trip.
Let's not make a big fuss out of it.

But still, thanks for the well-wishes, guys!

Labels or love

So last Saturday, I met Nani after work at Causeway Point to catch Sex & the City.

SEX & the CITY was a slight disappointment. The humour is tepid and everything else is predictable. Okay, how unpredictable can SATC be, right? After all it is from a TV series...but seriously? Poop jokes? Fat jokes? That's toilet humour and the last I remember, SATC was more than that.

I followed it religiously when I was in my early 20s but now...in my near-approaching 30s, I feel cut off. I cant relate to them anymore. They are so indulgent, frivolous and self-centred.

Saving grace is that...*thinks hard* ah, the fashion was awesome as always. Though at the end of it, I really had a product-placement overload.

Okay...I shall blog about Get Smart, Sharinah's and Grace's birthday celebrations tomorrow. I need sleep now.

A thousand times goodnight, city dwellers concrete urbanites.

P/S: Coming to America!!

F.O.D. (Fuck Off and Die)

What kind of fuckery is this??????

I tell you, only I can get into such a mess.
Champion.
Undisputed champion.

I woke up darn early today at 0630hrs cause I wanted to see the auntie and cousins off at the airport. They were going for their umrah. Fine. After that, the mother and had breakfast at the cafeteria. Fine. We then took a bus home. It was 0900hrs and things were fine until 15 minutes later, the school called.

School: Hey Ed, where are you?
Ed: Outside...why?
School: You have class right now, leh!
Ed: No, I am on the afternoon shift what. I have night class tonight.
School: No no no you have class now.
Ed: Fuck! I have? Shit shit.
School: Yeah so can come?
Ed: Can can!!
School: Okay how long more?
Ed: Gimme 15 minutes.

I alighted at Tanah Merah and took a cab. I looked at myself - in my faded Ocean Pacific Surf Babes Rule t-shirt, slouchy pants and my orange Havaianas. I dont even have my Mass Comm room keys with me and so, I cant do my marking, make my Milo and most importantly, get my jacket/shawl.
Best of all, I will be going home at 12 noon cause my next class is at 7.

Chee bye, Ed.
Very the chee bye.

Reached school around 0945hrs and quickly ran to the receptionist to hide. I told the Script students last week that this is a consultation class and so, there's no lesson. When I reached, there was no student...which was kind of expected.

Recept: Eh your students not here you know
Ed: I know. Today is consultation class. If they want to discuss or look for me, I'm in class.
Recept: Then you know you have class lah?
Ed: Well I know there is class today. But I thought it is in the afternoon.
Recept: Oh ok...

Ed: Yeah. I thought I saw it on my schedule. Must be see wrongly.
Recept: Then if afternoon your students come how?
Ed: I dont know. Shouldnt be. Think they are more familiar with their timetable than I am with mine.
Recept: Aiyoh...

Crap shit, really.

Am in the classroom, freezing my tits off and feeling damn sleepy. Few students just walked in to have their group discussion and well, they must be quite surprised to see me in my non-professional looking self...complete with the utter paleness, no-make up face. Urgh!

Screwed up.
I shall endure for 1.5 more hours and then run home.

Gosh...I am still wearing my stupid sports bra, lor!!!!

P/S: The mother panicked when she knew I had to rush to school. She even offered to go home and come down to my work place with my computer, clothes and shoes. Told her forget it.

P/P/S: The receptionist was surprised to see me not panicking. "I'm not afraid," I told her. Deep down, maybe I just wanted to get sack. Like I mentioned, what kind of fuckery is this...

We build this city

Firstly, a shout out:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to GRACE LAU!

May things go well and hope you have a kick-ass Spanish holiday! See you later!

Spent almost the whole day at work. The open house was kind of pathetic though..oh well. I think many didnt want to go out in the pouring rain. Even if they wanted to go out, it would be to the malls or something. After the open house, I stayed back for a while to do some marking and slacking around in my mass comm room.

Around 1730hrs, I rushed over to Excelsior to get something and then I headed to Causeway Point at Woodlands to catch a show with Nani.

I need to sleep...talk abt this later
